Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.
The Konig XG-12 tire chains are great all-purpose, winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable, easy to mount, and give you constant traction - and they're lightweight and compact, so they store in your vehicle nicely too. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.
These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they self-tension and self-center as you drive, ensuring a perfect fit, no matter the profile or wear pattern of your tire. Plus, you only have to get out of your vehicle one time - once they're installed, there's no need to drive forward, stop, and recheck their tension.
SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.
These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:
If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.
We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.
You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.
Installing these chains is incredibly simple.
1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in them.
2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the blue cable, which will sit behind the tire.
3. Around front, connect the red hook to the red link.
4. At the bottom of the tire, feed the tensioning chain through the large clip. Pull the chain up to the center of the tire and secure it to the red hook that is attached to the tensioning cable.
5. Drive forward so that the chain can self-tension and self-center, giving you a perfect fit.
Quick Tips:
To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Traction plates offer extra grip.I was looking to have snow tire chains for my upcoming trip to northern Wisconsin. I found these to be very easy to install as the instructions were very clear. I like that they come with a case to make them easy to store in my Ford Escape.
Bought the chains for my wife's Volvo XC70 and a winter cross country trip last January. Needed them on I-5 between California and Oregon. They worked great. Practiced installing and removing them in the garage before the trip. Installing the chains in the snow was quick and easy. Appreciated the self tensioning feature.
Found out the hard way, though, that removing the chains is only easy if the wheel/tire is in the same position relative to the road as when the chains were installed. Easier said than done when it's raining and the wind is blowing up a storm after crossing the snowy mountain pass. Now we know to pack a crayon with the chains so we can mark the top of the tire after installing them, know to drive forward or back to again put the mark on top when it's time to remove them. Otherwise you end up with tensioning cables wrapped around brake calipers and lots of cussing.
i carry it in the car all the time but have not had to use it yet. Well made. Quality construction. Very easy to install. I practiced. Nice product but not yet proven by myself. I do have high confidence that they will perform perfectly when the time comes.
I am really pleased with this purchase. I recently put them on in the midst of a nice snow shower and it took less than 5 minutes. The fact that they self correct as you drive means you don't have to have them perfectly centered to start with. The links are a lot smaller that I expected, so they are easy to handle. I have learned that as the roads get better to leave them off because you definitely don't want to use them on pavement, as the vehicle will shake like crazy. You also don't want to go more than about 20 mph with them on.
Thank you, the chains were delivered and we both used the website to learn how to install them on the car. Yes, we have done 2 dry runs on the tires in the garage. They may have cost a little more but having the self-tension chains is wonderful and soooooo much easier to install than the conventional ones. We are an older couple and getting up and down especially in the snow, can be challenging so the less fussing that has to be done, the better. We also added heavy gloves to the container and always carry a big sheet of plastic with us. We feel prepared to head through the Sierra's into Salt Lake in the coming months.
Excellent chains, can be put on in minutes w/out prior experience, instructions are printed on the case for easy access in frustrating moments. Will buy this brand from this store in the future.
I've only used these as insurance - and have not had to use them in the snow. I did install them once just to be sure I knew how to put them on in the event that was necessary and they installed just like the directions said, so I think no problems.
Product is well designed and comes with a convenient packing case. Go to You Tube for instruction on installation which was very helpful
Great product. highly recommend. excellent seller
We are the envy at campgrounds. We actually bought them for Xmas presents
Really easy to install and seem very du rable
Great Quality. Quick Installation and very easy to take off. Self-tensioning worked like a charm. I would definitely recommend them.
I bought these to use on my 2023 Rav4 TRD Off-Road OEM Falken AT Tires.
I highly recommend installing them at home a few times before heading up. Watching the etrailer videos on YouTube was also a huge help.
Used them extensively in 12-15 inch snow on a BMW X5 and they were absolutely great. Easy to place. Effective at delivering superb traction and always stayed in place on the tire.
Good quality chains comes in a nice plastic storage box
Easy to put on I did a test run
Previously my only experience with chains was using cable chains on front wheel drive cars, where turning the wheels was necessary to ensure they had a good fit.
I bought these chains for my 2023 Kia EV6 with stock 235/55/19 tires. The instruction manual for the car says to put chains on the rear wheels and I was worried that getting chains on the rear wheels would be difficult. Despite never having used this style of chains before I was easily able to test-fit both chains with 15 minutes, and the chains fit very snuggly and didn't move when I move the car a cars length. Getting the inner loop positioned right is something that took a couple tries to get right, and I'm sure there might be a bit more room for improvement :)
I was slightly concerned about the chains damaging the rims or other parts of the car, but with the included spacers (not applied in the picture) I think this won't be a problem.
I'm taking the car up to the snow this weekend and if I use the chains I'll provide an update.
etrailer did a great job clearly communicating to me when my chains would arrive with no fuss.
I purchase the chains for when I go to Colorado. Driving thru Wyoming they required chains when going over some of the mountains passes. I like the how easy they are to put on and take off.
These tire chains have been wonderful. They are easy to put on and even easier to take off. I use them on a very icy steep gravel driveway (more than a half mile in length). They provide excellent traction and break up the ice so I can use my other vehicles on the driveway. I like these so much that I purchased them for two other vehicles.
Having wrestled with chains for going over passes growing up in Montana, these are like "night and day" getting them on and off a vehicle!! No loose chain link ends to beat up your fenders, don't have to roll the tires to fasten them up, and self tighten on their own. Work great!!
I hesitate a bit to leave this review, because it's based on very limited experience. I recently moved into the Smoky Mountain foothills, don't have a 4X4, and last winter a couple times was stuck not being able to make it up my steep, narrow driveway after a snow. So, I purchased these tire chains. I did a couple dry-run installs/removals and was very pleased with the ease of installation, the self-adjusters worked great, etc. However, I've never actually had to drive in the snow with the chains installed, so, as I said, my rating is based on limited product experience, so anyone reading this, please take that into consideration.
Outstanding service! With an upcoming trip and recent snow storm etrailer helped me get my snow chains just in time for our vacation. Without the chains I would have been screwed. Communication with this company is impressive. The original chains I ordered would not have arrived in time and the sales team called me right away to find alternative solutions. Chains for 315/35/20 size tires are not easy to find. Really happy with my purchase. Thank you.

These tire chains got me out of jam recently when I had gone down a 1 lane thanks to massive snow road and there was no place to turn around. I put on the chains and was able to do a multi-point turn to get back down the road with ease.
