You don't have to fight the wheel through wind and passing semis. This stabilizer keeps your truck tracking straight and gives you more control to handle a blowout (if that happens), so you're not tired at the end of a long day of driving.
You've had tough experiences while driving. You white-knuckled when a semi blasts past and nudged things back on course through heavy winds. It's exhausting. With this stabilizer in place, the truck tracks straight instead of wandering and it cuts down on those constant corrections you have to make. It makes a huge difference when you spend hours on the road. When you stop fighting the wheel, you won't be worn out when you finally park.
A front tire failure is a nightmare scenario everyone dreads because it happens fast and the wheel yanks hard. If you've been through it, you know how helpless it feels when the truck wants to pull out of the lane. That's probably when this stabilizer really matters the most. It helps hold the wheel steady so you can slow down and bring your truck under control. It won't stop a tire from failing, but it can keep that situation from turning into something worse.
This stabilizer bolts on with hand tools and includes the mounting hardware for your vehicle. Once it's mounted, it has to be centered and torqued properly to work. If you're comfortable with those adjustments, you can handle it with some extra time. If not, we can help you find a trusted installer to handle the job. Either way, you only have to do it once, and it stays put.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at the Safety Plus Custom Fit Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Hardware Kit. Now, this has been designed to fit your 1997 to 1999 Freightliner FL series, the FL50 and the FL60 with either the airliner suspension or the Hendrickson air suspension. So on custom fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend going through our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer, pop in the year, make a model of your vehicle, answer any other questions that it might have for you. And our fit guide will do the work of confirming if this is gonna work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, this steering stabilizer is designed to make driving your vehicle feel more controlled and less stressful, especially on those longer trips.
This is going to help keep your steering centered so you're not gonna have to constantly correct the wheel when dealing with crosswinds, rough roads or passing semi trucks. One of the biggest safety benefits is, for instance, during a front tire blowout, instead of your steering wheel pulling sharply one way or the other, this stabilizer is gonna help maintain better control, giving you a better chance to safely guide your vehicle off the road. This is also gonna help reduce driver fatigue because you're making fewer steering corrections throughout the day. You're gonna be able to relax your grip on the wheel and arrive at your destination feeling less worn out. Now, in case you don't know, a steering stabilizer is one component of really a complete handling package that a lot of motorhome owners will purchase.
So that would include not only your front steering stabilizer, but also if there's sway bars available for your vehicle, a front and rear anti sway bar. So each is going to improve different aspects of the handling of your particular vehicle. Sway bars, of course, are gonna help reduce that body roll and just improve the overall stability of your vehicle. And the steering stabilizer, as we've been talking about, is going to keep your steering more controlled. It's gonna help reduce wandering.
It's gonna help minimize the effects of crosswinds and road imperfections. So together, a front and rear anti sway bar system and this steering stabilizer are gonna work together to give you a more stable, confident, and more comfortable driving experience. Now, this stabilizer itself, it's built for long-term reliability with a sealed hydraulic design that doesn't require routine maintenance, along with a durable protective finish that's going to stand up to the elements. Installation's gonna be pretty straightforward. It includes all the hardware that you see here on my table, along with instructions to guide you through the installation process.
This is gonna be a bolt-on installation. You're not gonna have to worry about welding or drilling. But if you do want help with installation, we do have you covered in that regard. On this product page, typically underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to install this for you. If you are interested in taking a look at sway bars and see if they're available for your vehicle, again, you can go through our Vehicle Fit Guide, and it will point you in the right direction. Again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.
