Hi everyone, Aiden here with Etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this pintle hook mount from CURT. This is gonna be for two-inch hitches, so it'll slide into the two-inch hitch on your vehicle, and give you a mounting plate for a pintle hook. This being just the mounting plate, you'll need to pick up a pintle hook separately. And when you do, just keep in mind that the mount itself here is rated for 10,000 pounds, so, probably a good idea to pick up a pintle hook that is appropriately weighted for that. Once you pick out a pintle hook, this will mount up to the plate.
And this particular one has three different height adjustments. So the four mounting holes on the hook will mount up with four of the holes in the plate. The mounting holes on the platform are spaced three and three eighths of an inch apart horizontally, and one and three quarter of an inch apart vertically. So as you're picking which height adjustment's going to be the right for you and bolting it in, that's the increments you're working in. Now one measurement that's important to know and kind of unique with this one, is from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer face of the mounting plate.
And that's gonna be eight and one quarter of an inch, so, it sticks out quite a bit more than another version of this that's very similar in drop height, but it's got a bit of a shorter shank. There's a couple of things that could be really useful for. I'll get this slid out so you can see. it's gonna be just a little bit longer. So if you have something like a spare tire mounted on the back of your vehicle, or any other obstructions, this will help give you a bit more clearance from that.
If you're using this in something like a 2.5-inch hitch with a reducer sleeve in there, generally those larger hitch sizes mean that the hitch pin hole is gonna be further back. And you can slide something like this in there, and not be so worried about hitting the nearest obstruction like this reinforcement gusset right here. So again, if you already had a 2.5-inch hitch with a reducer sleeve, and you just wanted to get the smaller pintle mount because you don't need a heavier weight capacity, that could work for you. But then also, when it's in the hitch, you're gonna have more room left over, so if you wanted to add something like an anti-rattle device, you're probably not gonna have any issues doing that because there's tons of room left to actually add an accessory like that, which will reduce all the shake and play you'll hear going down the road. One thing that isn't included, though, is a hitch pin.
You will need to pick up one of those separately. You can find those on our site, and I would strongly recommend picking up a locking hitch pin, just to add to the security of the pintle mount. The Etrailer locking hitch pin is a really solid one, and you can get whatever size you need, you are using this in a larger hitch with a reducer sleeve, you can get one with a longer span, or just get the standard five eighths-inch diameter with the two-inch hitch span. Use this with a curt 16k combination ball/pintle hitch and am very satisfied so far. No drama purchase via Etrailer, and when the torque spec for the hitch — inexplicably — wasn’t included in the literature a call to their friendly team fixed this issue.
This is one solid built mounting plate! Solid shank is very beefy and fits like a glove in my ram 3500 receiver hitch. No slop at all like I've found in other hitches. Welds are immaculate. Powder coat finish is very thick and looks like it will hold up to the eliminates for a long time. Plate also has a recess on the shank for ease of gripping and lifting into position.Nice feature as the plate is heavy to lift since it has a solid shank of 2.5" steel! There is also a gusset plate welded to the base of the shank for added support that I noticed a lot of other plates don't have. Highly recommend if you want the piece of mind that your hitch is going to be able to take heavy loads.

A few days after the arrival of this pintle plate a Fed Ex carrier delivered the Black Armor 1/2 truck mat for my 2024 RAM 3500. Cutting the rear corners to fit the rear of the bed was a simple procedure by first scoring the thick 12 inch rubber with a utility razor knife first with a steel right angle ruler and then cutting it with a hack saw blade rather than using my Makita Sawzall or Jig Saw for safety. Awesome. awesome bed mat protection.

I use Curt Pintle Hitch plates with either 6061 aluminum 2x3x5 foot bars or 2x1 channel steel bars with attached 3 inch diameter ABS drain pipe mounted on etrailer front hitches and rear factory truck hitches to protect the truck, SUV, or van front and rear bumpers and body from bad drivers. Mounted to the frame the front of rear hitch impact bars are much stronger than aftermarket bull bars or front protective bars that will crush into the front grill and bumper or rear of a vehicle
mounting plante has worked perfectly. it is the only one that i could find that was rated for the weight when mounted upright or down when using a 2" reciever. shows no signs of fatigue after a year of towing a 3500lb trailer with a 13,000lb escavator several times a week. very satisfied with purchase
Robust! This pintle mount plate is a monster! Fitment to my 2013 Toyota 4Runner 2” hitch is great, and precisely the size I was looking for, given rear hatch access,(The rear hatch swings free and clear) and pintle hook rise requirements. I easily went from 17” to 26” off the pavement! Photos will show the additional reflective tape I applied to necessitate a safe night’s drive. Photos show the really nice locking pin that secures the mount plate. Special kudos to Jessie at etrailer customer service to expertly assist me in the selection discussion- what a joy! Delivery was ahead of schedule and the product met my specifications! Now let’s get on the road and see how she runs!
The truck hitch was setting at 27" could not find anything local so off to the web E Trailer was the first place that I went to, to see if they had a drop hitch that would work with the pintel hook that would drop the pintel hook down to 20". sure, enough they had two of the in stock, I ordered them had them ship them to me overnight, received them like promised, customer is happy, Boss is happy.
