When a tall or loaded rig starts leaning through corners, things can feel unsettled fast. The 1" diameter Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar ties the frame to the axle so weight transfers evenly in tight turns or quick maneuvers. It balances side-to-side movement and keeps the ride level, even on uneven pavement or when road conditions change suddenly.

Crosswinds and passing semis can push you around more than you’d like. This bar braces the rear axle to the chassis, cutting out that sway that makes you constantly correct the wheel. The result is steadier tracking down the highway and less effort to keep things straight, so you can relax and stay focused on the drive instead of fighting the steering wheel.
The bar itself is made from thick 4140 chromoly steel, which is harder and stronger than the 1020 steel found in many stock setups. That extra stiffness translates to nearly 30 percent better sway resistance. Heavy-gauge mounting hardware locks everything down tight, giving you a rock-solid connection between axle and frame that doesn’t flex under load.
Instead of soft rubber, Roadmaster uses polyurethane bushings that stand up to oil, gasoline, and ozone. They hold their shape and support longer, so you don’t get that “mushy” feel over time. The bushings allow just enough movement to absorb uneven pressure without giving up firmness, keeping the system responsive mile after mile.

No drilling is required here. The bar mounts to the rear axle and frame using the supplied hardware and bushing lubricant. It’s designed to clear most aftermarket accessories and works with a front anti-sway bar if you decide to add one later. Everything you need comes in the box, making a driveway install straightforward with basic tools.

Hey there, heavy haulers. Today, we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster Rear Anti-sway Bar for Trucks. You can use our fit guide to find the right sway bar for your truck. This is what our sway bar looks like when it's installed. You can tell that it's significantly larger than our factory sway bar. This is what our old sway bar used to look like right here.
There's just really no comparison on how much thicker and stronger this sway bar is. This one here, I can't bend whatsoever. This guy, it was providing some support and I know I'm pushing it together, which really isn't how sway bars work. They work in a twisting motion, but this one is significantly smaller and is going to provide not nearly as much anti-sway as our stronger, larger bar here. The main purpose of upgrading to a larger sway bar like this is to help minimize sway. As you're going down the road and you make turns or evasive maneuvers, the body wants to roll.
As that rolls, it kind of throws you around in the cabin and makes it more difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. Also, when it sways, it shifts weight in a direction which could cause the vehicle to start to pull or slide in that direction. By minimizing the sway, it just helps stabilize the vehicle and provide you with more control and stability. Having a larger bar here is going to do just that for you. Also in this kit, you're going to receive new bushings, shackles, and hardware. So if you've got an old sway bar that's just got worn out bushings and you're looking to just repair it and you're wanting to upgrade it to have less sway, to be able to haul heavier items without feeling it throwing your truck around when you're going around those turns, this kit comes with all those components too.Let's go ahead and get a baseline measurement and we're going to hit the test course with our factory sway bar on there.
First, we're going to be in the bump section, which is going to simulate a pothole. The rear end does make quite a bit of noise and it doesn't feel that tight. There's a lot of back and forth rocking going on. Lastly, we're going to be going into our slalom section and this is going to simulate an evasive maneuver. On our slalom course, you can really feel how loose the truck is as we weave back and forth.
It's honestly a little scary to drive this, performing these big evasive maneuvers, so I can only imagine what it would be like if our truck bed was fully loaded. Now that we've got the new sway bar installed, I'm going to go ahead and take it out on the test course and we're going to see how it compared with our factory results. First, we're going to be in the bump section, and as we go over these bumps, we can definitely tell there is less rocking back and forth. It does seem to stiffen the vehicle up a little bit, so if you're concerned about having a smoother ride, this isn't really going to make it smoother, but this is really designed for those guys hauling heavy equipment so it's going to be more beneficial for them. Next we're going to be heading into our slalom section, and this is going to simulate an evasive maneuver. During this section, this is where I expect to see the biggest improvements as our sway bar is considerably larger than our old ones. So when we head up here, we're going to go ahead and start ripping her back and forth. Oh yeah, it definitely . wow, it really grips pretty good. It's actually pretty fun to drive. Considerable improvements over your factory components. In the end, upgrading your truck's rear anti-sway bar lets you execute turns and quick maneuvers with confidence, while reducing driver fatigue and minimizing the effort required to keep your vehicle in line due to crosswinds, passing motorists, and large shifting cargo. The 4140 chromiley 00:03:32 steel is going to be considerably harder and stronger than your factory installed sway bar. If you're concerned about up and down motion or your vehicle sagging down in the back, I suggest upgraded jounce bumpers or a set of airbags. That completes our look at the Roadmaster Rear Anti-sway Bar for Trucks.

I have taken a few trips with the Clatter Cabin now. It’s been enjoyable to drive. Since then I have replaced the exhaust from the engine back with 2 12 inch pipe. I was able to get the pre bent exhaust parts over the axle and clear your rear sway bar nicely. Now she purrrrs!

Install looks great Steven! I can't wait for you to take it out for a spin so you can see the difference for yourself, it is amazing what a upgraded sway bar does to your ride, no more white knuckles for you, or your wife. What big stops do you have planned on your trip to the West Coast?

What I recommend is touching it up with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum. We will be in contact with you about the damage. Please keep an eye on your email.

After a year and many miles I would give it a five star for sure. Made a great improvement over the stock anti-sway bar. With the rear and front RoadMaster anti-sway along with the RoadMaster steering stabilizer the E-450 33 foot class C motorhome drives like a dream. I highly recommend these three products. If not all at once then this order, 1st rear anti sway bar then 2nd front and then the steering stabilizer with the spring on it.

High-five on the install, Curtis! Also, thanks for sharing all the pictures and showing all the angles of the sway bar. They are really helpful for anyone looking to tackle this install themselves at home!

Sounds like a much smoother drive, Riley! I looked up your camper to see how tall it is and I can see exactly why its called a Bigfoot. What's been your favorite place you've traveled to so far with the camper?

The two Roadmastercsway bars weve been using continue to impress and perform like they did on day one. Driving back across the country with some days having stiff criswinds continually we rode comfortably and never had handling or steering issues. I remain adamant that these are undoubtedly the best products on the market for this application and welcome any questions. For reference my truck is a 2018 F350 crew cab DRW, 6.7 diesel 4x4 long bed with Bigfoot 3000 series truck camper. Get the Roadmasters!

Love this review Charles! It really is amazing the difference an upgraded sway bar, or adding a sway bar can do. Personally I think that every truck should come with a rear sway bar, it is sad that most do not now a days. Where did you go for your first trip?
Do you have a question about this Anti-Sway Bar?

This is a complete game changer when using a truck camper Mine is an Arctic Fox 990. I would list this under a must have accessory when using a truck camper. Unloaded ride when you hit off camber bumps is slightly rougher, but hey its a Ram 3500 dually for hauling heavy stuff. Also the performance when carving twisty canyons with an empty truck is astonishing....Watch out Corvetts, here I come!
