Today we're going to be taking a look at Jensen's Voyager Rear Camera with LED low light assist, part number VCMS17B.This camera's going to be a great way to upgrade or add a rear camera to the back of your RV. So if you've got an older style with a smaller screen, this one's great because it works with the newer 16 x 9 displays and offers full color display. The camera features infrared LED's to assist with low light situations. The camera can also self contrast for high brightness situations so you're going to get optimal clarity in all weather situations.The casing is weather proof, so you don't have to worry about any moisture entering the camera and causing poor picture quality or damage to the camera. It comes with the included mount. Now it doesn't come with mounting hardware to attach it to your RV.
You will need to get your own self-tapping screws or other hardware. You can pick up some hardware here at e-trailer.com. If we don't have what you need for your particular RV, you can pick it up at your local hardware store. The camera does include the screws that attach the camera to the mount, and the mount will allow the camera to tilt up and down so you can get the most appropriate position for your RV.Once you've got your camera mounted, you simply need to route the wiring up to your display. On our RV, we're using Jensen's 9000 series entertainment system.
Now since this is mounted to the back of your RV, if you're unable to use your existing wiring, you may need some extensions to get it all the up to your entertainment center. You can pick up extensions here at e-trailer.com and they come in varying lengths. For our particular RV here, we did need a 75 foot cable, which you can pick up with part number CEC75.Here we have our display showing what our camera is seeing there at the back. This is great for backing up to a vehicle if you have a flat tow set up, this makes it easier for you to determine the distance that you need to be to make those connections so you don't have to pull your vehicle forward and backward. Additionally if you're pulling your vehicle up to it, you can have somebody sitting inside to monitor it.
It's also great for braking systems that may be installed, because they typically have an LED indicator on the backside of your rear view mirror to let you know when the brakes are being activated in your vehicle. So here you're on the fly while driving down the road, you can monitor your braking system's working properly. You see here we've left some boxes on top of our vehicle. So you can double check yourself before leaving the campsite to make sure you're not leaving anything behind.The overall dimensions of the camera is 2 3/4 inches wide, 1 3/4 inches tall and 2 inches deep. Just what I needed to replace an old B&W voyager camera.
I used this to replace an older model camera that had failed and was no longer available. This was the recommended replacement. The image is sharp but the colors are so bad it’s laughable. Trees look almost purple. And while etrailer had as good a price as anyone, voyager prices these at an insane level.
Good replacement for original, looks to be surviving the elements. I’m going to mount it lower as it is on a Rv near the roof. For my needs it would be better near the hitch. Better perspective when backing.

So far so good. The camera works great and the image is spot on and clear. Of course part of that enthusiasm comes from the fact that it replaces a non-functioning version that the prior owners of this RV had allowed to get about a quarter of a cup of water into it. The service at etrailer was excellent and they worked with me to get me a price break based on their "lowest price guarantee". Much appreciated and makes working with a group that is knowledgable re their products all the more enticing and pleasant. You get the product at the best price possible and people who can help you with it if need be.
No problem here! Previous model in RV failed after some hard years and this replacement camera was no problem to install and quality picture is outstanding. Since this was an RV, the end connector was buried in the wall system somewhere so had to cut and splice the cable. No old school soldering here. The cable which is about 26 AWG was spliced with solder seal butt connectors which only requires a heat gun to solder. They were from BearMoo and labeled as solder seal wire connector. Job was done in no time. Delivery was also exceptional and lost no vacation time for waiting or installing.
I plugged in the camera and I only get sound and no picture?
Both my right and left cameras work for the blinkers?
Any info what this could be also says no input but speaker works.
