Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

This would of been an excellent rating but the mount I recieved had one problem.. the L-shaped bracket that bolts to the bottom of the drivers side frame was welded on crooked, so the hole did not line up with the hole in the frame. But luckily for me, I have access to a well stocked garage and was able to work around that. If I hadn't I would of had to return this for a replacement. This wasn't any fault of E-trailers it was in the manufacture of the mount from Hidden hitch and just something that must of slipped through their QC department. Aside from that one defect the mount appears to be very sturdy and well made..

Overall I am pleased with my purchased. E-Trailers was very fast with shipping.

GOOD JOB

2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Very good product. I have not hauled anything with it yet, but it bolted up nice and seems very sturdy. Only downfall is that you really do need another person to help you put it on. It's nearly impossible to hold it up and put the bolts through it. Still a great product and easy to mount with some help.

by:

Fast Shipping, Great product just as described and pictured. Thanks etrailer.

by:

The hitch that I ordered was delivered within 3 days and very well made. installation was completed within 1/2 hour as stated on your web page. Thanks again for a well made product with a good price.

by:

This is a nice hitch came to my house real fast on the shipping . Also came with all the proper hardware and was real easy to instoll . I would purchase probucts from this sight again

by:

Excellent product and service received my order earlier then expected great quality and packing of merchandise. Easy to install with great instructions and quality fasteners. I will be doing more shopping with e trailer. Great Job!!!!!!!

by:

Great productThe trailer hitch was as described. Great quality, and instulation was easy. It took me about 45 minutes to install, because it was hard to hold up, line up and bolt in all at one time. After I use a floor jack, all went smooth. I recomend putting the top bolts in first, to make it easier to hold up and line up the bolt holes. A perfect fit and easy to install. Great quality and worth the money.

by:

This was not my first Hidden hitch, nor will it be my last. The hitch is very well engineered and manufactured. The packaging ensured that my hitch arrived to my door undamaged with all hardware secure. I installed the hitch myself in about 20 minutes in my garage and it aligned perfectly. The shipping was fast! Another satisfied customer, thank you etrailer!

by:

I received the Trailer Hitch very quickly...after order it I received before I knew it. I went to install it the hitch it went with little effort. The hardest part of my installation was raising the well built hitch off the ground. After moving the hitch into place it took a large screw driver slide it in to place. Four bolts and some tools and I was finished. I was surprised this project went so well. I would recommend this hitch to my friends and family.

1994 Ford Explorer

Ordered Saturday for my 1994 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It was at my front door on Wednesday! I took it out of the box, and with my wife's help, had it installed in about 30 minutes using a crescent wrench, socket wrench & torque wrench. Perfect fit, couldn't be happier!

2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Wanted to better trailer experience than the "ball on the bumper" was providing, but didn't want to spend a ton on a 20 year old truck (2004 Ford Explorer SportTrac). Ordered this hitch for about $[XX]. 65 years old with modest handyman skills, was able to install it by myself. Had to prop the hitch on some board and block risers to get it close enough. The first bolt was tough to get lined up by myself, but when I finally got it in, the rest were much easier. Finally got it in right by inserting the bolt through the opposite side (where it usually comes out), then using the other similar bolt to go the correct way and push it out. Having 2 ratchets with correct size sockets (large) really helped. Hitch is tight and substantial. Took me about 75 minutes total from opening the box to putting tools away.

2002 Nissan Leaf

For clearance the rear wheels have to be raised off thr ground. This allows the leaf springs to relax and the shackles to pivot forward. Note: cannot be jacked up by the axle or differential as the springs will still be under tension.
Also the spacers provided may have to be “trimmed” due to the frame weld being overlapped and not butted. This leaves a ridge and prevents the spacer/s from lining up with the hole in the frame. ( the holes in the spacers must be in line with the holes in the frame).

by:
2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The product arrived on time. The installation instructions say you need a 13/16, a 7/8 and a 15/16 wrench. It was actually a 3/4 for the nut on the carriage bolt, the 7/8 was not needed. I actually used a 1/2in drive 3/4 and 13/16 in socket along with the 15/16 wrench. The install time was about an hour. This was a 2005 SportTrac.
A few notes on the install process:
1. Perhaps removing the spare tire would give a little more room to allow for easier access.
2. On the passenger side the 3/8 spacer block has a bevel (both do), the bevel should be positioned towards the frame and towards the rear of the vehicle, this allows for the bolt to slide in the slot and align properly with the hole in the hitch.
3. Unplug the wiring harness at the rear of the vehicle on the driver side, this gets them out of the way so you can maneuver the hitch freely.

Thanks,
Fred

The overall experience with this hitch purchase was ok, but not perfect. I got ready to install this hitch with my dad, and came up one nut short. We had to go to a hardware store to get a nut to finish the installation.

by:
2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The included hardware left a lot to be desired. One of the 9/16=12 nuts had rolled over threads in it, the other was some oversized metric nut. I had to use a thread chaser on both bolts in order for the 9/16-12 nuts that I purchased would fit properly. Love the receiver, very good quality and in great condition,

by:

Hitch was good quality, spacers to go between hitch and frame were not thick enough to tighten hitch properly. Added a few thick washers and everything is tight and ready for towing.

by:

Well I sold the truck about a month after I put it on so I never used it BUT the installation went smooth

I bought a boat too big for the bumper hitch on my ford sport trac. The hitch bolted right onto the frame my son even helped me with it. I now can tow my boat with ease and confidence. No need to buy a new truck cause I just saved a boatload of cash by getting a new hitch rather than a new truck

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Product was as described, everything lined up perfectly and it seems very well made and very strong. Delivery was fast, also. So far I'm very happy with my new hitch and the service from etrailer.

by:

Through no fault of Etrailer arrived late. Had scratches from poor handling (UPS). Installed myself in about 30 minutes. Worked perfectly and looks great. See photo of install on my 2003 Sport Trac. Thanks for the video it helped a lot.

by:

Fast delivery, easy to install, fits like a glove!

by:
2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I put it on today by myself, would have been faster with two people. Every thing lined up nice. And looks great, very heavy duty. I put it on a scale. It weighed 43 lb. It's a little close to the rubber on bumper, but no big deal.

by:

The package arrived a day early. It was very simple to install and instructions are easy to follow. The video provided was very helpful as well. Highly recommended. I will be using it to tow a small pop up trailer.

by:
2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

They had the hitch in stock even for my older vehicle. Fit as promised. Installation video was also helpful. Thank you.

We have everything you need to flat tow your 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac behind your Winnebago Adventurer, but before attempting to tow I strongly recommend checking your owners manual before proceeding. From what I could find, the 4WD models with the electronic shift transfer case and automatic transmission cannot be flat towed. Ford also has distance and speed restrictions when flat towing this vehicle. To flat tow your 2001 Ford Sport Trac Automatic behind your Winnebago Adventurer...

Hey Tina, for your 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac you can use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75112. This hitch has a max weight capacity of 6,000 lbs, a 600 lb tongue weight capacity, and is custom fit so it'll bolt right up. If the connector you found looks like the picture I've attached, then you have a 4-way trailer connector. If you're still unsure, send me a picture of the connector you've found so I can see it. To find out if it functions properly, you'll need to use a circuit tester, part # PTW2992, and test each function; stop lights, turn signals, and running lights. I've linked a video on how to test with the # PTW2993. To the best of my knowledge Sport Tracs did not all come with trailer wiring...

  • Can Small Boat Trailer Be Towed By 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Using Bumper Mounted Trailer Ball
That's a great question. Your Explorer Sport Trac is equipped with a towing bumper, with a 3500 lb capacity. If the rear bumper height is such that it's pretty close to the height of your trailer's coupler when it's jacked up and level, then by all means get you a trailer ball with the proper diameter shank to fit the hole in the bumper (likely 1 inch) and ball size (likely 1-7/8) and tow that boat and trailer. If the hole diameter is 1 inch, you can use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or...

I was able to check your order and you did get the Draw-Tite # 75112 but sometimes hitches can get slightly bent during shipping.
