Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the replacement wheel tray endcap for Thule bike racks. Now this unit replaces one lost or damaged wheel tray endcap for the Thule Echelon, Sidearm, Peloton and Big Mouth roof-mounted bike racks. It's a direct replacement. It's an easy installation. It just snaps into place and it prevents the wheel strap from sliding off of the wheel tray. The product is made from a durable plastic construction.

Again, it's designed for the Thule Echelon, TH518, the Sidearm, TH594, TH594XT, the Peloton, TH517 and the Big Mouth, TH599XTR. So it will fit those roof-mounted bike racks and it is a direct replacement for those units. That's going to do it for today's look at replacement wheel tray endcap for Thule bike racks.

Accidents happen, if you roll a bike back too far in the carrier tray, it can loosen the rear end cap, and then it dislodges on the road and you need a new one.

This cap is easy to install, and it's a perfect fit for some OEM accessory carriers, like the "Subaru Thule Bike Carrier Roof Mounted" Part Number:

Part was exactly what I needed and delivered quickly.
After reading some other reviews, I added a glob of silicone adhesive caulk to the inside clip area to reduce the chances of these falling off again.
I've ordered a few things from Etrailer, and will do so in the future. Always great prices on hard-to-find parts, quick delivery, and great service.

This is the third time I needed a small component for of my Thule Rack system. These components are hard to find, as they don't wear out and are not your typical spare part. I believe somebody "borrowed" it off my parked van. Again, etrailer.com had the part I needed at a reasonable price, and delivery was quick. Definitely my go to store.

These endcaps dress up the wheel tray very nicely. They have a tendency to fall off especially in very cold weather. So it is nice to have a couple of them around as replacement parts. Without the caps, the trays look a little "unfinished".

Replacement End Cap for Thule Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Rack
The Thule Big Mouth, manufactured from 1999-2017 uses # 753-3236 as the end cap, which includes the plate that has the Thule name on it. That's the part number you'd want to use, according to Thule. The # 853-5424 will also work, but it does't include the insert that says Thule on it.

Replacement Wheel Tray End Cap for the Original Thule Big Mouth Bike Rack
The Thule Big Mount went through a change at one point that included the end caps. The end cap it was changed to was # 753-3236. Prior to that it looked more like # 853-7629 that you have referenced but it is not the same end cap. Your bike rack wheel try where the end cap goes has slots for tabs for the correct end cap. According to Thule you need # 853-5424 as a replacement.

Which Thule Replacement End Caps For Thule Big Mouth Bike Rack
It's very likely the latter, but it depends on the specific Thule Big Mouth rack you have, as there were two of them, the original Big Mouth Upright 599XT and the Big Mouth 599XTR. It is likely the 599XTR, as they were around far longer. The original 599XT was only out from 1999 through 2003, while the 599XTR was available from 2004 to the beginning of 2017.
