1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today, we're going to take a look at this Americana 13 inch by four and a half inch galvanized eight spoke steel trailer wheel with the four on four inch bolt pattern. Now this wheel's a sturdy steel construction. It is the eight spoke design with the galvanized finish and the galvanized finish provides a nice superior protection from rust and corrosion. It's mainly used in Marine applications like on a boat trailer. This is a nice high quality wheel meets the DoT, Department of Transportation specifications.
Few specs on this, we're going to measure the diameter and the width. So if I get my tape measure and when you measure the diameter, it's always measured inside to inside.So if we go inside to inside, you can see there's your 13 inch diameter. The width there'll be the same way, it's inside to inside. four and a half inches wide. Now this wheel does have a bolt pattern of four on four inches and on a wheel that's an even number of lugs like in this case four, it's pretty easy because the holes are right across from each other.
So when you measure it, you just pick any hole. Let's say this one and you'll measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. So on this wheel, it'll be four inches. So it's a four lug four inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use the wheel lug size of a half inch by 20.Pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here in the center.
It goes over the hub on your axle. Diameter of that is 2.65 inches. And the weight capacity on this wheel is 1,360 pounds.But that should do it for the review on the Americana 13 inch by four and a half inch galvanized eight spoke steel trailer wheel with the four on four inch bolt pattern.

Bought these rims to replace painted steel rims on a boat trailer. It was difficult to find the 4 bolt version of this 13" rim. I had bought the 5 bolt style a few years back for another trailer and at that time I noticed that etrailer did not list a 4 bolt. After a phone call with a very pleasant girl, the 4 bolt style was listed on the website. Thanks so much.
After shopping around a lot for wheels to upgrade my trailer looks I was happy to find eTrailer. The website is very helpful and informative and the wheels I received were exactly what I had hoped for. A big bonus was how helpful the eTrailer customer service people were...not common today! I've since bought several other items that have all been top shelf.
Excellent heavy duty 13" trailer wheel. The galvy finish will last forever. Problem with the wheel is that because the galvy finish is so thick, it must be sanded and smoothed along the inside of the wheel where the tire bead mounts in order to get the tire to seal and stop leaking. Had to mount and unmount tires twice in order to get that done. Quality control begins at the factory in this case; etrailer should 'encourage' supplier to make sure this is done before sending out the wheels.
These rims were in terrible condition. Talking with a respectable tire business that mounted my tires on these rims I purchased told me that the galvanized was the worst that they have ever seen. I needed 13inch and would have bought from them. Unfortunately they didnt have 13's. The other parts i purchased was ok, but etrailer had to order my rims and delayed shipping.
These 13 inch wheels came to me in perfect condition. They are for my boat trailer as my 12 inch wheels are too small for the weight I need to carry. These new galvanized
