Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Yakima replacement rubber strap kit. This is going to replace a lost or damaged mounting strap for your Yakima Timberline Tower. This will work with the two model numbers that you see on the screen there. So if you have either one of those, you can trust that this is going to allow you to mount your tower to your vehicles raised factory side rails, and this is a direct replacement from Yakima. So you don't have to worry about fit issues or compatibility problems or anything like that.

The product gets the 3 stars as it's design is made of rubber, that deteriorates in hot climate arizona. Etrailer gets 5 star for prompt service and delivery.

I bought the timberline towers from the rei garage for 45% off. I knew there was a chance something could be broken. Turns out one tower had a faulty piece. It was the small black piece in this replacement pack! I paid for 3 day shipping. It came on time and the new small black piece was threaded correctly! Ended up saving $100 by fixing a perfectly good set! That’s a win!

Exactly as described. This has been out of stock from every retail dealer if Yakama products to include Yakama directly for well over 3-months. I just went ahead and ordered it hoping it would ship whenever they got one in stock. So it did, no trouble, happy camper. Just had to be patient. :)

Yes, the Replacement Door Assembly # 8880631 is exactly what you need for the Yakima TimberLine Tower. To get the correct replacement lock and key you simply need to match what the current locks are. You can find the number on the side of the old lock core and on the key that is currently being used. Size of Bolt Included With Replacement Rubber Strap Kit for Yakima TimberLine Towers
Hi Keith; the bolt that comes with the # 8880820 is an M5 bolt that is 105mm long. We have an older answer saying the thread pitch is 1.60 but I was unable to verify that with Yakima. They will not give out that information in an effort to avoid any liability if you decide to use parts outside of their kit.

Yakima doesn't offer the bolt included in the # 8880820 Replacement Rubber Strap individually, only as part of the kit. The threaded portion of the bolt measures 5mm in diameter by 105mm long with a 1.6 thread pitch.

What Does Long Bolt of Yakima Timberline Strap Thread Into
The long screw of the Timberline strap needs to thread into a barrel nut that's at the bottom of the strap. So you'll need to see if you can rotate the barrel nut or just move strap to the point the threads of the barrel nut line up with the the screw.

How To Re-Install The Replacement Rubber Strap Kit For The Yakima TimberLine Towers
To install the Replacement Rubber Strap Kit for Yakima TimberLine Towers # 8880820, on your TimberLine Towers, you will need to slide the barrel nut into the metal end of the strap, and bring the strap to the front of the tower. From here, you will just need to rethread the Allen bolt you originally pulled out, and you'll be good to go.

Removing and Installing New Replacement Rubber Strap Kit for Yakima TimberLine Towers
Basically you are going to need to remove the long Allen bolt I pointed out in the attached picture which will allow the strap to release. From there you'll just need to slide the barrel nut out of the metal end of the strap so that you can pull it out. Since written instructions for this aren't available this is easiest way to describe it. Once you remove the bolt though the rest of the removal process will become evident and you'd just need to reverse the process to install the new # 8880820.

Hi Warren! If you're referring to the long screw/bolt it is available with the Replacement Rubber Strap Kit for Yakima TimberLine Towers # 8880820. If it is the pitch adjustment bolt you need the Replacement Pitch Adjustment Bolts for Yakima TimberLine Towers # 8880615.
