Features to know about

Better Handling and Stability: Solid 1-1/2" Chromoly Bar Reduces Body Roll

If your front end leans too much in corners or feels loose on uneven roads, this solid 1-1/2" diameter sway bar ties everything together for a more planted feel. The 4140 chromoly steel construction keeps flex to a minimum, giving you tighter control through turns and quick maneuvers. It minimizes side-to-side movement so the ride stays level and steady, even when road conditions aren’t perfect.

Less Fatigue on Long Drives: Predictable, Controlled Steering

Fighting crosswinds and chasing the steering wheel on long drives wears you down fast. By cutting out body roll and sway, this bar helps hold your line without constant correction. The result is a smoother, more predictable drive where you can relax and stay focused instead of wrestling with the wheel mile after mile.

Built to Last: Polyurethane Bushings and Powder-Coated Finish

This setup trades soft rubber for polyurethane bushings that resist oil, gas, and ozone, keeping their shape and support longer. Less give means more consistent performance over time. The bar’s silver vein hammer-tone powder coat and black powder-coated brackets add corrosion resistance for a durable finish that stays looking good season after season.

Simple Install: Mounting Hardware Included, No Drilling Required

Bolt it on without cutting or drilling into your frame. The kit includes mounting hardware, lube for the bushings, and reuses your factory end links for an easier fitment. You’ll just need the Hellwig spacer kit (#7799) sold separately to complete the install. Once it’s in place, it’s a straightforward upgrade that delivers an immediate improvement in stability and steering confidence.

Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Hellwig Front Anti-Sway Bar

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Hellwig Front anti-sway bar. Now this is a custom fit anti-sway bar that is designed to fit those vehicles that you see there on your screen. Now my recommendation on custom fit parts, such as this one, is to take advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Input the year, make and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm that this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you.

Now this bar is going to help minimize that side to side movement, improving the overall stability of your vehicle, and this system is going to let you execute turns and quick maneuvers with confidence. And it's also going to help provide a level ride for you even on your regular surfaces. It's also going to help reduce driver fatigue and by minimizing the effort required to keep your vehicle in line, and it's also going to help diminish the effects of crosswinds, passing motorists and even shifting cargo. Now, this anti-sway bar does for side to side movement, what a good pair of shocks does for that up and down motion. And this is really going to give you an immediate marked improvement in your vehicle stability.

As soon as you install this, you are going to feel that improvement that this bar is going to provide for you. Now the bushings are made of polyurethane instead of the standard rubber. And just taking a look here at this particular bushing. These are going to be very durable for you. They're going to be resistant to damage caused by oil, gasoline, and ozone.

So less wear, means less give in the system. Now this bar, the diameter of this bar is one and a half inches, and this is made here in the U-S-A of solid heat treated chromoly steel, giving you that superior strength and this bar features a hammer tone finish. I would like to give you an overhead look here, a little closeup look at this actual finish. This hammer tone finish not only provides protection from corrosion, but it actually has little divots in the finish. So when you grease your polyurethane bushings and you slide them onto your bar, the finish is going to do a great job of actually holding that grease in, to prevent the bushings from squeaking.

So you should never really have to re-grease the bushings again because this finish is going to hold in that grease in the bushing. This does include easy to follow instructions and of course everything that you see here on the table before me, you're gonna get your bar. You're gonna get your brackets. You're gonna get the bushings. You're going to get bushing lubricant, and the hardware. I do wanna point out that you will reuse your existing vehicle end-links and this does require the Hellwig spacer kit and Hellwig identifies that spacer kit by their number 7-7-9-9. But if you want to find that on our website, we have our own item number attached to that spacer kit, and that item number is there on your screen. Now you do have the option of getting this front anti-sway bar and that spacer kit as a complete package. If you would like to check that out. I have our item number there for that kit on your screen as well. You can just take whatever item number you're interested in, put it in the search field of our website and that will take you to that item that you are looking for. This does have a limited lifetime warranty from Hellwig and that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Made the truck drive like a sports car! I can’t wait to put my slide in camper back on my truck and try it out . It’s bound to be an improvement.

by:

Great customer service the sway bar is a game changer in the wind

by:

Sway bar works as intended. But its showimg major surface rust. The paint did not hold up well. Other than that its fine

by:

Easy to assemble, easy to adjust, made a difference when towing our 5th wheel. Better overall ride,

by:

Our Ford E350 got blown all over the Interstate on trips. It was so dangerous at times. At first I installed Bilstein shocks and though they helped a little, installing the front and rear anti-sway bars and the steering stabilizer made all the difference in the world. I changed them all at the same time so I don't know which one helped the most. These are certainly quality products and are pretty easy to install.

by:

These were very easy to install and have made a huge difference in the handling of the Motorhome. I highly recommend these to anyone wanting to increase the stability of their RV both on the road and also while parked. Added these first then later added the Roadmaster steering stabilizer and the difference is night and day! No more white knuckle driving!! Well worth the money.

by:

Installation went very smooth. No issues, everything fit perfectly. Significant difference in the RV handling , stiffer ride and seems to handle the wind and tractor and trailers passing . Very satisfied and highly recommended.

by:

Hellwig makes a decent product and fills the gap of many aftermarket stuff. My order could have been packaged better and it was also missing the bolts for the control arm links. Other than that installation was straightforward and would consider purchasing from either company.

by:

Had my doubts about anti-sway making much of difference, but after I installed it and took it for a test drive, it was like day and night, along with a steering damper it almost drove like my pickup. I just don't understand why these motorhome manufactures don't install these things at the factory. This greatly improves handling as well as safety. So if you do the white knuckle death grip driving I would highly recommend you have this installed along with a steering damper. No regrets.

by:

The install video and product description shows you can use it in place of your existing swaybar. I watched all of the videos read the directions and the brackets did not lineup. Made sure it was for my make and model, had to make it work by bending a few brackets to fit. If I didn’t already have my RV disassembled in my driveway and was a pinch I would have returned it.

by:

The installation went well. Lots of rolling on the ground! Allowed two hours was closer to four hours when completed. Will need to get some mileage on the motor home to determine if it was worth it.

by:

It wasn't too hard to install yourself and it does make a difference with the sway

by:

Hellwig makes a great sway bar, and etrailer has great service ! What more can you ask ?

by:

Big and Beefy! For years, Hellwig has been my go to vendor when it comes to suspension augmentation for my towing needs. I am not surprised at the quality of this front sway bar. I am paired it with a new Hellwig rear sway at as well. It will make a huge difference when towing my heavy fifth wheel.

by:

My rig was equipped with one inch sway bars, front and back. Today was my first trip since I installed the inch and a half bar on the rear. Wind gust were up to 25mph. It made a world of difference in the effort it took to maintain my lane. Still took a little effort. I may go with the one and three eights bar on the front, along with sumo assist springs. That should eliminate all sway.

by:

This with sumo front and rear and Bilstein shocks bought locally improved the stability of our sprinter class C by multiple factors.
The handling went from sucking to this is pretty good. Why did we wait 2 years?

by:

I'm using both front and rear swaybars by Hellwig, along with a Safe T Plus steering stabilizer, and it's been like night and day when compared to what was OEM in my '25 Ford E450. I no longer experience the super flighty feeling when driving in high winds, and, while I won't say it drives just like my car, it is a much more solid and stable, and relaxed, driving experience.

by:

Really improved the handling. Passing trucks on the interstate isn't as uncomfortable anymore. Generally I can now drive one handed. One person can change them but two would be easier.

by:

sway bar adds strength to handle heavy tow and stability during normal driving. The big beast is actually much smoother with this and the Sumo spring helpers. It takes the annoying bounce out of the empty low weight drive also. Highly recommend!

by:

Thanks for the help on determining if my sway bar link is ok to use on my 2001 Ford E350 or if it's at too much of an angle. Attached are a couple of pictures I took of my install.

Please let me know if there is anything additional I can provide.

by:

Installed on 2026 F150 Tremor 402B. As the stock sway bar is even softer than the standard F150 HD bar to allow for more independant movement when offroading, this leads to increased body roll while onroad. The Hellwig sway bar exceeded my expectations for stabilizing and flattening the truck in turns. To have the trucks full offroad capability I just need to disconect the endlinks.Truck now handles incredibly well onroad, which is where is will mostly be driven. Installation was easy.

by:

The sway bar is definitely beefy and well made. Now that it’s installed I’m pleased with it and hope it helps with cross winds. Two small issues with the install. First we were missing the 2.75” bolts and Hellwig shipped them to me FedEx two day no questions asked but still a delay. Second, the U-Shape brackets are way too tight. Watched a video on YouTube and the guy warned us on this. There is no need for it to be this tight. Need to flex out the U brackets to squeeze in the washers. It’s almost impossible. Lastly the boxing of the bar is inadequate, it needs to be secured in better.

by:

Ordering was simple with the help of Andy. Item was delivered a day early.
We purchased the Hellwig front sway bar. Have only driven the unit back to storage (about 4 miles) so haven't been able to experience the end product. Can't wait to hit the road and not sway into another lane from an 18 wheeler going by us

by:

The instructions say to use the original mounting nuts on the new bracket. However, the holes on the bracket are too large requiring the use of washers to avoid the nuts from being partially in the holes. For the amount paid, you would think it would come with all of the appropriate mounting hardware. Not happy being delayed until a run to the hardware store for install.
I hope the ride is at least improved.

Thank you Etrailer and especially Gabby for answering a few technical and part number questions. The Etrailer YouTube tutorials were very beneficial in helping complete this DIY project, no problem! The upgrades with the Hellwig front and rear sway bars improved the handling and reduced the rock-n-roll sway across rough roads and in the corners as well as large trucks and busses passing by. The upgrades also included a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. This Thor Freedom Elite 25’ E350 chassis now drives more like a big pickup truck instead of a large RV. Thank you Etrailer, Hellwig and Safe-T-Plus. We’re ready to hit the road for long trips with confidence!!

  • Hellwig vs. Nolathane Sway Bar Bushings for a 2019 GMC Yukon
Hi Jon, I don't blame you for looking at something different after replacing those bushings three times. I'd be frustrated too. Based on what you've described, I do think the Hellwig setup is a solid move. I've seen really good long term results with their bushings, and I would expect them to hold up much better than what you've been dealing with. One thing I do want to mention is that premature wear with polyurethane bushings is usually caused by grease issues. The grease should only...

  • Front and Rear Hellwig Anti-Sway Bars for a 2018 GMC Yukon XL
Hey William, thanks for reaching out! For front and rear Hellwig anti-sway bars to fit your 2018 GMC Yukon XL you'll need the following: - Front # HE64GR (you'll also need Spacer Kit # HE39YR) - Rear # HE23GR I'm not seeing any trac bars that fit your Yukon, so it will just be the anti-sway bars for now.

  • Parts to Improve Towing With 2017 GMC Yukon XL
Hey Ron! What exactly are you experiencing when towing your Jayco? Is it the Jayco Jay Flight 242BHS? You have already added quite a bit to your 2017 GMC Yukon XL so I'm not sure adding more will be the solution. If your shocks and struts are worn out then that is probably a good idea regardless but I don't think you need to upgrade them otherwise. Are you using a weight distribution hitch (WDH) like the # WS79VR? If you have rear sag and are experiencing sway adding a WDH to your trailer...
