Hey Alan, that's not a super common issue, but I looked it up and see what you're talking about; the oem crossbars are wide and flat but if they're at an angle, they won't work well for a tent.
Since you have the roof rails still, you can unbolt the oem crossbars and put new crossbars on those factory roof rails running parallel with the vehicle. You'll have a tough time finding a tent under 100lbs to comply with the vehicle's roof rail rating, however, I found a few options that will... view full answer...
