When replacing gas shock on your vehicle or RV, you will want to make sure you are buying a replacement with the exact same extended length, compressed length, and pounds of force. This information is usually printed on the shock. Lengths are measured from the center of the ball joint used for mounting. If you are planning on installing gas shocks on something for the first time, identifying the shock you need requires fairly complex initial calculations, so be sure to do your research to avoid purchasing a shock that will not fit your application.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this replacement gas shock. Now, this JR Products gas shock is going to replace one worn or damaged shock on your RV entry door or storage doors. This features a durable, black nitride finish that's going to resist corrosion. And this is a ball and socket installation that's going to attach to 10 millimeter ball studs.
Now, let me pull out my tape measure here and just go over some measurements with you, so you can be sure that this is going to work for your situation. The extended length and I'm measuring center of socket to center of socket, we are sitting right at 16 inches on that extended length. And the compressed length is gonna be about 9 15/16 inches. And this does have 60 pounds of force. And an instruction sheet is included to help you with the installation process.
Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

Very satisfied. Good product.
The Stabilus shock holding the 22" door of our bumper pull trailer open was weak. Mild wind would push it shut. This shock fit right onto the existing ball joints. A small blade screwdriver pried the "c" clip back, allowing me to slip the socket over the ball, and the clip snapped into place. Maybe 30 seconds and the shock was installed.
The biggest challenge was determining what force I needed in the replacement. The existing shock had the model information scraped away where it rubbed on the door threshold. No where could I find on the etrailer site what force a small door shock should be. I ended up chatting with an RV service tech I know, who looked it up in his parts catalog. Turns out 10 lb force is standard except for large RV doors. I would suggest etrailer.com add this information on their online catalog. Maybe it's there and I couldn’t' find it? "Gas shock force needed for RV doors."
Thanks for your email. I didn't get a notification that the product was delivered! (USPS failed to do so).
Received package as advertised and in a timely manner. I appreciate your assistance with the order. Because it was delayed I was very impressed with etrailer keeping me informed of status during the waiting period.
Thank you etrailer! I'll be back when need you again.
Honestly, this is a 40lb gas shock. What more can you expect? I'm leaving this review for etrailer. Customer service is top notch, they notified me that this product was on backorder and offered to sub it out for a 20lb shock, but unfortunately for our application, a lighter shock would not work. They also contacted me when the shocks were delivered to make sure everything was good. That kind of customer service is hard to come by in todays world, and I sure am happy I found it here. Thanks!
After installing, the door wouldn’t close due to the end connections being too tall. I ended up swapping the old end connectors, which are just on threaded ends. Now working just fine. Jayco Greyhawk 2020 Class C.
Great service and advise on how to install. So many different ways to measure but Steve explained the correct method and it fit. Nice upgrade so the bed is easier to lift.
The selection process was easy to follow. I needed gas struts with a greater lift capacity for our under bed storage due to the addition of a memory foam mattress. I was able to select a strut pair with the proper length and extension from the website. The struts were received quickly and were exactly what I needed. The bed now raises gently and remains elevated.
Shipping package was way too large for items shipped. One item said read enclosed instructions for installation. There was none.
Hopefully will get some info from etrailer online.
Haven’t put them on yet but the ones I have changed were very easy with a helper to hold the bin door up
The head that attached to the bottom door jamb was way to huge couldn't close the door I was able to switch the one from the old strut the thread size not the same I had to force it on most likely will pull off I ordered the 30 pound for my fifth wheel door if people ask the 20 pound model is the correct size but I chose the 30 pound my mistake
I bought this for my boat's electronics box. It works very well. Hopefully it will hold up in the salt environment.
Perfect fit, works as expected.
Couldn't get the exact part I needed thru Amazon due to us being full timers and moving weekly. This part worked but I had to swap the connection off one end of my old strut onto this one so it would fit under the door.
Defective Will not allow door to close. Stops about 4 inches before door closes. Took one of the end fittings off and repaired my old one. Length and pressure matched.
When my package arrived it was beat up and one of the clips on the end of the shock was missing, not what I would give a good report !!
This strut did not fit precisely due to the thickness of the end connectors. They are thicker than the original strut and since the strut has to fit between the bottom of the door and the threshold in the closed position it would not allow the door to close. I found that by exchanging the end connectors with the original strut I was able to install the strut and close the door. The only problem with this solution is that the new strut with the old connectors is slightly longer than the old strut/connector assembly and now allows the door to open slightly farther than before. Our awning arm just barely clears the door when opening and closing so will have to be very careful from now on when extending and retracting the awning. Our motorhome is a Sunseeker 3010ds model in case this is helpful to others ordering this product.
Shock is correct length. However the ends are larger and do not fit under door. Had to use the old shock ends on new cylinder.
Item was exactly as advertised, easy installation, fits perfectly on our RV door. Our previous gas shock was worn out & would not hold the door open. This product is sturdy & stable. It fixed the issue.
Product was damaged and not received, but etrailer stepped up and sent another gas prop. More companies should have these work ethic’s. Good job
THESES WERE ORDERED TO HOLD THE BED UP AND HAVE MADE MY WIFE VERY HAPPY AS SHE STORES ALOT UNDER THE BED AND THEY HAVE WORKED VERY WELL.
Exactly what I needed for my Kwik Kamp motorcycle trailer! It's nice to share information in our group when we find parts to use for our discontinued campers.
