The Trax Rail System built into the RetraxPRO XR lets you mount T-slot-compatible accessories like Thule, Yakima, or Rhino racks right on the side rails. That means you can haul bikes, kayaks, or camping gear above the bed while still using the retractable cover below. The rails don’t interfere with the cover’s movement, so you can open or close it at any time. It’s a simple way to keep your cargo organized and maximize bed space without removing the cover.
This cover is built from 1" thick, heavy-duty aluminum slats that resist dents, impacts, and harsh weather. The matte black finish is scratch resistant and won’t fade in the sun. A flat, weather-guarded locking handle conceals the keyhole and keeps dirt out, while the cover itself locks in any position along the rails. Close and lock it with your tailgate for full security, or latch it partway to protect smaller items while carrying longer gear.
The sealed ball-bearing rollers let the cover glide along the rails without binding or requiring lubrication. It retracts fully into a compact 13-1/2" deep x 12" tall canister that sits at the bulkhead, giving you complete bed access whenever you need it. The spiral track system prevents the cover from rubbing against itself, so it stays smooth and easy to operate over time. And with a low-profile rail design only 1" above the bed, it keeps a clean, streamlined look.
Foam seals and weather stripping run along every edge to block out water, dust, and snow. The cover overlaps the tailgate to stop water from seeping inside, and two built-in drain tubes route any moisture out of the storage canister through factory bed holes. The result is a near-watertight fit that protects your gear through rain and car washes with minimal upkeep required.
With a weight capacity of 500 lbs evenly distributed, the RetraxPRO XR can handle heavy snow loads or gear stacked on top without flexing. The aluminum panels, sealed bearings, and corrosion-resistant finish all add up to a system that’s built for long-term use in any environment. There are no springs, joints, or hinges to fail—just solid, maintenance-free coverage that works day after day.

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed review RAMDaddy! I would say you definitely got your moneys worth on your last one with the 10 years of use! And valid points on the new cover, it does stink that the canister takes up so much room, but it is still a really nice cover. I hope you get 10 years plus out of this new one =)

Had this on my truck for over a year, outside in the elements every day and it still looks brand new. The finish is tough and durable. It rolls open and closed with ease and the locking mechanism is free and smooth. Couldnt be happier with it.
