Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Good trailer wheel in the right color!! Fast shipping, good price. I will definitely use this place again.

by:

Happy with the Rims, however the order arrived incomplete, valve stems did not arrive. etrailer did take care of the issue but we really wanted the valve stems for the installation process.

by:

High quality trailer wheels at an affordable price. Very pleased!

by:

Exactly what I expected - shipping, fit, quality, etc.... all of it.

A year later, all is perfect with the rims.

by:

Well I bought 4, 1 of them had a wobble. But overall I would buy again

by:

Exact replacement for my horse trailer. Had to buy a spare because BISON furnished a spare but it was 6 lug and not 8 lug. By the time I needed a spare it was out of warranty. Not a good time to find out it does not fit with horses in trailer and on side of the road. Word of advice to anyone! Something else to check before leaving the lot with a new trailer. Fast ship! Thanks etrailer!

Purchased these for spares for our horse trailer. They are heavy! Good strong rims. We are putting these on a 38 ft horse trailer with LQ. Each axel is rated at 7k so these rims were perfect for that.

I will be using these wheels on my horse trailer as well. My current wheels are gray but Im having trouble finding that color. Does the silver wheel that you ordered have a matte finish as opposed to shiny? I prefer the matte finish. Thanks for your help.

by:

Great quality at a fair price

by:

fast delivery and nice quality wheel.

by:

Good quality product and great service!

by:

Perfect fit. Color is metallic, not too far off the rest of my chrome wheels. Handles the 105 psi I run in my heavy 14 ply tires.

by:

Bought a few of these for our 4 horse living quarters horse trailer. Trailer is super heavy when fully loaded. Wheels have been excellent. Would recommend etrailer.

by:

what i ordered, was received

by:

I purchased these rims because they're made in the USA. They're well made and are heavier due to increased load capacity. Rims were true and had very little run out, unlike the chinese made rims that came originally on my trailer. I would purchase these rims again.

by:

Etrailer sets the example for positive shopping online! Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable folks taking the orders. My items were packed to protect them during shipping, and shipping was unbelievably fast. I will definitely do business with etrailer in the future and will recommend them to my friends.

Thank you etrailer and their great employees who helped me with my order!

Needed a new rim for extra spare tire, e-trailer had the lowest cost and fast, FREE shipping. Rim is as advertised. Just what I needed! Thank you e-trailer you made shopping for the new rim SO easy.

by:

I ordered the Mini Mod Trailer Rim and Pop Up Roof Vents...the customer service was excellent and it was delivered very quickly. We will definitely remember your company in the future!
Sincerely, Ron Mc

by:

2 sets of wheels are warped out of round. Made my trailer shake terribly bad. I believe this is a manufacturing defect. I have ran these wheels in the past with no issues but both sets received are out of round. Had to order a different brand unfortunately chinese wheel but at least they are not warped.

It is unusual for these wheels to crack. Do you still have the wheel? Would you be able to send a picture? They have a weigtht capacity of 3,960 lbs and a two year warranty.

I do not have the wheel, it was on my 5th wheel and I forgot it at the tire shop In my rush to get back on the road for my nieces wedding, that is why I did not ask for warranty. It cracked where the center attached to the rim hoop. I run 80 psi in my tires. I am disappointed in the quality but everything has gone down in quality these days so I chalked it up to experience.

Great price for a great wheel.

  • Replacement Wheels for 4-Star LQ Horse Trailer With 235/85-16 Tires
Rim width isn't likely a concern since most 235/85-16 tires will fit a variety of trailer wheel widths. For example, the # AM10295 fits 16" x 6", 16" x 6-1/2", 16" x 7", and 16" x 7-1/2" rims. The GVWR of the trailer is nice to know so you can make sure the wheel capacity is enough to handle the trailer and whatever it is carrying. We have a few different wheels that could work for your application. If you aren't against powder coat you could use the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel...

  • Recommended Silver Wheel w/ a 8 on 6-1/2 Lug Pattern
If you are needing a 16" wheel then the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel item # AM20794 is the best option for a silver wheel with a 8 on 6-1/2 lug pattern. This wheel is powder coated for a lasting durable finish. It has a 3,960 lbs per wheel which is our highest rated option in silver. It fits both 1/2" and 9/16" lug studs. I have linked a picture below that will show you what these wheels look like when installed on tandem axle trailer. The only other size silver wheel we have...

  • Recommended Replacement Wheels for a 2005 Ford E-450
Hey Terry, I did some research and it does look like the OEM wheels on your 2005 Ford were 16" x 6" with a 8 on 6.5" bolt pattern so the Steel Dual Wheel with Offset # AM83NR should work but I didn't see anything about the offset so I'd recommend sticking with a 0 offset like # AM20794.

I have a solution for you, but I did some searching and it doesn't look like we have any available center caps that are going to be compatible with the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20794. If you're looking for a little bit better looking wheel that won't break the bank, have a look at the Aluminum Liger Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - Black # LH39FR. These are also an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern 16" diameter wheel that gives you a good balance of price and good looks....

The closest a Dexstar wheel of that size gets to 4,000 lb capacity would be the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20794. This wheel has a capacity of 3,960 lbs. We do, however, have other options. If you specifically wanted a black wheel, Lionshead has several like the Aluminum Liger Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - Black # LH39FR. This wheel has a capacity of 4,080 lbs. This rim comes with a 3,960 pound capacity and fits standard stud sizes 1/2"-20 and/or 9/16"-18. To top it all off, they are made 100% in the U.S.A. We also carry the white...

  • Wheel Offset And Backspacing Of The Dexstar Mini-Mod 16" Wheels
Backspacing and offset are terms used to look at the same thing in a different way. Backspacing is described as the distance from the center of the hub to the inside edge of the wheel at the bead seat whereas offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to its mounting face. On a wheel with a zero offset, the backspacing will be slightly larger than half of the width of the wheel because the wheel width is measured from bead seat to bead seat (see photo). It is not the overall width...

  • Can a Trailer Use Wheels that Have Different Weight Capacities
As long as the wheels are all rated for the weight of your trailer you would have no problem using the # AM20794 and # AM20760. Them having different weight capacities isn't a problem in it of itself, but if the combined weight capacities of all the wheels wasn't enough for the weight of your trailer that would be where the problem is. Both the wheels would have enough capacity to be used on a 7k axle so you would be fine.
