Features to know about

Stay Level and in Control: Up to 1,000 lbs of Front-End Support

When heavy gear or a front load makes the nose dip, steering and braking can feel off. These SumoSprings helper springs add up to 1,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They upgrade your front suspension to help your factory setup carry the extra weight, keeping handling confident and headlight aim where it should be.

Smooth Out the Rough Stuff: Progressive Load Control

Not all loads are the same, and that’s where these springs shine. They use progressive load control—compressing easily at first for light loads and soft engagement, then firming up as the weight increases. The microcellular urethane cushions bumps and absorbs road vibration so the ride stays comfortable whether you’re hauling or cruising empty.

Side-by-side comparison of SumoSprings Solo helper springs installed on a vehicle front axle, showing uncompressed and compressed states under different load conditions.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a curve leans you over or a gust hits hard, each spring works on its own to keep your vehicle balanced. This independent action helps reduce body roll, keeps both sides level through uneven ground, and makes steering feel planted when cornering or maneuvering under load.

Built Tough for Real Conditions: Durable Microcellular Urethane

These helper springs are made from microcellular urethane that stands up to abrasion, oils, salts, and UV rays. They handle temperatures from -25 F to 200 F and compress vertically with minimal side expansion, so they won’t rub or get damaged in tight spaces. With no air lines or pressure to monitor, they’re completely maintenance-free and ready for years of steady support.

Quick, No-Drill Setup: Custom Fit for Easy Installation

Getting dependable front-end support doesn’t have to be complicated. These jounce-style springs are custom fit and install without drilling. Just bolt them in with basic tools and head out knowing your suspension is ready for whatever load comes next.

Video Transcript for SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs-SSF-112-40: The Breakdown

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff @etrailer.com. Today, we'll take a look at the SumoSprings solo custom helper springs for the front axle. And this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2001-2014 Ford E350 sports mobile four by four conversion van, also the 2015 and newer models, 4350 sports mobile four by four conversion van, the cabin Chassis model. And on a custom fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this'll work for your application.

Now, these helper springs will upgrade your vehicle's front suspension for improved driver control and comfort, they'll support heavy front end loads to keep your vehicle level, helps to absorb any bumps and shocks, helps minimize sway and they are a progressive load control spring, which will compress according to the weight of your cargo.Basically if you have a lighter load on it, the springs compress easily at first for soft engagement, less bumpy ride. And if you have a heavier load on it, the springs will compress by as much as 80% for support. The springs will work independently from each other to compensate for any off center loads and reduce body roll during any sharp turns. They are made of a durable microcellular urethane, so they are designed to work in temperatures from a negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. And this micro cellular urethane also helps resist damage, it can be caused by oils, road salts and UV rays.

They do minimal lateral expansion, meaning the springs will compress vertically instead of to the sides, so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. And of course they're maintenance free. There's no tubing to run or air pressure monitor with air springs, there are very simple, no-drill installation. It does include the two joint style springs with the hardware and a tube of thread locker to install it with. These parts are made in the USA. Few specs on this, the weight capacity at 50% compression is a thousand pounds.

You do want to make sure to remember that SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. That should do it for the review on the SumoSprings solo custom helper springs for your front axle..

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

Appreciate you leaving a review Austin, It's always nice when a product exceeds expectations and these springs have been highly rated. Are you typically off road or do you plan on towing?

What most new RV owners don't know is that the chassis that their new mobile home sits on barely has the equipment to support that new home. Adding SumpSprings is going to improve your ride and help support the structure of your home. FYI, use a jack on the leaf springs to help align the holes on the bracket to the ones on the frame.

30 Minutes for all 4?! That's got to be some kind of record, Dennis! Glad the process was nice and easy and I hope they serve you well. Let us know if you do end up needing to go to the heavier duty yellow option as well, we always like to get real life experiences from people. : ) Any more trips planned for the year?

2018 ford F-250 Super Duty
eTrailer made the choice easy by offering advise on options and applications. Installation was also quite simple, though the directions were a little too simple. However, I was able to determine once installed prior to final torque, that the top plate could be rotated to align the helper springs with the corresponding flat plate on top of the differential/axel perch. Honestly, with daily driving if there is a difference I cannot tell, which is a GOOD thing. My F250 Powerstroke diesel, like most others, unladen has a firm ride. I did not want it to be more so. My 2018 does not fit in my garage not even close. So outside 24/7 since purchase, the OEM bumpstops at all 4 corners needed to be replaced and I wanted to upgrade them. These are quality no-maintenance bumpstops, and did not require any additional spacers to fit properly with my 2-2.5 inch leveling spacers. Paired with the Timbren SES for the rear, my Super Duty is set for all of my needs, including light to medium hauling / towing, for the foreseeable future. A huge shout-out to all of the people I spoke with for both purchases - thank you for all of your advise and assistance!!! eTrailer will most certainly be a first-stop should I need help with anything else I may need from all of their other and quite expansive upgrades for my rig.

I have a Workhorse W22 chassis. I installed steering dampeners and HD sway bar to reduce the "loose" steering. After installing the SumoSprings Front Spring helpers on the front end, 90% of the looseness on the front end disappeared. It is now a pleasure to drive. Very little sway from passing trucks and cross winds. I will be installing a set on the rear this year.

That is awesome to hear! It must be such a relief to not have to put so much energy into controlling the wheel while driving now.

2018 Thor Freedom Elite Motorhome
I recently purchased/installed SumoSprings for the front axle on my 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 28FE. Having previously purchased/installed SumoSprings for the rear axle I have to say that the overall improvement in ride/handling has exceeded my expectations. As always, etrailer provided valuable insights and prompt inquiries to my questions. The level of in-depth product knowledge amongst the etrailer staff is second to none. Thanks etrailer!

Ordering and delivery was quick and easy. The SumoSprings really improved the ride of our C Class RV. The only problem was one of the springs had cross threaded threads so I had to tap the treads to make it work. They were delivered in a plain brown box with no manufacture information or instructions. It makes believe the were a returned item, the previous purchaser couldn't get them to work either. I just had the tools and skill to correct the problem.

2006 Dodge Ram Pickup
2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW 5.9 Cummins 4x2
Original bump stops were dry rotted and almost not existent. Very easy install. Took about 30 minutes. The Sumo springs are engaged all the time. This may be due to the truck being a 4x2? You can feel the front end is stiffer over bumps and dips of the road, which I feel is ok and not extreme. Towing the 5th wheel I feel the truck handles better than before.
by:
These Sumo springs (as well as the ones I purchased for the rear of my RV) installed easily, fit perfectly and do a great job reducing vibration and improving ride quality. Very pleased.
by:
2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500
Installed front Sumosprings yesterday but have not driven vehicle yet. The front have full contact with the A-frames.
Should help with van side-to-side sway
.
Shopping around for a set to install on the rear as well.

2022 Winnebago Navion Motorhome
I’ve made several purchases from eTrailer and have been satisfied every time! Recently bought front and rear Sumo helper springs. Installation was a breeze. They have helped reduce the side to side sway caused by wind, freeway traffic and rough roads. So far im very happy with them.
by:
2019 Chevrolet Express Van
Installed Sumo Springs on my 2019 Chevy 4500 motorhome, I was looking for ride improvement without breaking the bank. These days so many products are marketed well but never match the performance that was promised. That is not the case with Sumo Springs!!! I am very pleased with the ride improvement, sway is gone when transitioning from different levels of pavement and the shock of bumps is 50% better!! Installed myself on front and back in about 1 hour, front ended up about 3/8” higher after a couple days, got front end alignment done but didn’t need any adjustment. Finished a 400 mile road day today and my wife and I are very pleased. Excellent product!!

That's awesome to hear, Edwin! Where did you head off to?

by:
these look like the perfect thing for my tired old helper springs, I put SumoSprings on my rear axel of my Jeep a year ago and the have made that ride much better hoping for the same with these.
by:
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Sumo springs greatly reduced body sway on my 2021 Mercedes Sprinter.
by:
2009 Winnebago Adventurer Motorhome
Have not had a chance to install yet but seem to be a lot better than what was on my RV. One thing I have noticed is the old part screws into a nut welded on the frame and the new SumoSpings bolt is to small to use the welded nut. So installation would be a lot easier if you could just screw it in.
by:
Sumo Springs really helped with the bumps in the front of the 2019 Ford E350 Winnebago! Very happy with them. Super easy install even though a bit awkward to reach the spot.
by:
Very easy installation. Would be nice if they were about 2” longer to get contact sooner but they were a good replacement for the hollow stock bump stops.
by:
Springs arrived on time without any damage. Installation was completed in about a half hour with a 10mm socket, 3” extension and ratchet to remove the stock bump block on our Ford E450. Then just thread the Sumo Spring in place of the removed block. This was the easiest upgrade I’ve done so far.
by:
Put these on a Sprinter and what a positive difference they made. One can still feel the poor shape of our roads but no more jarring as was the case before. Definitely worth it.
by:
toyota Tacoma
Springs are good, working well. My Tacoma is stock (no lift). With the front end jacked up and wheel/tires totally suspended I was not able to get the springs mounted. I had to cut off about 1/4 inch of threads to get them into position to screw then in. Once that was done everything was ok.
by:
gmc Sierra
Installation in a 2022 Sierra 2500HD was easy, used large Channel locks to remove factory, new ones popped in by blocking them with wood wedge while vehicle was jacked up and releasing jack quickly so all weight would come down at once.
Only have aprox 100 miles on new Bump Stops but ride feels smoother as they are engaged at rest, unlike factory that engage on bumps. Need more miles to fully review.

2004 Workhorse W-Series
These Sumo springs were a great upgrade. So easy to install, less than 20 minutes.

It was a great investment. It truly helped with the front end bouncing. I look forward to adding a set to the rear.

@Deborah Glad to hear it! Whenever you decide to throw some SumoSprings on the back of your 2004 Workhorse W-Series chassis you'll be looking for the Kit # SSR-280-54-1.
by:
Ordering was easy and shipping was quick. Installation was Super easy, took longer to lift Motorhome and set Jack stands then to install The SumoSprings.
Ride was much smoother and body roll was much improved.
by:
Installation was a straightforward and easy. The SumoSprings made a huge difference in the handling of the RV. The large sway left to right from wind or passing semi trucks has been effectively eliminated make the RV much more comfortable to drive.
by:
2025 Thor Quantum Motorhome
I installed front and rear on our 2025 Thor Quantum KW29. Very easy install for the front, rear's were a bit more work but nothing too difficult. My wife primarily drives the RV, it is "hers" :). She immediately noticed the difference in ride quality, less side-to-side rock/roll and was very pleased. Therefore, I am pleased. I look forward to a couple thousand mile trip shortly - that will make/ brake the four stars vs. five.
