Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its front axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

The TruTrac System

Rut tracking occurs when your vehicle hits an uneven patch of pavement and is, consequently, pulled into that rut and off of the smooth pavement. With larger trucks and motor homes, this problem can be difficult to correct because you have to work even harder to steer back onto the road. With Roadmaster's TruTrac system, rut tracking is a thing of the past. The unique Trac rod attaches to the front axle of your vehicle, essentially holding it in place to prevent jarring and any unnecessary shifting. In addition to minimizing rut tracking, the TruTrac system helps to end driver fatigue by eliminating wander, which is the "loose steering" feeling that causes you to oversteer.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar and TruTrac rod are both made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in suspension applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the anti-sway bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points in both the anti-sway and TruTrac systems are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

Installation on my 07 W16 was not all that easy. I am 65 years old but have training and years of experience with mechanical systems. I would advise using a small hydraulic jack to hold the shock plate in place while replacing the u-bolts one at a time. The drivers side went quickly and very straight forward. A tungsten step bit makes enlarging the frame holes much easier than a twist bit. Every time I torqued the passenger side u-bolts they slid just enough to prevent the mounting plate from sliding on. I got it as close as I could and used a die-grinder with a large burr to clean out the somewhat crude holes in the mounting plate. On my motor home with 2 slide-outs and automatic leveling jacks, equipment was mounted to the inside of the frame right where the frame mounts had to go. On the passenger side I had to drill (drill press is best) new mounting holes in the supplied bracket to utilize one of the existing bolts and a lower hole for a supplied bolt. All of the bolts were a lot longer than necessary. All of the parts are over built if anything and disregarding the frame difficulties, I am quite confident the end result is very strong and should last a long time.

by:

excellent product and fantastic service. should have done in much earlier than I did

by:

I installed these anti-sway bars front and rear because I was fighting crosswinds and passing semi-trucks, very exhausting driving. Made a huge difference. Our old Newmar (Workhorse) had no sway bars at all.

by:

I installed this about a year ago, it helped the ride some, but the handing it really helped, You had to have hands on all the time, reminded me of a wreck looking for a place to happen, it is not for someone that can't do hands on installation, the instruction has a lot to be desired so if You can't use tools, hire someone to install, mine was missing a lot of bolts and nuts which was easier for me to run to Alabama Bolt and buy than it was to sit waiting on them to send re[placement, I would recommend this for anyone with a WorkHorse W22 or W24 undercarriage on your Motor Home......I also would recommend the kit for the rear, when installing this, like I said it helped, but nothing like what the rear did, read about it on that Kit

by:

The anti-sway bar and trutrac bar make a huge difference (with the rear anti-sway bar). Installation was straightforward, the parts all fit well.

2006 Workhorse W-Series

The good is that the parts are first class, and it works very well. Even being mechanically inclined, the directions could use an upgrade. Needs more help where the spaces go.

Instructions with pictures could be better.
The instructions are for the sway bar only then the trac stabilizer as another kit. Seemed like it was to generic of instructions.

by:

Amazing. Can't believe I've been literally rolling around the country without this. Can't wait to install the rear one now. Suspension is so tight. Awesome

by:

It really added stability and made my motorhome more manageable to drive.

by:

fast shipping. easy to install.

by:

This has been one of the best improvements that I've made to my RV and I was able to install it in an afternoon. It helps with handling on bumpy roads and windy conditions. All RV's should have these.

2004 Workhorse W-Series

when I decided to upgrade my w22 workhorse suspension on my 36 ft Coachman Santara , the concern was sway and control on the interstate surrounded by the big rigs from 50 to 70 mph, My Coachman would get to be a hand full due to cross and push winds.
I installed the front and rear roadmaster sway bars, front and rear trac bars and a reflex steering stabilizer.

We have just what you need to improve the handling of your 2006 Fleetwood Bounder W22 chassis with the rear sway bar part # RM-1259-109. For Class A motorhomes like yours the biggest ride quality improvement you can make is with a rear sway bar. This will be a night and day difference. • Should Roadmaster Trac Bar or Steering Stabilizer be Used to Improve Steering on W22 Chassis
The front trac bar that comes in the Roadmaster Kit # RM-1259-106 that you referenced will do the same job as a steering stabilizer but won't be as effective. For the best of both worlds I recommend going with the front Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1259-105 and the Steering Stabilizer # RM-RBK13-RSSA. The trac bar is a piece of metal that adds stability while the stabilizer uses a spring to push you back to a neutral position. If your 2005 Dolphin is 33' or longer then the rear anti-sway bar you...

When installing the Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar and TruTrac Rod Kit # RM-1259-106 you will want those brackets sit flush; you can enlarge the hole or drill a new one so that you can get the bracket sitting flush to the rail. My contact over at Roadmaster also recommended using Red Loctite # LT37420 when completing the installation, if you don't already have some.

  • Front and Rear Anti-Sway Bars for 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire 3778 Motorhome on Workhorse W-24 Chassis
According to the original sales brochure I looked up, your 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire 3778 was built on the Workhorse W-24 chassis. The same brochure states that the overall length of your coach is 37 feet 5 inches. Given that information, you'd want to use the Roadmaster # RM-1259-109 for the rear anti-sway bar and # RM-1259-105 for the front. Sway bars essentially lock the axles down to the vehicle frame, so they can't rack which causes wandering and unwanted body roll. A steering...

No, they are not. For the Roadmaster TruTrac Rod Kit item # RM-1259-106 we only have the Replacement Polyurethane Bushing item # RM-205209-00 which is part number 23 on the installation instructions linked below. They're sold individually. The sleeve you are looking for is part number 205504-00, number 22 on the installation instructions, and we do not have it. The only difference between Roadmaster front anti-sway bar # RM-1259-105 and # RM-1259-106 is that the latter, # RM-1259-106, also includes a Roadmaster TruTrac front axle track rod that keeps the front axle in line. It would be more stable than a new anti-sway bar alone. I have included a link to the instructions for both. As far as the front and rear anti-sway bars being different diameters, it will not be a factor since the front and rear axles are independent of each other. Also the...
