These Rhino-Rack products are solid. Installation was quite simple. It took me no more than 2 hours from taking off the OEM rails to getting the crossbars to tighten down.
Keep in mind that these legs were designed for the Toyota Prado (it even says so on the installation guide). Once you remove the Lexus OEM rails, you will notice a groove, about 3/4" deep and 1-1/8" wide, alongside the roof. If your GX does not come with the OEM rails, the grooves might already be covered up by the factory drip trim pieces (Toyota PN 75557-60050, 75555-60030). This Rhino rack kit does not come with any hardware to cover up the grooves. I was told they would not cause any leaks because the mounting points are tightly sealed.
But if you have severe OCD like me, those grooves will be bothering you (even though you can't see them). Instead of paying over $xxx for the OEM trims pieces. Fill them up with some 3/4"wide 3/8 inch thick insulation tape, then tape a strip of 1" wide, 1/8" thick neoprene rubber strip on top. The end product looks just like OEM. I hope my simple idea will help other fellow OCD survivors.
We had been shopping around for roof options for our new 2022 grand Cherokee, when we came across this. For us, the OEM mopar crossbars were ugly - extend about 6 inches from the roof. These are very low profile, and insanely sturdy. Additionally, installation is crazy simple.
The only recommendation we have that differs from the instructions - we used the rear set of mounting holes on the factory rails. Using the front set of holes as recommended by the instructions for cross bars meant that ski racks would be too close together, and the ski bindings would not fit. Other than that, very satisfied!
Everything came promptly, no issues. Everything fit and the videos from eTrailer are a great help!
Purchase for a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, black rails. Perfect fit.
Working great to mount my crossbars and kayak rack.
We are missing a key and parts. The box was open when it was delivered and parts fell out
Excellent product and easy to assemble with video
The product info on your website led me to believe that the vortex strips were included with the bars. They were not. I have always bought Yakima in the past and will in the future.

Hey there, I wanted to let you know that the Vortex strips are included with the bars. They are typically tucked into the top of the bars and are often over looked. It is a good idea to take the end caps off the bars and give the bars a good shake to knock the strips loose. I will have our Customer Service team contact you in case they are missing.
Easy installation, parts seem really we ll-made.
Great kit fit my Hyundai Tucson perfect ly.
I am a new kayker and I needed some guidance and info replaced to a rack...ect. for 2 kayaks. I called and spoke to Andy about 10pm and got what I needed. Purchased what was recommended, it was suppose to arrive Monday the 18th and it came in today Sat the 16th this gave me a chance to get it all installed. I would recommend etrailer to any one.
Super-fast shipping (received in just 2 days!!!); All parts & instructions included.... I took my time, prepped the work area, measured carefully and installed it in about 2 hours -- it was not difficult at all.
This rack looks really slick on my Kona, instantly providing a meaner, more SPORTY look! I love it... money well-spent!
The bars seem good. I did have a problem with only one foot brace coming instead of 4 but they handled it quickly and sent me out a new box. Another problem I had was the rubber inserts for the rails had 4 long ones in the first rail, then 3 long ones and a short one in the second rail. Not the end of the world but odd.
Installed Rhino Rack platform on a Hyundai Kona. This kit made the transition from factory rails. Nice fit!
The install kits arrived promptly; however, the instructions for the RCP kit are a little vague. One improvement I can recommend is a note saying, "don't overtighten the bolts!". That is to say, we snapped one of the OEM roof bolts off when tightening the feet to the roof. I was able to extract the broken bolt from the RR mounting nut, but I am awaiting a replacement bolt for the roof rails. After I pull down the vehicle headliner & replace it, then we can install this product. Thanks!
Bought this kit to use in fabricating a canoe rack for my 2019 Tucson with the pano sunroof. Everything fits pretty well and it installs very easily. The instructions are clear. The fit is a bit less than ideal if installed in the forwardmost rack position, due to some curvature in the Tucson's rails. Also, fit and finish of the hardware is a bit downscale compared to more pricey options - but they don't offer the convenience of being able to custom-build your own rack. Overall very happy with the purchase.
I had to replace the Thule rack on my 2019 Santa Fe to mount a roof top tent. I like the Thule it's a good rack system and it's quiet, but as it turns out the weight capacity was too limiting. I switched to a Rhino rack.
The Rhino rack kit was super easy to install. I was surprised it was much simpler than the Thule. The Rhino rack is rated at 165 lbs, which is an additional 45 lbs of weight capacity. I went with the solid black instead of the aluminum. It looks better on my Santa Fe. The Rhino rack is a little nosier than the Thule, but I should be able to correct it myself by covering the exposed channels.
There's one lesson learned I'd like to pass along. When you see a Roof Rack advertised on any website (including the manufacturer's)pay close attention to the total load capacity. You'll often see the limit for the cross-bars used as the weight capacity. However, if the mounting kit has a lesser load rating that's the total load capacity. For example: the Thule cross-bars were rated at 220 lbs but the mounting kit was rated at 120 lbs. (net 120 lbs capacity) The Rhino cross-bar is rated at 225 lbs and the mounting kit is rated at 165lbs (net capacity 165 lbs).
Either way you go, you can't beat etrailer for customer service before and after the sale.
