This 215/75R17.5 radial tire and 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" modular wheel combo is made for serious hauling. The tire carries a Load Range H, 16-ply rating with a 4,806-lb maximum load at 125 psi, while the wheel itself is rated for 6,005 lbs. With its 75-mph (L speed) rating and all-steel belts, it’s built to handle highway use and long hauls without breaking a sweat.
Rust isn’t a worry here. The heavy-duty steel wheel goes through a three-step finishing process—first a zinc phosphate bath for paint adhesion, then an acrylic e-coat primer, and finally a baked-on silver powder coat on both sides. That layered defense makes the wheel both sturdy and corrosion resistant, ready for wet roads or humid climates.
Installing this assembly is straightforward and solid thanks to its hub-piloted design that centers on the hub for even balance. It uses a common 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern and a -0.5" offset, with flange nuts (sold separately) required for mounting. The pilot diameter measures 4.76", giving you precise alignment and reliable retention under load.
For those who log serious miles, the radial construction keeps things smooth and steady at speed. All-steel belts enhance durability and extend tread life, while the computer-generated tread pattern and premium rubber compound deliver traction in wet or dry conditions. Wide shoulders promote even wear so performance stays consistent trip after trip.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Triangle 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire in a Load Range H, and it's mounted on this 17 1/2 inch Gray Modular Steel Trailer Wheel with an offset and an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is designed for use on heavy-duty trailers. The wheel is a heavy-duty wheel, it's a sturdy steel construction. And you can see it is the eight hole modular design wheel, has the large holes around the outer edge of the wheel. Now, this wheel has excellent corrosion resistance.
And if you noticed, it's a gray powder coat finish over an e-coat primer on the front and even on the back of the wheel. Now, this wheel is a hub-piloted wheel, which means the pilot hole right here has a diameter 4.76 inches, and that'll match the hub on your trailer. 'Cause it's hub-piloted, it's gonna center on this pilot hole. So basically, that's why if you look at the lug holes, they're non-chamfered bolt holes, there's no bevel to it. And that's because it'll require the use of 5/8 of an inch by 18 size flange nuts for installation.
So when you go to put this up on your trailer, it's gonna center right here on the hub. Your studs will come through, put your flange nuts on and tighten it down, and you're all ready to go. Now, this wheel also has 1/2 inch negative offset. And that means that the wheel's gonna move away from the trailer frame some. And the way it does that is this center where this mounts onto your trailer, this center, when it's exactly at the center of the width of the wheel, that's zero offset.
So depending which way it moves, it either moves positive or negative. Positive would be towards the front of the wheel, negative means it'll go back to the rear of the wheel. So this one here has a 1/2 inch negative offset, so it's moving this mounting surface half inch that way, which in turn moves the tire and wheel away from the trailer frame. The diameter on this wheel is 17 1/2 inches. The width on the wheel itself is 6 3/4 inches.
We mentioned the bolt pattern on it is an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, in this case, eight, it's pretty easy, 'cause the lug holes are directly across from each other. So just pick any hole, let's say this one. Measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. On this one, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches. So that means it's an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Weight capacity on the wheel is 6,005 pounds. Now, the tire that's mounted on it is a premium, multi-use steer and all-position radial tire, and is constructed with all steel belts to enhance durability and extend tread life. If I turn it this way, you'll see it uses wide shoulders to promote even wear and better traction. And it has an enhanced casing package to help improve toughness and retreadability. Tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, 215/75R17.5, the R means it's a radial. Section width on this tire, it's gonna be right at 8.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top once inflated is 30.2 inches. And this tire is a Load Range H, which means it's a 16-ply rated tire, so it has a maximum load capacity of 4,805 pound at 125 psi. And one of the last things I do wanna mention, they are coming through with a speed rating on them now, and they stamped it on the sidewall with a letter designation. And where you'll find it is right after the tire size. You'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter L. L will mean it's a 75 mile per hour speed rating. But that's gonna do it for a look at the Triangle 215/75R17.5 Radial Tire in a Load Range H, mounted on this 17 1/2 inch Gray Modular Steel Trailer Wheel with an offset and an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.
