Video Transcript for Access TonnoSport Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover Feature Review
Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Access Tonnosport Soft Roll-up Tonneau Cover. This is an entry level tonneau cover from Access, and we're gonna take a look at the different specs, different measurements, different features, right here at etrailer. So, if you wanna protect your truck bed from the elements, let's say you have a lot of snow, you have rain, you have sun beating down, and you don't wanna mess up your bed liner, that's what a tonneau cover like this is for. It's also if you wanna protect the cargo underneath from those elements as well.
This is gonna be the entry level cover, though. So, if you want the more premium features, definitely check out the other videos of tonneau covers we have here etrailer for some of those more premium items. Access has a bunch of cool ones, but this definitely does check off most of the boxes you might be looking for. So hopefully this video will help you out with figuring is this gonna be the right cover for you, your truck, and your adventures. So even though it's the economy option, it's still a really good looking cover.
We have this installed on our Ram 3500, but this fits a bunch of other trucks as well. Definitely use our fit guide here at etrailer, so you can get the right fit for you and your truck. This is gonna be a low profile tonneau cover that's relatively easy to use. Check out my install on this Ram 3500, if you're curious about that process. So, a soft roll-up tonneau cover means you can roll the tonneau cover up and keep it rolled up, that way you can access your truck bed whenever you want.
So let's do that, and take a closer look at the different features. So this has a seam on the side, and notice how it is aligned and flush with our truck bed. Now, this is only on the sides of our truck bed. If you want the more premium Access covers, that seam goes all the way up, even towards the cab. This one has support beams made of aluminum.
Great, because it's lightweight, easy to maneuver. Also, this prevents people from pealing this up and accessing your truck bed from the side. Now, this is unpainted. I think it's perfectly fine, since it is made of aluminum, but some prefer the black finish that you can find on the beams of the other Access covers. The vinyl cover here feels very strong, feels durable. It is water resistant. Now this doesn't have any drain holes, things like that. So, you're gonna have to hope that if you have the tension tight enough, then it will just run off towards the sides. So, the differences between a soft tonneau cover and a hard tonneau cover, is that this can be punctured with enough force. So if you want to prevent theft in that area, that's when you start looking at the hard tonneau covers. Now, the perks of a soft tonneau cover, is its very lightweight, it's easy to install, and it doesn't take up much space. So, we saw earlier how it did not cover our rear window of our Ram 3500. A larger, or a hard tonneau cover sometimes either has a canister that goes underneath, or folds up to cover that window. So different pros, different cons. This does not include a locking mechanism. Once your tonneau cover is secured, you can then only access it by lowering your tailgate. So your truck itself is the lock for your tonneau cover. This is so lightweight, that even I can install it all by myself. It can get a little tricky on your longer beds, just because you have to have clamps just to hold it up in place, as you use the clamps included with the kit to tighten everything down. So, if those larger, hard tonneau covers, those canister tonneau covers, seem kind of daunting, because they require lifting and the weight or help of other people to lift the weight, this does not require any of that. It's super easy to do. So, my personal thoughts about the Tonnosport tonneau cover, is that if you're looking to enter into the world of tonneau covers, and you don't really wanna spend too much, 'cause you're not sure what type of cover you want, this is a great way to start. It checks off most of the boxes. It covers your truck bed. We have a nice seal on the edge. It doesn't interfere with your tailgate. Doesn't take up room behind your window. Things like that. Hopefully this video helped you out with the different pros, the different cons. I personally think that if you have a larger bed, definitely find something that's a little easier to use, 'cause it does take some time to unroll and roll this back up. For your trucks with shorter beds and smaller beds, your compact trucks, this might be a great option for you, for a quick and easy tonneau cover to throw up on there whenever you need it.
