If you’re ready to ditch old, dim incandescent lights, this Peterson Piranha LED delivers strong, efficient illumination. The two amber LEDs sit behind a clear lens for a bright, even glow that uses far less power—just 0.03 amps at 12V. With a 9V–16V DC input range, it’s designed for stable, efficient performance and lasts up to 50 times longer than filament bulbs. No more worrying about replacements or burnt-out bulbs.
This light is made to survive harsh use and wet conditions without letting moisture in. The housing and lens are epoxy sealed into one waterproof unit, so the circuit board and diodes stay protected even when submerged. The durable SMD construction also resists shock and vibration while keeping heat low—perfect for trailers that see a lot of bumps or water exposure.
Installing this light is simple. The 4-1/16" by 1-1/16" rectangular body mounts flat against your trailer using pre-drilled holes spaced 3" apart (center to center). It only needs a small wiring hole behind it, and the back has just enough room to tuck in excess wire if needed. There’s no gasket—it mounts directly to the surface—and the two-wire design makes connection quick: one power lead and one ground with a #10 ring terminal.
Visibility matters for safety, and this P2-rated light provides a focused 90-degree spread—45 degrees to each side of centerline—so it works perfectly as either a clearance or side marker light. Straight-on visibility is strong and crisp, helping others see your trailer clearly at night or in low light. For full coverage on both sides, simply pair it with another light in the right spots, and you’re set.

Today we'll be taking a look at the Peterson Piranha LED clearance or side marker trailer light. This is a submersible light since it's epoxy sealed, so that going to keep all our diodes from any kind of corrosion or any kind of damage. That means we can use this on a marine trailer anytime we're going in and out of the water, or just any other trailer that we want to have an amber clearance light. And we'll know that it's going to be protected from any kind of dirt or debris from getting in there and causing issues. Those LEDs are also going to have an advantage over the old incandescent bulb styles since there's no brittle filaments that can break with these. There's no bulbs to replace. They're virtually maintenance free once you install them in. And they're going to last a lot longer, have a lower power draw, and give you typically a brighter light than you would get with your incandescent bulb.
You have this amber lens going over our white LEDs. It is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. When I hook this up to my power and ground, our black wire will be for the power and then our white wire with the ring terminal on it is going to be our ground. It comes with a number 10 ring terminal already on our ground wire there. So I'll turn on my power .. you can see our LEDs come on.
We'll have those two diodes. Turn out the lights in the studio and you can get an idea of how bright that is.So not super bright, but enough to be DOT compliant and let other drivers know where we are at. This is P2 rated, which means that you can see it head on but then when we turn to the side it's really not as visible. This can be used as a clearance light or a side marker light. It can't operate as both since you can't see it at that full range of view.
Turn the power off. Disconnect my wires. Let's go over some measurements. The light is about 4 and 1/8 inch long, or 4 and a 1/16 inch long. Excuse me. And then about 1 and 1/16 inch wide.
And about an inch thick or about 15/16. The wires coming off the back are about 5 and 1/2 inches long. You can pick up a bracket to go with this. That part number is sold separately, but you can find that here at etrailer.com. And that's going to be part number B169-18. And it's just a little black bracket, but this is going to pop in too. The wires go through the middle, and then you would attach it using the holes here on either side. The hardware to get this mounted up is not included either so you'll have to pick that up separately as well. This is DOT compliant. P2 rated, again. And it has a power draw at 12 volts of 0.03 amps. Input voltage can be between 9 volts and 16 volts DC, and it comes with a 10 year limited warranty from Peterson. Overall, it should be a really nice looking long lasting light for your trailer. That's going to do it for our look at the Peterson Piranha LED clearance and side marker lights. One last measurement I want to give you is the distance between our mounting holes. That's three inches. And that'll do it for our look at the Peterson Piranha LED clearance lights.

I have ordered several time at etrailer and every time has been like I'm the first customer on their list. My order was always shipped and delivered in short time and in good condition. No issues at all. I highly recommend etrailer to everyone.
I was looking for specific trailer lights to match my existing. E trailer had all of the selections and I will definitely use again!
These are the best trailer lights I’ve found... super fast shipping...great place to do business with. Will definitely do business with them again.
Easy to navigate to wanted or needed item on website. Excellent response when ordered is made and excellent updates on order through delivery.
Replaced poorly designed lights on a travel trailer with these. The original lamps were not weather proof and used tensioned contacts that were prone to oxidation and corrosion from the elements. These LED lamps are sealed in epoxy so the elements will not affect them. Each lamp has two LEDs and a 6" wiring pigtail.
