The Yakima OutPost HD Ladder Rack is made for heavy hauling whether you’re headed to a job site or out for a weekend trip. It supports up to 500 lbs on-road and 300 lbs off-road, so it’s built to carry ladders, lumber, bikes, or camping gear with confidence. The fixed mid-height position of 13" above the tracks keeps your load stable and easy to reach while keeping the center of gravity low.
This rack mounts to 72" tracks that secure directly to flat surfaces like truck bed rails, camper shells, or gear trailers. The tracks require drilling for installation, but once mounted, they provide a solid, fixed base for the uprights. BedGrip clamps fit most common bed rails, locking the rack firmly in place. Etched measurement marks on the uprights and crossbars help you center everything quickly and accurately.
Both the uprights and the 78" crossbars have T-slots inside and out, so you can add tie-downs, eye bolts, paddle holders, or off-road lights exactly where you need them. The channels fit most Yakima clamp-on and channel-mount accessories—from bike racks and kayak carriers to rooftop tents and cargo boxes. Rubberized strips in the top channels help cut down wind noise and drag while keeping gear stable.
The OutPost HD is made from sturdy aluminum with a black powder-coat finish that’s durable and rustproof. It’s designed and tested for both on- and off-road use, so it stands up to harsh weather, dirt roads, and long-term wear. Built-in tie-down points on the uprights and endcaps make it simple to secure your gear, and the signature integrated bottle openers add a nice touch at the end of the day.
When you need to remove the rack, the QuickChange system lets you take it off in minutes. The uprights lock to the tracks using Yakima’s Same Key System (SKS) lock cores for security, and you can match them to other Yakima gear so one key fits it all. This setup gives you the flexibility to run the rack full-time or remove it when you need the bed clear for taller cargo.

Still loving the Yakima Outpost Bed Rack. The main thing I love about it, I don’t have to worry about it. I use it a a rack for my RTT with no issues. Install and walk away.
