Hello neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our replacement key for the Thule racks and carriers, specifically number 2982. So folks, we get asked a lot, "How do I know which key number I need" Well, if you look at a picture of this image here in front of me, engraved on the front outside area of your key lock core, that's where you're gonna find that number. So you wanna match up that number with the corresponding key number. Now zooming into this key from above, you can see it is engraved right there into the brass colored metal there, the 2982, you're gonna get quantity one, one key. This is direct replacement from Thule so you can be sure it works with the lock core number 2982.

Works perfectly. And, very quick turnaround. First tried [online], keys did not work. Went to a local locksmith, they could not help. But, etrailer came thru!!!!

Key fit, although tightly, into lock and finally opened up our luggage carrier. Paid for 2 day shipping due to impending travel and it got there as advertised.
They key was new so it needed some oil to get it in the lock, but after a couple of uses it works great. Good solid build. Great support from customer service team. Thanks

We were traveling, out-of-state, and lost the keys to our Karrite car-top carrier. We freaked out - no way to secure our belongings! After Googling for the situation, we discovered that we could order replacement keys via E-Trailer. I contacted them via phone & explained our situation. The representative was VERY helpful in assisting us in determining which key we required. Order was placed on Tuesday night; keys were received on Thursday! THANK YOU! You helped us "dodge-a bullet"!
Service on this order was good as always with e-trailer,but the keys were poorly cut,they work but are of poor quality and have to be moved around in the lock multiple time to get the cylinder to turn.

Needed a key to replace a lost one for my roof top carrier purchased from Sears several years ago. Sears was not much help. Sent the number on the lock to etrailer and received two keys in about a week. They opened the locks first try. Wouldn't hesitate to do business again with etrailer should the need arise.
My father in law gave us his sportrack explorer with the locks but no keys. Called locksmith, they asked $150+ for the keys. Tried to find it on Amazon or local home depot, they didn't have it. Got lucky when I found this website. Ordered the key got it today. Tried it - it works. I'm happy. Going camping on the weekend:)
It was very easy and inexpensive to order the key for a thule roof carrier, and it was delivered regular mail in less then a week happy with the service.
The replacement keys for my Sears Cargo-X carrier were received quickly and work.

We found the Karrite carrier at a resale store without a key. Found you guys online for the replacement key and your ordering process was pretty simple. Having received the key, it works perfectly.

working just as well a year later.
Was skeptical I could order a key for a cargo roof top car carrier and that it would actually work. I emailed etrailer with the #on the lock and they affirmed they had the key. I ordered two and to my surprise, they work beautifully. Service was prompt and professional.
The key was backordered and etrailer did not have it right away. That’s ok, I understand. What made me really happy was a few days after the order, they emailed me and told me what was going on. They stated they will try to get the key, but if they could not they would let me know. That was really respectful. All I want is to know what’s going on, and they were honest and kept me in the loop. About a week later, I got an email that the key was sent and the key was delivered without issue. They key correctly fits our old Sears XCargo car top carrier. Thanks!

Key still works great after a year.

This key was recommended to me for a SportRack box someone had given me with no key. Even thought there is no "N" in front of the number on the lock, this key works perfectly! Thanks.
