Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be looking at the Bauer Products Rotary Latch for your RV doors. So this is going to be a really nicely made door latch to replace a broken or damaged or maybe just upgrading to a better style latch for your door. The thing that I like about this, is that you can use this in either configuration. So, either for the right hand or left hand configured door, can be pretty versatile in that respect. And it's also pretty heavy duty, just the feel of it is pretty hefty. So that always bodes well, anything that's metal you like when it's a little bit heavier instead of feeling cheap lighter stuff.
So that gives me the confidence that this should last for a long time. The powder coating over the top feels really nice, as well, it's seems pretty thick. So I don't think you should have too much issues with any scratches or abrasions or anything. So it should stay looking nice, it should keep the latch protected.Another little thing that I noticed that was nice is that it's spring loaded for the latches. So the handles themselves have a spring there but the actual door striker, if you put it in place and then release that handle, it springs out.
So, that just seems like it's going to actually open your door a little bit, so you're not having to pull it open. Especially when you're getting into your RV, have to reach up, so this'll help open that door for you and open it up and make sure that you can get into your RV without any issues. So again, you can use this in either configuration to match with either your right hand or left handed door. It is made out of a sturdy zinc construction with that matte black finish. So should stay, again, looking nice for many years. You can get a keyed option, if you have any other Bauer products.
It does come with two keys, so you can have one for a spare and then another one on your key chain. You can lock and unlock it from the inside using this little switch. Whenever those two dots are lined up, that means that it's unlocked. So we just flip it over to the side, that deadbolt comes out and locks our door. Of course, the keys will do the same thing, so put that key in there.
Kind of hard to do from behind the lock here.So when you're first using this, it might be a little tricky to get that key in place but there we go. So that's one thing, when ever you're coming at it straight on, probably should be easier but you might have a little bit of trouble like I did. So that's one little knock against it but it also could just be, I'm not used to using keys or something. I don't know. The action feels pretty nice on that lock, moves really smoothly. And something I've noticed from Bauer products is that they're pretty good at keeping everything or having everything pre lubricated. So even just looking inside, there's a lot of grease already on all of those moving parts. So that just helps to maintain those metal components over the years, to make sure that they're not going to rust up and wear out. Pretty simple to get this guy installed. It does come with the mounting hardware and that striker for the door. It does not come with the mounting hardware for this portion. So that's the one thing that you will have to provide on your own but it gives you that nice sturdy striker plate for the latch to grab onto. I'm just going to open this up, so you can see the inner workings and then I'll give you some measurements to make sure that this is the right fit for your cutout on the door. This does work with one and a half inch thick doors. So just keep that in mind. Take our four bolts out, you can see the inner workings. So pretty straight forward, not too much to really worry about. Since it's just that mechanical latch, there's not too much that can fail on you.As far as the cutout size or this portion, that's actually going to go through the door. It measures about six and a half inches. Keep that lined up there. Six and a half by about five inches, if we go from this side to where our deadbolt would come out. So that's going to be what actually fits through the door. If we put everything back together, get this lined up, here we go. And put down in place. The overall housing is about seven inches wide by about seven and a half. Just to give you an idea of how big that housing is all overall. All in all, I think this is a really nice latch. Again, it really works smoothly. I think them having all that lubrication on the components helps with that to just make sure that everything moves really well and easily. And again, it feels like a really nice heavy construction. So it's nothing flimsy, no cheap metal in this. And I think that that means that it's really going to last you for many, many years, if not the life of your coach.I'm just going to get these guys run down and really that's all you need to get this installed, as long as it fits your door, is a Phillips head screwdriver. So pretty simple and then some hardware to attach this guy. But that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the Bauer Products Rotary Latch for your RV. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right latch for you. We do have a lot of options for accessories and parts here at etrailer.com for all kinds of RV needs, so check them out. Thanks for watching.

Upgrade the original latch on your horse or utility trailer lock to this durable locking latch.I own a 2020 Thor Four Winds 28Z class C motorhome and the original main door lock broke. This lock is a direct replacement for the rig. No mods necessary. After installing and noting/saving the key number in a safe note/place make sure to file/sand off the key number imprinted on the actual lock cylinder as anyone could just use that number to order a key and use it to break in into your RV. The lock seems very heavy and durable. Highly recommend it.
Though spendy, this lock is still half what Newmar wants for one. The lock is heavier and better constructed than the OEM lock. The only thing that I don't like is it's a little harder to grab on the inside when closing. The lock went in almost perfectly, I had to file some of the fiberglass to get the new one. Fit and finish is good and required virtually no adjustment to work.
Perfect replacement
It wasn’t quite the right size but we made it work. Great customer service!
I was pleased to find a business that actually had the locks for motorhomes. The staff I dealt with were excellent. The shipping was 7 days, very good because we live in a remote location in British Columbia. I actually developed respect for and trust in the representatives I dealt with. That bodes well for the future. I for one will tell everyone I know to order parts from your company and I suspect they will be satisfied too. Thank You All
Excellent service!!! Jessica W. was super friendly and helpful from beginning to end...
