Today we're taking a look at the Curt Pintle Hook for 2 inch hitches. Now, this pintle hook lets you hook up your trailer to your towed vehicle. It sides into the receiver tube of your hitch and provides the attachment point for the lunette ring coupler. It's made from a strong forged steel construction, has a nice corrosion-resistant, high-gloss black patent coat finish. Solid strength design. I do want to point out that it has this tethered safety pin, so in order to open up the unit, you gotta take this clip, take it off, remove the pin, it's tethered on there so you don't misplace that or lose that.
Take this T-handle, flip it up, that's how you're gonna roll back the top portion. This is gonna allow you to connect to your lunette ring. And then to secure it, you bring this back down, take the pin, place it through, secure it with the clip on the other side, that's all there is to it.Now you will need a hitch pinning clip or a hitch lock to secure this inside the receiver tube of your hitch. Those items are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. This unit will accept the standard 5/8 inch diameter pin.
Again, it is designed for a 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receiver, it'll fit a lunette ring coupler with a minimum inner diameter of 2.5 inches. Gross towing weight capacity for this unit is 10 000 pounds. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick. I did take a measurement of the overall length, so I measured edge to edge. Very front to very back, we get a measurement of about 14.5 inches.
And then from the center of the pintle hook area to the center of the hitch pinhole, that gives us a measurement of around 9.5 inches. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Curt Pintle Hook, for 2 inch hitches.
