Nothing boosts road confidence like cutting down that side-to-side sway. This 1-1/4" diameter solid 4140 chromoly steel bar keeps the rear end tied down through turns and quick maneuvers. The result is a flatter, more predictable ride that makes cornering feel controlled and composed no matter the load or terrain.
When crosswinds, passing semis, or uneven pavement start to wear you out, this setup keeps things steady. By minimizing sway and body roll, it reduces the constant steering corrections that make long drives tiring. You stay comfortable and in control, even when the road conditions aren’t.
This isn’t a setup that quits early. Polyurethane bushings resist oil, gasoline, and ozone, so they hold their shape and support longer than rubber. The bar gets a silver vein hammer-tone powder coat for corrosion resistance, while the brackets are finished in black powder coat to stay strong and clean for years of use.
Everything needed comes in the box—zinc-plated mounting hardware, easy-to-follow instructions, and bushing lubricant. Drilling is required to mount the end links, but once it’s in place, the system delivers immediate stability gains without needing special tools or modifications.

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today I'm with Vern from Hellwig, and we have some sway bars here and I've put sway bars on my own personal vehicles for kind of more of a motor sport feel. And so something like this makes a world of difference. First turn, just everyday driving. But I've also installed larger ones. This is for an F53 RV chassis and you wouldn't expect an RV to make a huge difference with sway bars or think about performance, but they're top heavy. And the first thing you notice as soon as you put one of these on, just stabilize it.
So what exactly does a sway bar do You know, a sway bar really works to keep a vehicle level at all time. And a level vehicle is a safe vehicle. So you have, when you go into a corner or hit a curb, going over a curb, your vehicle wants to go side to side. And that sway bar actively works to bring you back to level every time. So how does one take a sway bar and get it mounted up to their vehicle So typically, it's a pretty simple.
It mounts in four places. So you can see here, here is the sway bar, it mounts to the axle and then at the end it mounts with end lengths to the frame of the vehicle. So for instance, the end link would attach to the end of the sway bar and this would attach to the frame. So at that point it's mounted in four places, it's secure and it works, the sway bar moves with the frame rolling on the vehicle. So how does this have movement As the vehicle rolls, the sway bar is really a giant spring that wants to return to levels.
So as the vehicle rolls from side to side, it works to bring it, the spring action works to bring it right back to the level place. So is it squeaky at all or is there any road noise that comes from it You know, they come from the factory with rubber bushings. Every vehicle is a front sway bar. It comes with rubber bushings. Rubber bushings are great for when they're brand new, but rubber deteriorates.
Hellwig supplies in every kit. Urethane bushings with bushing grease. And when you mount it on there, the biggest problem with polyurethane bushings is when they dry out, they squeak. When have a hammer tone finish here and it really has little divots in it. And when you grease these up and put the polyurethane bushing on it, they really do a great job of holding that grease in there forever. You should never have to re-grease it there. So there's a rhyme and reason to our hammer tone finish. Brad So it creates little pockets, basically, to hold that lubricant in rather than pushing it out and drying out. Vern Correct, a smooth finish would, it just washes out of there pretty fast. So that's why we do the hammer tone finish. Now sway bars, I'm a big fan of them, but many people want to use jounce bumpers or airbags to kind of counteract that sway. What's your take on that We still helper springs and one thing that a jounce bumper or a helper spring can do is they can help limit sway. So what they do is they bring it to it and they come to a stop. So it does limit the sway, but only a sway bar actively works to bring it back to level. We wish we had a product that did both, but you really need a sway bar to bring it back to level. So a sway bar's actively always there fighting against it whereas your downs bumper you do have to close that gap before it engages. And really, I mean it does limit how far the vehicle will sway over. So they can still use jounce bumpers or airbags in conjunction with an aftermarket sway bar. Yeah, absolutely. And if somebody wanted to run SumoSprings or even our helper springs, they work well together. Now Hellwig also offers the Big Wig series. What is that The Big Wig series is a larger diameter sway bar really designed for the 3/4-ton and one ton truck crowd. The Big Wig really shines when you have a cab over camper or anything that creates a vehicle to be top heavy and sway more so it's really designed for a working truck. You can still use the Big Wig even if you don't tow or haul loads too. It's our adjustability. Let's use the Big Wig for that. In fact, anytime somebody has a one ton truck, I always recommend the Big Wig. So adding sway bars, just kind of to wrap everything up. I've seen the difference. I've seen the reviews I've gotten to install sway bars and see before and after. It makes a world of difference. Hard to quantify. It's something, a feel that only the driver feels and it really makes a world of difference. So if you have that top heavy feel, whether it be from a muscle car and you just want a little bit better turn in, a little bit more tight feeling and just kind of a nice planted car for more grip, or you wanna make your RV just a better driving experience and everything in between, Hellwig probably has a product for you. You know, the one thing we hear over and over is when somebody puts on a sway bar, the difference is night and day. It truly is. And once you get one installed, you'll see we're not just talking. This is truly an awesome product. And the great part about suspension additives like this is, once it's installed, there's really no real maintenance and you get the benefits of it every time you drive. Great customer service the sway bar is a game changer in the wind
Made the truck drive like a sports car! I can’t wait to put my slide in camper back on my truck and try it out . It’s bound to be an improvement.
Our Ford E350 got blown all over the Interstate on trips. It was so dangerous at times. At first I installed Bilstein shocks and though they helped a little, installing the front and rear anti-sway bars and the steering stabilizer made all the difference in the world. I changed them all at the same time so I don't know which one helped the most. These are certainly quality products and are pretty easy to install.
These were very easy to install and have made a huge difference in the handling of the Motorhome. I highly recommend these to anyone wanting to increase the stability of their RV both on the road and also while parked. Added these first then later added the Roadmaster steering stabilizer and the difference is night and day! No more white knuckle driving!! Well worth the money.
Had my doubts about anti-sway making much of difference, but after I installed it and took it for a test drive, it was like day and night, along with a steering damper it almost drove like my pickup. I just don't understand why these motorhome manufactures don't install these things at the factory. This greatly improves handling as well as safety. So if you do the white knuckle death grip driving I would highly recommend you have this installed along with a steering damper. No regrets.
The Hellwig Rear Anti-sway bar was a perfect fit and took about 1 hour to install. The delivery was right on time as well. I highly recommend etrailer.
Installation went very smooth. No issues, everything fit perfectly. Significant difference in the RV handling , stiffer ride and seems to handle the wind and tractor and trailers passing . Very satisfied and highly recommended.
The install video and product description shows you can use it in place of your existing swaybar. I watched all of the videos read the directions and the brackets did not lineup. Made sure it was for my make and model, had to make it work by bending a few brackets to fit. If I didn’t already have my RV disassembled in my driveway and was a pinch I would have returned it.
Hellwig makes a great sway bar, and etrailer has great service ! What more can you ask ?
The installation went well. Lots of rolling on the ground! Allowed two hours was closer to four hours when completed. Will need to get some mileage on the motor home to determine if it was worth it.
Our Jayco Ford E450 chassis is so much easier to drive down the highway now with the Hellwig anti-sway bar! Great price good videos and easy installation! Photo is old vs. new. What a difference.
Very easy to install and the improvement with sway hauling a 4000 pound truck camper is amazing. I already installed the rear awhile back as well. I also installed new end links as well. 2000 Ford f350 4x4
My rig was equipped with one inch sway bars, front and back. Today was my first trip since I installed the inch and a half bar on the rear. Wind gust were up to 25mph. It made a world of difference in the effort it took to maintain my lane. Still took a little effort. I may go with the one and three eights bar on the front, along with sumo assist springs. That should eliminate all sway.

The upgrades with the Hellwig front and rear sway bars improved the handling and reduced the rock-n-roll sway across rough roads and in the corners as well as large trucks and busses passing by. The upgrades also included a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. This Thor Freedom Elite 25’ E350 chassis now drives more like a big pickup truck instead of a large RV. Thank you Etrailer, Hellwig and Safe-T-Plus. We’re ready to hit the road for long trips with confidence!!
This with sumo front and rear and Bilstein shocks bought locally improved the stability of our sprinter class C by multiple factors.
The handling went from sucking to this is pretty good. Why did we wait 2 years?
I'm using both front and rear swaybars by Hellwig, along with a Safe T Plus steering stabilizer, and it's been like night and day when compared to what was OEM in my '25 Ford E450. I no longer experience the super flighty feeling when driving in high winds, and, while I won't say it drives just like my car, it is a much more solid and stable, and relaxed, driving experience.
Really improved the handling. Passing trucks on the interstate isn't as uncomfortable anymore. Generally I can now drive one handed. One person can change them but two would be easier.
Installed on 2026 F150 Tremor 402B. As the stock sway bar is even softer than the standard F150 HD bar to allow for more independant movement when offroading, this leads to increased body roll while onroad. The Hellwig sway bar exceeded my expectations for stabilizing and flattening the truck in turns. To have the trucks full offroad capability I just need to disconect the endlinks.Truck now handles incredibly well onroad, which is where is will mostly be driven. Installation was easy.
The sway bar is definitely beefy and well made. Now that it’s installed I’m pleased with it and hope it helps with cross winds. Two small issues with the install. First we were missing the 2.75” bolts and Hellwig shipped them to me FedEx two day no questions asked but still a delay. Second, the U-Shape brackets are way too tight. Watched a video on YouTube and the guy warned us on this. There is no need for it to be this tight. Need to flex out the U brackets to squeeze in the washers. It’s almost impossible. Lastly the boxing of the bar is inadequate, it needs to be secured in better.
Ordering was simple with the help of Andy. Item was delivered a day early.
We purchased the Hellwig front sway bar. Have only driven the unit back to storage (about 4 miles) so haven't been able to experience the end product. Can't wait to hit the road and not sway into another lane from an 18 wheeler going by us
The instructions say to use the original mounting nuts on the new bracket. However, the holes on the bracket are too large requiring the use of washers to avoid the nuts from being partially in the holes. For the amount paid, you would think it would come with all of the appropriate mounting hardware. Not happy being delayed until a run to the hardware store for install.
I hope the ride is at least improved.
Sway bar was very well packaged and arrived with no damage and earlier than I expected. Everything I needed was in the box and I am anxious to get it installed. Excellent product and Thank you for all your help.
Haven't taken out on the freeway yet, but just pulling out of the driveway where normally my van would sway left and right as I turn onto the street, it just dips and settles. Looks good too!
Parts are great quality. Staff are great at communicating and keeping us informed. Out anti sway bar kit arrived with fast and safe delivery. Kit had all parts as shown.
