Tamarack Radials

TamarackTread Close-Up

This radial ply tire from Tamarack is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look together at this Tamarack ST 225 75 R15 radial trailer tire. Now, if you've ever pulled a trailer, you know that your tires aren't just along for the ride. They're carrying the weight of your trip. That's why this Tamarack ST 225 75 R15 radial trailer tire is built tough, with reinforced sidewalls and smart engineering, to keep you rolling safely and smoothly down the highway. Now this is built for the road.

You're gonna be able to use this safely at highway speeds. This has a speed rating of M, which indicates a maximum speed up to 81 miles per hour. So you're gonna be able to tow with confidence and avoid blowouts. And this has heavy duty load support. This tire can carry up to 2,830 pounds at 80 PSI.

So this is gonna be perfect for those heavier, single-axle trailers. And it has a strong construction with the load range of E. That means that this tire has a 10 ply rating. This tire is designed to handle demanding hauls. So this is gonna be durable by design.

It has double steel belts, double polyester plies, and nylon overlays that are going to work together for strength and long tread life. This is built as a ST tire, meaning it's a special trailer tire. So this is not a design for automobiles, trucks, or things like that. This is specifically designed for your trailer, so it's gonna be tough enough to manage the unique stresses of trailer use. So it's gonna be pretty easy maintenance.

We do have tread wear indicators on the tire to make it simple to know when it's time for replacement. This is going to fit your 15 inch by 5 inch and 15 inch by 6 inch wheels. The section width is going to be 8.78 inches. And with the outer diameter, when fully inflated, is gonna be 28.3 inches. • Can ST225/75R15 Tires Replace 8.75-16.5 Tires on Tandem Axle Trailer
Hey Mike! Tires like the Maxxis ST225/75R15 Radial Tire # MXS77FR can replace the 8.75-16.5 tires on your trailer. Going to a smaller size is not really a concern as long as the tires have a high enough capacity to handle your trailer. The Maxxis tires are only available as part of a wheel and tire combo at this time leaving this and the # MXS99FR with the powder coated steel wheel as the only option. If you want a galvanized wheel you can use the Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6"...
