Hi, everyone. Steve here with E-Trailer. Today we're taking a look at the MEC RV propane trunk line hose. So folks, your RV, your camper's propane trunk line is what carries propane through the RV downstream components. So whether you're replacing a damaged section, maybe you just need some additional length when routing your propane system, maybe you got something new and the old hose just isn't quite long enough. This can give you some much needed additional length when routing that.

So this is a 40-inch flexible connection that you can work with. And with a propane hose like this, one of the most important things is to check what connections you have, excuse me, on the end. So right here, you've got a 3/8th inch female MPT and this can swivel. So you're tightening this part and not twisting the hose. And on this end, you have the 3/8th inch male flare fitting.

So it's kind of hard to tell in there, but it's flared out, which means it's not perfectly flat. And this is made to give you the correct connections to what you have. So meaning you need to make sure you have these two connections if you're replacing this with something in your system, otherwise it's not going to fit. Now again, that swivel is especially helpful during installation because now you're tightening that connection without turning the hose itself. So it's going to be a lot easier.

And with these kind of connections, the flare fittings, they seal at the main flare so you don't have to put pipe sealant on your flare connections. Now, that being said, I do recommend always with anything propane, you do pick up some Leak Detective, sold separately. It's usually pink in color, kind of looks like a soapy solution. And what it does is, you'll put that on all your connections and you want to make sure you're not seeing bubbles and stuff whenever you get those connections done to be sure that everything's nice and safe. Now the hose itself, I do like it.

It's a thermal plastic. It has fully crimped brass ferrules here on the end. So it's very high quality made. And this is UL and CGA approved for propane services. And so it's a very nice design. The other thing I like, before I let you go here, is you probably can't see it here on the camera too much, but they have molded in the line, about every foot, it looks like, the part number. So that's another nice thing. If you need to replace this one in the future and you don't remember, or this tag for whatever reason wears off over time, you now have that part number always molded inside of the hose. So I do like that, a little attention to detail kind of upgrade from the old hoses that are out there.
