Video Transcript for Camco RV Water Heater Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve Spec Review

Hi there RV and camper owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Camco's water pressure relief valve. This water pressure relief valve has a half inch inlet and outlet, and is designed to protect your pipes in your trailer or RV from an over pressure or an over temperature condition. The relief valve is set at 150 psi. So in the event that the outlet of your water heater is exceeding that, the valve will open and it will dump that excess pressure out through the hose that we've routed down underneath our RV. You will have to purchase the additional hose and potentially an adapter to get it attached to get it all set up, but you can get those at your local hardware store. In addition to protecting your system from an overpressure condition, it also protects it from temperature.

There's a four-inch probe that comes off of it to detect temperature, and it's designed to relieve any excess pressure once it hits about 210 degrees Fahrenheit, because at 212 degrees, that's when boiling occurs. And once the water starts to boil, pressure is going to rise very drastically. So it wants to stop that from occurring before it gets there. While many of the tank water heaters have relief valves made into them, a lot of your tankless units don't. And if you just replace one and you don't have a relief valve, you really want to add one to your system as a safety precaution. In the event you didn't have one, once the pressure gets to a certain point, your pipes can only hold so much pressure, and at that point they're going to burst.

And you don't want hot water bursting out potentially on you or on any of the items in your trailer or RV. On this particular trailer here, we just got done removing the tank water heater and replacing it with this tankless unit, which is going to be more efficient and it's also going to ensure that they never run out of hot water unlike that tank unit which would runs out usually after one person takes a shower. With this, we did have to buy a couple of additional components. A T here to put it in line with the outlet for the hot water. But once it was installed, at this point now we are protected from over pressure and over temperature for our system so we don't have to worry about any expensive repairs in the future or anybody getting a potential burn from over pressure or over temperature. The metal has an epoxy coating on it, which is going to protect it against corrosion so you can have long lasting operation of your valve.

When installing this on many of your metal to metal contexts, you do want to use some thread tape to ensure it seals. You can get some Valterra thread tape here at etrailer.com. And that completes our look at Camco's water pressure relief valve.

Haven't ever had it trip in use, I flip it manually after every camping trip to release any remaining pressure.

4" probe is not compatible with the Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater we purchased, I added a 2-1/2" riser to the heater to make this work. (Parts for my camper aren't available locally (closest RV repair is 100 miles away, and they always have to order anything I need) no local plumbing service had anything shorter either and needed this repair completed the day it arrived).

It's doing its job. And always fast shi pping

Carol and the whole Group at etrailer were fantastic to deal with. Being a newby to the RV world, everyone was extremly helpful and understanding. Even when i had a manufacturer issue with a part they stayed on the manufacturer until THEY got satisfaction, how many companies are out there that will stand behind thier products like that? My experience has created a customer for life and a moving billboard at that :)

by:

Easy install, perfect fit, and for those campers, you better consider replacing the hot water pressure gauge on the tank, even if it looks okay. I replaced mine from etrailer.com

  • Tankless RV Water Heater Replacement For Atwood GC10A-4E
Definitely a smart idea to replace your Atwood heater with a tankless unit, as they are much more energy-efficient and quicker to heat your water. We do have an option that will easily fit in place of your 16" x 15-1/2" x 20-7/8" Atwood GC10A-4E, which is a unit from Furrion, and it will require the correct size access door as well: - Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR - Access Door for Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater - 18" x 18" # FR73FR Th Furrion measures 19-3/16" deep x 12-5/8"...

The best option to replace your Atwood 6-gallon G6A3, gas-only water heater is another gas-only heater, but one that is tankless, from Furrion: - Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR68SR Tankless water heaters are much better options because they use up far less energy and give you hot water on demand so you don't have to wait around waiting for the water to warm up. I suggest you first take some measurements to verify fitment. However, specs available to me show dimensions of, 16" W x 12-1/2" H x 18"D. For the Fogatti RV Water Heater # LSB64FR, overall dimensions are 14-3/8L x 15W x 15D. The access door is 14-15/16" H x 14-15/16" W. • Fogatti Tankless Water Heater Drains Every Time It Is Used
I reached out to the manufacturer and it would seem you probably have an open/faulty Drain screw. Pull off DRAIN PIPE and use 3/16" flat blade screwdriver to make sure DRAINAGE SCREW is tightened all the way clockwise in its housing. Replace DRAIN PIPE and test. If that doesn't work it might be a faulty temp/pressure relief valve. When the valves go bad they start to vent when the pressure is not at the danger level. This can be just dripping to a full blown spray. There is not an adjustment...

  • Do Furrion or Fogatti Tankless RV Water Heaters Use More Propane Than Tank Heaters
Excellent question, and tankless water heaters like those from Furrion or Fogatti will actually use less propane than their tank counterparts. The reason for that is the tankless heaters only use propane as the water is being used, so if you hop in for a quick shower, for example, propane will only be used when you have the hot water on. Tank heaters, on the other hand, heat the whole tank of water (and take much longer to heat), so even if you don't use the whole tank of hot water with...
