Video Transcript for Installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2023 Infiniti QX50

Hi, this is Scott with etrailer and today we're taking a look at and installing our CURT Class 3 Hitch for our 2023 INFINITI QX50. The CURT hitch on our INFINITI QX50 is gonna have a gloss black finish on it. It's gonna be a two-inch receiver. It really goes well with the color of our INFINITI we have in here today. Another nice feature with this one, it is gonna be a hidden cross tube design. So the only part you're gonna see is your receiver portion hanging out the bottom here.

So, that's really nice. Installation for this hitch is really straightforward. It's gonna be four bolts and four washers and it's really simple to put on. You can get something like this put on in your driveway in maybe 40 minutes or so. This hitch is gonna be nice if you need more room to carry stuff with you with your INFINITI.

It's gonna allow you to have a cargo carrier on the back. Say you need some more room, you have all the kids, you're going out camping or something, you have it filled up with the back. You need a little bit more room for a few things, like a cooler, maybe some wood or maybe your coolers, and your tents and stuff. This is gonna get that done for you. Also, it's gonna be great for hauling bikes.

You got a bunch of bikes you want to take with you. This is gonna do the trick for you as well. This CURT hitch is going to be a Class 3 hitch, and it's going to have a tongue weight of 400 pounds and that is the weight pushing down on this portion of the hitch receiver itself. It's also going to have a gross trailer weight rating of 4,000 pounds, and that is the weight of your trailer and everything that you have on it. But keep in mind, you do want to take a look at your owner's manual and make sure you're not exceeding your towing capacities in that.

So, you want to go with your lower number between your hitch and the number in your book just to stay safe. And as far as measurements go, from the center of the pin hole out to the edge of the bumper, you're looking at right at about four inches. And with that you're gonna be able to find out if any of your accessories that you have or that you're getting fold up at all, if you're gonna have enough room for them to fold up and not make contact with the back of your vehicle. From the top of our tube to the ground, we're looking at right at 12 inches there. And with that number you're gonna be able to find out if you need any rise in the shank of your accessories, like your bike rack, so that way you have clearance. Say you're backing out of a driveway that is sloped, that'll help you have clearance so that you're not rubbing anything on the ground. This hitch is gonna have a 5/8 hitch pin opening, and that's gonna allow you to hold onto any of your accessories that you have on. This hitch does not come with a pin, so you're gonna want to have to take a look at them here on etrailer and we can get you set up with one of those. A locking hitch pin is gonna be really nice, so if you have your accessories on, you do wanna make sure they're secure and nobody can take those off. Those are a really nice option that we have available as well. As far as our chain loops here, it is a nice rounded design and you're gonna be able to use your normal-style hooks or you can use the S-style as well. So that'll set you up and keep you safe with pulling your trailer. As far as installation goes, it's really simple to do, and you can get it done yourself pretty easily. Stick around and watch our video, and we'll help you get it installed. To start our installation on the back of our frame area here, we're gonna have weld nuts. What we're gonna want to do is just make sure those are cleaned out. So what I'm gonna do is just spray a little silicone spray up in there. Now, you can use penetrating oil or anything like that, and I'll take a little tube brush and just run it in and out. Make sure we have them nice and cleaned out. What that's gonna do is help it make it easier for us to thread in our bolts once we get our hitch in place. And we will do that on both sides. Now, what I like to do is have my hardware set up on each side of the hitch, and what we do is we'll take our conical washers that come in the kit, it's gonna have teeth on it. We want that to face up towards the hitch. Now, with an extra set of hands, we're gonna get it lifted in place. (conical washer clattering) Now, with it lifted in place and lined up, we can get our hardware started and just get it up there finger tight. Once we have our hitch centered up where we want it, we're just gonna take a 19-millimeter socket and we're gonna snug down our hardware. (drill whirring) After we have everything snug down, we can come back through and torque down our hardware to the specifications listed in our instruction manual. (torque wrench beeping) And that was a look at our CURT Class 3 Hitch for our 2023 INFINITI QX50. I'm Scott with etrailer, thanks for watching.

All went well. Installed on a 2019 Infiniti QX50. Direct bolt on. I was able to install the hitch myself without lifting up the vehicle. It’s a tight fit doing it yourself, make sure to leave the bolts loose on one end so you can maneuver the other side of hitch so it clears the bumper and exhaust. Helps to have something supporting the receiver, but is a good arm workout nevertheless. Installed in under 30 mins.

2020 Infiniti QX50

Received today and installed in less than 40 minutes. Hardest part without lifting the vehicle was matching up the holes to get the screws in. Luckily, I improvised with a brick big enough to help me and the rest was golden.
