1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today, we're gonna take a look at this Taskmaster Provider ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range C, and it's mounted on this 14 inch Vesper black modular steel trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. What's unique on this assembly is this assembly, the tire is match-mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride comfort and durability. Match-mounting of tires and wheels is a process in which the tire's installation position on the wheel is specifically selected to minimize the final force of imbalance. Basically, the method to match-mounting is they align the tire's lightest spot with the wheel's heaviest spot to eliminate most to the radial force that can cause tire and suspension wear.
Then they finally balance it, and that's done by applying weights to specific spots on the front and the back of the wheel to eliminate any chance of uneven wear or vibration. Just to show you on this wheel, you'll be able to see pretty clearly, there's a weight right there on the front and then there's one right here on the back, so that'll make this assembly all balanced. The wheel on this is a steel wheel, it is a modular design, and by that, we mean it has the round holes all the way around the wheel, it is sturdy and corrosion resistant. They do use a black acrylic enamel finish on the wheel to resist chipping and others damage better than your powder coat finishes. And this finish is applied after a zinc phosphate pre-treatment, and it covers an E-coat primer layer.
Does give you excellent corrosion resistance with a salt spray rating of more than 1,000 hours. Few spec on the wheel, diameter, 14 inches, width on just the wheels, six inches wide, bolt pattern on this, 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, in this case, five, what you do is just pick one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes, but when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whatever hole you measure to. So on this one, it'll measure 4 1/2 inches, which means it's a five lug, 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Wheel lug size, 1/2 inch by 20, and the weight capacity on just the wheel is 2,160 pounds.
If you noticed, this does not have a center cap. We do offer center caps that will work with this, they are not included, we sell them separately. You do wanna make sure if you get a center cap that it'll have the diameter same as the pilot hole here, which is 3.27 inches, 'cause your center cap will go through this hole when you install it. The tire on this is a radial tire, it is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a nice long life. It's great for highway use, and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation.
This tire is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, has the sturdy sidewall, so it can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers, not intended for use on any other vehicles. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 205/75R14, the R means it's a radial tire. Section width, 8 1/2 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 26.1 inches, this is a Load Range C tire, which means it's a six-ply rated tire, has a maximum load capacity of 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. And I do wanna mention that they do have a speed rating on these tires now, and the speed rating is designated on the sidewall with a letter designation. And where that's at is right after the tire size we just went over, you'll see two numbers for a load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating M will mean 81 mile per hour speed rating. This does have a two-year platinum plus warranty, which includes emergency tire change service and other benefits, and this assembly will meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it does exceed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Taskmaster Provider ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range C on this 14 inch Vesper black modular steel trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern.

I was very disappointed to see that only the outside of my wheel was painted white. When mounted on my motorcycle trailer, both sides of the wheel are clearly visible. Unbelievable that the miniscule savings afforded by skipping this step is considered justified. I am now stuck, of course, because the delay to exchange or return it would be unacceptable.

Light, sturdy feeling, perfect pressure straight out of the box. Honestly this was my first time ordering any kind of tire online so i was a bit paranoid. But the vehicle selector narrowed down the search to this beauty. Fits like a glove on my old 2005 jayco jay series. while its too early for me to rate its longevity, i find the product feel reassuring.
On the first trip with these tires and wheels, All wheel weights broke off. Will have to have these balanced again. Tires and wheels are as expected
When the tires arrived, the hubs had a few stretches on them which I assume it from mounting the tires. I installed them and drove around the block. Even though it was a short drive, they seemed to be a much better upgrade than the bias ply tires I had on the trailer.
I also should add that I bought these because of the highway rating as I will be hauling my motorcycle to NY this summer.
UPS driver put the tire box at my back gate and was very kind to do so. I’ve ordered 5 new tire/rims for an Alaska trip and and a spare for my cargo trailer in the past. This tire will be a spare on my new trailer.

Excellent looking wheels and tires! The wheels are flawless - no scratches or chips.
I put these on a small utility trailer that I expanded for hauling my kayak and jon boat. The gross weight is very light so I reduced my tire pressure to about 75psi and took the trailer for its maiden test drive this past weekend. Handles great in town. It did 75-80mph on the highway no problem.
