Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Still partys hard. No issues.

I highly recommend this product if installing a hitch. It lessens the chance of overloading your vehicles electrical system and for LED lights on trailer. I did however get wire look to run hot wire to front of vehicle to the battery. Also get a small tube dielectric grease for all connections. Heat shrink tube or tape all connections all so. This helps to not have any problems in the future.

So far so good on the trailer wiring kit. Took some effort to troubleshoot a faulty ground and/or power wire from existing system. Reran all wires for the new unit and works as it should. Satisfied customer. Cheers
*Note: Kits was installed on a 2011 Ford Escape

by:

Excellent service from eTrailer! The wiring kit arrived on the date promised and Julie H was very helpful on the phone ensuring the wiring kit was the correct one for my vehicle.

The kit is as described on the web site. Have not installed it yet although I'm confident it will work as indicated. Noticed the kit has a higher amp rating per circuit than other brands, a good thing all the way around!

by:

The website had plenty of information to be sure you would have everything you need for a seamless installation. The ordering process was easy and the customer service staff was attentive and extremely helpful. A breath of fresh air for an internet based operation. I will use them for all my future trailer and logistic equipment needs

Works great. A better way to have towing light that are bright without stressing my system. Thank you

2013 Ford Van

quick and easy. finding the route out of the sheet metal was the hardest part, but found one pretty quick! it turns out that my 2013 Ford E350 had a set of 4 wire already routed to the rear wnd just before the spare tire to a blank end that I could have used. Bu needed the extra power line on my setup anyway.

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2010 Ford Escape
Yes, we do have a hitch for a 2010 Ford Escape. It is the etrailer hitch item # e56AR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Escape with included hardware. The etrailer Hitch item # e56AR is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 3,500 lbs towing capacity and a 350 lbs maximum tongue weight that can be increased to 5,000 lbs and 500 lbs when used with a weight distribution hitch. This hitch is made in the USA and weighs 36 lbs. This hitch fits hybrid models but will not...

  • Is There a Trailer Hitch Receiver Available For a 2006 Lincoln Navigator?
I do have a recommendation for you as I do not see anyone manufacturing a custom fit aftermarket receiver for your 2006 Lincoln Navigator. Instead you can have a receiver fabricated and we have the Curt Weld-On 2" Receiver # E17 which will make fabricating a receiver much easier. If you are comfortable working with steel and welding this is something you can tackle otherwise you will want to visit a local fabrication shop to have the work completed. We do have the 4-Way # HM11140495 which...

  • How to Install a Brake Controller on a Jayco Motorhome with 2018 Ford E-Series Cutaway
According to my research, your 2018 Ford E-Series Cutaway does not have a built-in brake controller adapter port which means a brake controller must be hardwired and the plug you are referring to is not for a brake controller. In order to install a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 on your cutaway you will need a 4-way part # HM11140495, 7-way like part # ETBC7, and extra wire like part # 10-2-1.

  • Installation of the Hopkins Wiring Harness # 11140495 with Second Red Wire Capped
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11140495 does not use that second red wire. I reached out to the manufacturer and the converter box is used on many models, so for your system the brake and turn signal are already combined so that red wire is not utilized and has a heat shrink cap on it. Other vehicles that have a separate turn from brake light would use that red wire for the brake light input.

  • Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2007 Ford E-350 without Trailer Wiring
You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # HM11140495. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling...

  • What Is the Difference Between the Curt Hitch and the Draw-Tite Hitch on a 2010 Ford Edge
Both the Curt Hitch # C13067 and the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75992 are custom fit hitches that are designed to be mounted on to your 2010 Ford Edge. Both hitches are Class III rated and have the 2 inch opening at the hitch. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches have a gross trailer weight rating of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitch have limited life lifetime warranties. Of these two, I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch over the Curt for two reasons....

  • Parts Needed to Add 7 Way Trailer Plug and Brake Controller to 2013 Ford E-350
Since you don't have any existing wiring on your 2013 E-350 you'll need to start by adding a 4 way, which I recommend using the Hopkins Plug In Simple # HM11140495. This will provide you with the base wiring needed to then add a 7 way connector. Once you've installed this, you'll need to add the # ETBC7, which will provide you with the additional components needed to add the 7 way that will be required for a trailer with brakes. Once you've installed the # ETBC7 you'll need a brake controller....

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For 2007 Ford E-150
First, the trailer hitch I recommend for your 2007 E-150 is the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch, part # 41945. This is a Class V hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. The trailer wiring I recommend is the Hopkins Plug-In Wiring # HM11140495. This just plugs into the connection points located behind the tail lights, and then you run the hot lead wire to the positive battery. The # HM11140495 is a 4-way trailer connector so if you need a 7-way trailer connector you will need...

  • 4-Pole Wiring Harness for 2007 Ford E-450 Shuttle Van Without Factory Tow Package
For 4-pole trailer wiring for your 2007 Ford E450 van without the factory tow package you can use Curt custom-fit passive harness # C56020 or the Hopkins custom harness # HM11140495 which has a powered converter. Both are shown on the linked page. The differences between the two are that the Hopkins kit requires an additional wiring step for installation and that it offers a much higher 8-amp output current rating. • What Wiring and Brake Controller do You Recommend for My 2006 Ford Van E250?
Before installing a brake controller to your 2006 Ford Van, you need to have a 4-way and a 7-way wiring harness installed. First, you need to install the 4-way. If you need a 4-way harness, I recommend the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness - 4-Way # HM11140495. Once the 4-way is installed, you are ready for the 7-way. If you need this harness, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers # ETBC7. With the # ETBC7, you will be able to splice in the harness...

  • Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2005 Ford Van
If your van has the factory 4 pin connector, the install will be pretty simple. You'll just need a # 37185 4 pole to 7-way adapter. Plug it in to your 4 pole. If your trailer does not have brakes, simply ground the white wire and you're done. If the trailer does have brakes, you'll want to install a brake controller following the procedures in the help article I've linked for you. It sounds like you have a short in your trailer wiring. Since the white ground wire is getting power when you turn on your lights it is likely getting power from the brown running lights wire. • Recommended Wiring Harnesses to Add a 4 Pin and a 7 Way to a 2005 Ford E-450
Hey Jack, it's actually not to complicated, thankfully. All you're going to need to do is first add a 4 way with the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11140495 which just plugs in line with your OEM harness and does not require any splicing. The last thing you'd need is # ETBC7, which tees off of the newly added 4 pole to also give you a 7 way. So by this point now, you should have both a 4 pin and a 7 way on your 05 E-450.
