Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Worked great. Easy install.

by:

Hitch installed on my Mercury Montego.

by:

Fine, once it's installedDue to what I assume was spring-back in the weldment, this Hidden Hitch was a bit of a headache to install. After much tugging and (I'm ashamed to admit) a little help from my wife, I got the holes to line up -- barely. Would have been a good deal easier with 2 people. Carries my bike rack just fine now that it's in place.

by:

Great product, low price and fast delivery.

by:

Shipping was fast & was easy to put on. I will be using it friday. Thank You. TIM

by:

Easy to install, definitely takes two people but the video covers that nicely.

by:

Hitch arrived in just a couple of days. Install took about 2 hours and it works great!

by:

The hitch and wireing were easy to install and work great. The videos on the website were the biggest help for the install

by:

Great product easy to install but instructions were a little confusing.

by:
2008 Ford Taurus

Installed great and was very easy! It is flush with bumper on 2008 Taurus X

by:
2005 Ford Freestyle

Quick service...easy install...great experience ....Order arrived sooner than expxected

by:

Had a problem with the bolt thru-the-hole thing, but Etrailer's video was a big, big help. Fit of Hitch was very good. Had to touch up powdercoat with paint in a few spots. Instructions were hard to read until I found PDF and blew it up on my computer screen. Watching the movie and blowing up the PDF made all of the difference !

by:

The operator we got when we called was very helpful and curtious. The product was just what we needed and wanted and arrived so promptly in excellent condition.

by:
2008 Ford Taurus X

This was truly the best transaction I ever made. The hitch was to exacting dimensions, with NO alterations made to fit. The order was complete. Delivery was very fast.
This place is A+++ in my book!
Will order again when needed, and recommend to others...
Thanks.

2006 Ford Freestyle

So far a great product, I installed in about an hour. The instructions are ok not the greatest not the worst. The video on here made it easy as pie to do. Love the fitment of the hitch, no issues at all like you get alot of times with things welded together. It worked great.

by:

This is my second vehicle I have bought a Hitch for and it's just like the first one "GREAT" and was easy to install will be making future purchases.

by:

Overall a great productIt took awhile to install. Fishing both the bolts and the plates through the frame was harder that I thought. I used a file to enlarge the access hole in the frame. Once that was done the rest was just as described. Needed two people though, to line up frame with holes.

by:
2008 Ford Taurus X

Watching the video a couple time before starting really helped. Even without a hoist, it only took me a little over an hour to install the hitch by myself. That includes coffee breaks.

by:

Watched the video on your site and install was simple.

Thanks for offering great products etrailer.

by:

Very pleased! Used the instructional video and went on in a jiffy! Very well done etrailer!

2008 Ford Taurus X

Instructions were pretty good, but first timers should sit down with them for a while to avoid mistakes. Otherwise, the quality is great and everything lined up nicely during the install.

by:

Product was delivered promptly, fit nicely and installation was not difficult. Instructions, while brief, we're excellent.

by:
2008 Ford Taurus

This was kind of cool. It went on exactly as the video showed. No surprises. Fit was great, took about an hour and looks great. This hitch does not stick out and give you something to smack your shins on. It blends nicely with the look of the Taurus.

by:

Great product at a fantastic price. Delivered within one day!
Easy to install, even without the video. Just follow the instructions included.
Thanks Etrailer!

  • Replacement Hardware for a 2007 Ford Freestyle
Yes, we do! You will need the Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches item # RHK. This will have all of the hardware you need to install either the Curt Hitch item # 13542 or the Draw-Tite item # 75299. These are the two hitches we know fit the 2007 Ford Freestyle. If you have a different one you'll need to find the model number. You will want to go to the item # RHK product page and on the right hand side where it says Hitch Item Number you'll want to insert either 13542 or 75299....

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Ford Taurus X for Towing a Pop Up Camper
If you plan to do some towing with your 2008 Ford Taurus X I would recommend going with a Class III hitch like the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75299, which has been confirmed to fit your vehicle. Class III hitches have more capacity than Class II hitches and have more options for future hitch accessories like bike racks or cargo carrier. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit...

  • Why Only a 1000 lb Towing Capacity Limit on a 2005 Ford Five Hundred?
The 1000 pound towing weight limit for your 2005 Ford 500, and the 2000 pound rating for your 1996 Thunderbird I was able to confirm online. Vehicle tow ratings are determined by the manufacturer, in part based on horsepower, but may also be a function of the extent to which there is access to the frame rails for mounting a hitch. If a particular vehicle design limits access to the strongest frame members, then the tow rating will be lower than it otherwise might be. However, there is...

  • Overall Towing Capacity of a 2008 Ford Taurus X
When determining the overall towing capacity of a vehicle you should always go with the lowest rated component. If the owners manual in your 2008 Ford Taurus X says 2,000 lbs is the limit for your vehicle then that is the most amount of weight you can tow with your vehicle. This Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75299 that you referenced has been tested to handle 3,500 lbs, but that does not mean your vehicle will be able to tow more than the figure listed in your owners manual...

  • Towing Capacity of Class III Trailer Hitch When Installed on 2007 Ford Freestyle
Having a hitch with a higher capacity than the vehicle itself is a common occurrence. From my online research, I found that the Ford Freestyle does indeed have a 2000 lb towing capacity. As you correctly stated, the Class III hitches available for the vehicle have a 3500 lb towing capacity. Because the overall capacity of the towing system will be limited to the capacity of its lowest rated component, you'd be limited to the 2000 lb capacity of the vehicle. Even if a hitch has a higher...

  • Towing Capacity and Parts Needed to Tow with a 2009 Ford Taurus X
I looked up the online version of the owner's manual for your 2009 Ford Taurus X and on page 248 it states that your vehicle is rated to tow a trailer weighing up to 2,000 lbs with a max tongue weight of 200 lbs. Even if you install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75299 which has a trailer rating of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs you will be limited by the least rated component which is your Taurus. If you have a small trailer to tow then you also need the recommended...

  • Differences Between Class III Receivers Available for 2008 Ford Taurus X
Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite are both sister companies, therefore both the Draw-Tite Class III Receiver, part # 75299 and the Hidden Hitch Class III Receiver, part # 87108 are going to be almost identical. The installation procedure and towing and tongue weight capacities are the same. Hidden Hitch is actually a brand name, and does not necessarily describe how visible the receiver hitch will be once it is installed. The way the hitch sits on the vehicle in relation to the rear bumper can...

Just go to this product page and enter the part 12292 before placing your order. • How to Pick Out the Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for a 2005 Ford Freestyle
I do not have the exact figure for how many inches of rise or drop you would need to order a drawbar with. But I can help you figure this out. The hitch opening for the Draw-Tite hitch # 75299 will basically sit right under the bumper of your 2005 Ford Freestyle once installed. So if you measure from the ground to bottom of the bumper you will have basically the distance rise/drop you would have if you had a ball mount with no rise or drop. So if the distance happens to be 16 inches from...

I would recommend that you get a Class 3 hitch with a 2 inch receiver for your vehicle. The Class 3 hitch will provide the most versatility and options for towing and hauling. You will have a wider selection of all accessories, bike racks included, with the 2 inch receiver hitch. It will also give you the best options if your towing or hauling needs should change in the future. Your 2008 Ford Taurus X has a gross trailer weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. As long as the combined weight of the trailer and the horse is less than that then you could tow the horse and trailer. Going with a single horse trailer made of aluminum will keep the weight down. So it is possible depending on the horse. The best option for a hitch is the Draw-Tite Class 3 Hitch # 75299. For a ball mount use # 36071. The most bikes a trunk-mount carrier that we offer can carry is 3, however if you are able to still fit one bike inside the vehicle, this may be your best option. You should check your vehicle owner manual and make sure that the gross trailer weight and the tongue weight of the boat, loaded and ready to tow, are within the vehicle limits.
