Shuddering brakes, trailer sway, or grinding under load? Worn drums and bearings put safety at risk. An ABS-ready hub built for Dexter's Tow Assist restores smooth braking, steady tracking, and the peace of mind to tow without second-guessing.
You know that split second when traffic ahead suddenly stops and you're forced to slam on your brakes? You glance in the rearview mirror hoping your trailer is stopping, not swaying, skidding, or jackknifing. That's when Dexter's ABS Tow Assist earns its keep and this hub and drum are part of that system. Inside this replacement assembly, a tone ring constantly feeds data to your existing sensor and the ABS Tow Assist brain, helping prevent wheel lockup and keeping your trailer tracking straight. It helps give you the control and stability you count on under pressure.
A quick glance is all it takes to know your hub is ready for the road. The clear oil cap lets you spot issues early, so you can hit mountain passes and highway speeds knowing your rig is prepared.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
Figuring out your bolt pattern is easier than it sounds. The first number tells you how many bolt holes you have, and the second is the diameter of the circle they sit on.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. For example, 8 on 6-1/2" means there are 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. For example, 5 on 4-1/2" means there are 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this trailer hub and drum assembly for your Dexter ABS tow assist on your 8,000 pound trailer axles. Now, if you have shuttering brakes, trailer sway, or that grinding sound when you're under a load, those are all potential red flags that your drums and bearings are worn out and more than that, that your safety might be at risk. That's where this ABS Ready Hub is designed for your Dexter tow assist steps in. This is going to bring back smooth braking, steady tracking, and most importantly, peace of mind when you're towing. Now this iron hub and drum includes the integrated toothy edge that's ready to connect with your ABS tow assist system.
This edge constantly feeds data to the ABS system to help prevent wheel lockup and keep your trailer tracking straight. So it's gonna be all about stability and control when you need it the most. So this is again, going to be for your 8,000 pound trailer axle, and this is going to be compatible with your spindle that's 2.25 inch inner diameter seal. This is gonna work with your 16 to 17 and a half inch wheel size, and again, with, it'll work with your electric brakes. And the size of our drum is gonna be 12 inches in diameter and three and three eight inches wide.
And this does include what you see here on my table. You're going to get the outer and inner bearing, and typically on bearings you can see the number, might be hard for you to see here through the camera, but typically they're etched right around the perimeter. So you're gonna get the outer bearing 02475, and then the inner bearing 25580. Then you're gonna get the oil seal and then the oil cap with plug and o-ring. Of course, that oil cap, you'll be able to easily at a glance check the oil levels.
And so everything that you see here, along with the lug nuts that I have kind of loosely installed on the studs. And then the races are already pressed into this so that they're already gonna be pre-installed. Our bolt pattern is eight on six and a half inches. And if you don't know how to measure your bolt pattern, take a look on this product page a little bit lower on the page, and we have instructions on how you can measure your bolt pattern to be sure that this is gonna work for you. The wheel stud size is five eighths of an inch.
This cannot be rebored. But again, everything that you see here on my table, and if you have any other additional questions, whether it's about this assembly or anything else that we carry here at etrailer.com, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We do wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
