Features to know about

Crank-Out Awning Glass Operation

Van Windows Direct Cranked Out

This awning window replaces the fixed glass in the driver-side rear quarter panel of your Sprinter. Instead of a sealed piece of glass, the T-handle pushes the bottom edge outward while the top stays hinged, turning that section into an adjustable vent. When you're parked for the night, carrying gear, or have a dog riding in the back, that opening lets air move through the rear of the Sprinter instead of leaving that corner closed off.

Removable Interior Mesh Screen

Van Windows Direct Mesh Screen

The mesh screen mounts on the inside of the frame and stays in place while the window is open. When you're parked with the glass tilted out, it keeps bugs from coming through that rear opening so you can leave it open at night or at camp without inviting everything inside.

17% Gray Solar Privacy Tint

Van Windows Direct Tinted Window

The rear quarter window sits where people can see straight into the back of the van. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while you still have visibility out. It also reduces the amount of direct light coming through that glass so the rear of the van isn't fully exposed every time you park.

OE-Style Sprinter Rear Quarter Side Panel Glass

Van Windows Direct Above Bunk

Cutting the rear quarter panel isn't something you undo. The glass has to match the factory curve so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows that original stamping, so when it's set in place, the contour matches the panel you just opened up.

Urethane-Bonded Rear Quarter Installation

Van Windows Direct Can of Urethane

After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds the window to the body and becomes the seal that keeps water from getting into the wall cavity. This window depends on that bond for both attachment and weather sealing, so the rear of the van stays ventilated, protected from water, and usable instead of closed off and stuffy.

Video Transcript for Review of Van Windows Direct Van Windows - Awning Window - VW57VR

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're looking at a Van Windows Direct Crank Out Awning. It's a van window for the rear quarter driver's side. Now folks, when it's installed, it's gonna look something like this and it looks like it fits a lot of different Dodge Sprinters, Freight Liner Sprinters, and Mercedes Benz Sprinters with 170 inch wheel base. So make sure you're putting in your year, make and model into the fig out at etrailer.com.

Be sure you're getting the right parts the first time. You can always reach out to us if you have any questions or you wanna make sure as well. Now starting off, I do want to give some quick dimensions. The outer measurement all the way across on the length is 50-13/16" long by 30-1/4" tall. And the awning opening is, we're calling it here.

That's the part that's gonna pop up and out at an angle, that's 33-13/16" long by 16-5/8" tall. Now this does feature a built-in screen mesh as well, and the glass panel tilts outward using a T handle crank. I do wanna go ahead and crank it kind of from the side here. You can kind of see how much it's cranking and how much it opens. Plug in with the inside, it's a T crank.

There you go, plug in, it's just gonna be enough to vent and let that cool breeze in or out, but yet also keep water and stuff out. And on the inside here, you have a built-in mesh. Here's that T handle. You simply crank it left to right to open or close. You do have these little form spring clips here as well.

It's gonna be hard for me to do with one hand, so I'm gonna leave it in probably. But you pull up on these two tabs and this whole screen can actually come out. So if you don't want the screen in there, maybe you want to clean the screen or something, no problem. You can remove that screen. But keeping in there is gonna be best to keep insects and those kind of things out. So just pointing that out. Turning it back to the front. As you can see, you've got a nice 17% gray solar tint. It's gonna reduce glare. It's also gonna help maintain visibility. And it's gonna cut out about 83% of UV rays that are coming down from the sun. And as you can see, if I tilt this, you can see the light reflection in the studio, but it's not really a bright glare. It's more of just a reflection. I do like that feature. Now, again folks, whenever you get this, you're gonna wanna install it. You're gonna need, after you cut the opening, a continuous bead of this automotive grade urethane. And this is sold separately, item number VW84ZR. And I'll put that on the screen. And this is going to bond to the frame of the body panel and form that weather tight seal. And also help hold it in place whenever you're installing this. So make sure you pick that up if you don't already have some. And that being said, if you don't wanna tackle this, kind of install yourself, no problem. We are affiliated with lots of different installation places around the country. And to find the ones in your area, we just simply need your zip code. Under the photos on the product page, there should be a link that talks about installation and you just simply click that. And then based on your zip code, we can help find someone local to your area that can get that done for you. Again, folks, if you're looking for an upgrade for those vans, this is a great option for you. This is the Van Direct Van Windows Direct Crank Out Awning for the rear quarter driver's side. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
