Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota 4-Runner, you're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install the Aries AeroTread Running Boards.This is what our running boards look like when they're installed. You're going to get two running boards. They're going to be 70 inches long and give you a five inch wide step. The inside frame is going to be made out of a rust-proof aluminum and the outside's going to be made out of a carbine black stainless steel so it's going to resist any rust or corrosion.The step pad itself is going to be made out of a durable hardened non-skid plastic. It's going to have a tread like pattern to give you adequate traction when getting in and out of the vehicle. We're going to have rounded edges to maintain that streamline look and have a 500 pound max weight capacity.First thing we want to do is, you want to get your ...
Back your vehicle, back or the front, either one, up off the ground just a little bit. It's going to make it a little bit easier to work under there. If you don't have ramps, it's not necessary but it will make it a little easier. If you don't have ramps, you want to pick some up, you can find some on our website.Once you get your vehicle up on the ramps, you want to make sure you set your emergency brake and then chock your front wheels. Next thing we're going to do, we're going to start on the passenger side.
You're going to have four brackets that look like this. You're going to have two brackets that look like this. The two brackets that are like this, are for the front of the vehicle on the driver and passenger side. The four brackets that look like this, are going to be for the center in the back on both sides of the vehicle. What we're going to do is we're going to go ahead and lay these where they're going to be installed.
Lay them like this underneath there. Then what you need to do is we're going to get underneath the vehicle. You want to check to see if you have factory hardware. If you don't have factory hardware on the vehicle, your kit's going to come with some hardware. That's what you're going to use.If your vehicle has factory hardware, you're just going to remove the hardware, put your bracket in place, and reinstall that hardware.
This is the hardware I was talking about. Again, you're going to have two here in the back, two in the center, and two in the front. We'll take a 12 millimeter socket, we'll go ahead and remove those. We'll take our bracket and with two small holes, the enclosed holes here, and we're going to go up underneath with our bracket like that.Now we can reinstall our hardware. We're not going to fully tighten this down right now. Now we're going to install our center one, the same way. We'll take inaudible 00:02:42 front bracket and you want to slide them underneath those brackets there. We've already removed the hardware. Reinsert your hardware if you have existing hardware there. If not, this is where you would put in the hardware that comes with your kit.Now we want to take our running board. You're going to flip it over upside down. You're going to have six bolts with nuts, washers and block washers on it. We're going to remove the nuts, block washers, and flat washers. We're going to have two, three pins 00:03:27. Two for the center. What we want is we want this rubber section up against the vehicle. There we're going to set it into place like this. What we're going to do is get back under there, inaudible 00:03:46 our hardware and get it set into our brackets. What we'll do is we'll take it and we'll push it like that. Then we'll put our hardware back on. Now we can reinstall our hardware, flat washer first and then the block washer, and then the nut.You can see there's plenty of room here on these bolts so you may not need to take these all the way off. The instructions tell you to take them all the way off but you can see we have plenty of room. If you can get them on without having to take off the nut, block washer, flat washer, by all means, try it that way. You're just going to repeat this for the other two brackets. Before we tighten anything up, what we're going to do is we want to center our ends between our wheel wells, or center the board between our wheel wells. You take a guesstimate here, distance from this edge to the edge of our wheel well there. We'll do it again back here. Once you have it adjusted where you want, it'll go back in. Then we're going to tighten up the hardware and we're going to start with the hardware that's holding the bracket to the vehicle. Now I'm going to push these all the way back in. We'll go ahead and tighten up this hardware that's holding our running board down to our brackets.Then we'll repeat that for all remaining brackets and inaudible 00:05:32. Once you're done on this side, you're going to repeat the same process on the driver's side. That'll do it for a look at and installation on the Aries AeroTread Running Boards in black on our 2018 Toyota 4-Runner.

Great quality and fit on my 2019 Chevy Traverse for the price. Would be better if the steps had rubberized grip for better traction. These are 5”, but I think 6” would have been better for my vehicle.

These were easy to install and they look great. Just got the 2019 Pilot and found out the kids would have an easier time with some running boards. Instructions were straightforward enough, but I watched the installation example video anyway. Just as easy as it looks. The quality and construction seems to be very good. Hoping they last the life of the vehicle. Kids, and wife, like the ease of getting in and out of the Pilot now.
Super easy install on our ‘21 Pilot Black Edition, didn’t even need to trim out the plastic tabs that the OEM boards would have needed. Even easier if you have a second person to help you straighten the mounting brackets and thread the hardware while you ratchet, but that’s just icing on the cake.
These running boards look and function great on my 2018 Traverse LT. Installation was not complicated because the instructions were clear with very helpful photos. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting runnng boards and am saving my pennies to get a set for my 2011 Silverado .
These running boards fit my 17 acadia slt. They look great and it's so much easier for my kids and I go get in and out of the back. However, the instructors are completely useless. The brackets are labeled all wrong. Left is right and front is back. Once we figured that out instalation went a lot smoother.

Wow, great running boards, very sturdy and well made. Follow the video instructions on the etrailer webpage and save a lot of time with installation. I watched the video and had both sides done in less than an hour. All the hardware was included in the package and it was extremely easy to install. These are great running boards that will greatly improve the look and functionality of your vehicle.

I had purchased another brand of running board for just about the same money and the overall quality was poor. I returned them and bought from etrailer because the quality of the last item I bought from them was very good. I love the way they look on the Pilot and they are already proving useful for the shorter family members and assisting them getting into the Pilot easier. I was sent the wrong hardware first off , etrailer offered to let me go to my local store and purchase it and they would reimburse me or they would mail me the correct hardware. I chose the second option since I wasn’t in a hurry. Not awesome but they resolved it so no biggie. One other thing that confused me was that the brackets were marked “DSF, DSM & DSR” and additionally “PSF, PSM & PSR”. I assumed this meant “Drive side and Passenger side “Front, Middle and Rear”. But the brackets were stamped incorrectly. The DSRear was actually the front one. It wasn’t hard to figure out which ones matched with the holes in the frame because they are all very different but it’s weird they were stamped wrong. Maybe the letters don’t stand for what I thought they do and I’m open to that possibility.
All that being said they went one easily enough. It took about 90 minutes with and extra pair of hands at times. I really do like the look and they just sort of make a plain looking Pilot look sharp.

These running boards are very good quality and fairly easy to install. Make my Traverse look much more nice. Oh, and perfect for assisting in entering the vehicle. Well worth the price.
Again, etrailer.com knocks it out of the park! Other than one pain in the butt issue, this was perfect. The running boards are much higher quality than I thought they would be, solidly built and look awesome on my 2019 Honda Pilot.
Installation was easy - after I watched the installation video. However, the brackets marked "F", which I assumed meant "Front" like over reviewers, was actually the rear and the brackets marked "R" were actually the front. Brackets marked "M" were for the middle. Fortunately, I figured this was the case after reading other reviews. But, with my vehicle, it was really obvious when I looked at the mounting holes. The entire installation took about 40 minutes (plus an hour and a half to go to Home Depot, but I'll get to that).
The running boards look awesome on my vehicle! They look factory installed. I like that they have a thick rubber strip that seals them again the vehicle, preventing rain, snow, ice from getting in between the running boards and the side of the vehicle.
This is the first time I've ever had something go wrong with a product I ordered from etrailer, though. One of the mounting bolts was defective -- see the picture I posted. This is absolutely not etrailer's fault and is on the manufacturer, but it was a major hassle for me as I didn't notice until I had the driver's side running board installed and had one of the brackets already installed on the passenger side. It is a fairly standard sized metric bolt and I spent $0.92 at Home Depot for a replacement -- but, it was still a major hassle. If it weren't for that, I'd rate this 5 stars.
Suggestions -- use a round wire brush to clean out the weld nuts before attaching the brackets. A couple of mine were full of dirt, which I expected and I cleaned them out first. Second, check the bolts!! My defective bolt was probably a fluke, but checking all the parts would be a good idea anyway.

The installation was very easy thanks to the instructions that came with the order. It took about 30 minutes per side. They look fantastic and my wife is very happy with them. I wish other companies would follow your lead. Thank you very much.
Nice looking running board but had difficulty installing the brackets first they are not marked I had to look at the photo on the directions and figure it out left right front middle end! Mounting them was straight forward but with difficulty. Getting one on each side was not easy getting the bolts lined up with the factory holes. Then getting the steps bolted on one bolt on each side was needing patience. Once installed checked alignment tightened everything looks good.
Better than expected, Perfect fit, I wanted something that didn't stick out too far and I think 5 inch is the perfect size, Good packaging, box had a couple of holes from shipping but no damage to product. Only thing as mentioned in other reviews front and rear brackets labeling is reversed but easy to figure out.
Running boards have a very good appearance they improved the looks of my 2020 Traverse the middle and rear mounting brackets take a little time they are tricky to mount however I was successful in getting them mounted. We love the product
I purchased these as replacements to the same boards that were added to my Explorer back in 2017. They protected my driver side doors from getting totally destroyed in a parking lot hit and run. Thanks for the quick response and help getting the replacements that I need.
Boards look great and appear very sturdy. I installed with no elevation of vehicle in 2 hours 5 minutes which included removing the passenger board for the correct one. It wasn't yet tightened so not too hard. Instructions are ok and provide basic info but I learned more in the comment section here. The brackets are not labeled correctly and face one way on the passenger side and the opposite on the driver side. Don't worry, it all works. The instructions did clarify that forked brackets go to the front and that all others worked middle and rear regardless of stamped markings. Very little room to work under car but I managed. Boards look durable and are very good looking. Mount is sturdy but it would help if boards were marked for Passenger/ driver. I saw the tread pointing toward the front in a picture and so I removed first board and swapped. Screws don't move as freely in the tracks but sufficiently so. All in all, I would buy them again and do it again. Not sure if they are lined up right but an easy fix if they need to move a little forward or back; for now they are centered.
Boards look great, and the installation was fairly easy. 1st side took me about an hour and second side was on in 30 minutes.
The running boards are well made. Able to handle heavy weight and look nice. The major drawback is that 5 inch wide is not enough when mounted on the traverse since curvature of vehicle sets them back to the point that you cannot place the entire foot on board. You have to step with foot pointing to front tires to get enough bearing to get in and out. Need to design with at least 7 inch wide to truly make functional.
I purchased these for my wife's new 2023 chevy traverse. We are very happy with them. They are heavy duty and are built tough with a 500 lb. weight rating. All of the mounting hardware is heavy duty also. I installed them myself in about 2 hours. I would definitely buy these again. Great product.
Well lets see. The customer service from Will at Etrailers is amazing! Talked to him on the phone and within 2 days, had had the running boards and hardware on my porch! Other company waited a week only to find out the item was backordered with no idea when it would be back in stock. So as far as the boards, they are great, well made, and sturdy. The installation instruction papers leave a lot to be desired. Pictures show very little. Saw on reviews that brackets were mismarked. Mine had no markings but very easy to figure where they went by looking at photos. The 2 M10 plastic retainers are not shown in instructions but figured out where to use them. The M8 pull through nuts are great after you figure out how to use them, again, nothing shown. Lastly, installing the rear bracket on both sides tell you to use the 3” x 1 ½” metal spacer and ½” carriage bolt into the rear hole. Doesn’t work. Actually had to insert the bolt into the spacer, drop it in the hole and the fish out the bottom of the bolt with a magnet!!!
So after learning some of the above steps, the passenger side went on in like 20 minutes! The boards themselves were a snap and easy to center and adjust. You can see by the photos, install was completed with only ramps and no lift or rack. Not sure if the rack would have helped.
