Today on our 2013 Kia Sportage, we'll be installing the Curt 1-1/14 inch receiver hitch, part number C12030. This is what our hitch would look like once it's installed. Next, we'll going to give you couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitchman hole 00:17, to the auto side 00:18 of the bumper is 5-1/2 inches. From the top of the receiver to the opening to the ground is 13 inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier. Now, we'll go ahead with installation.
Now, to begin our install, we'll first point out the attachment points. Find 00:35 the total of four attachment points, two on each side. These attachment points will be well nuts 00:40 built into the frame by the manufacturer. Now, before you attempt to install the new hardware, we're going to go ahead and clean out the well nuts. To do this, we'll use a little spray lubricant and a half inch nylon toothbrush, part number 814092. Now, with the well nut cleaned out, we'll go ahead and try the new fastener. The new hardware we'll be using to secure the hitch will be a new 10mm bolt, along with the 3/8's mechanical tooth washer.
The teeths of the washer will face the hitch. Now, we know our hardware go nice and easily, we're ready to install the hitch. It's a good idea getting extra hands to help your your hitch while you install the fastener. As we line up the holes in the hitch, with the well nuts in the frame, go ahead and install the fasteners, finger-tight. Once we have them all in place, we'll go ahead and tighten them down. Go ahead and repeat this same process for the opposite side.
Next, we'll go ahead and torque the specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now, with the hitch secured, and torque specifications, we're ready to hit the road. That does it for tine install of our Curt hitch, part number C12030 on out 2013 Kia Sportage. .

The delivered hitch had some fairly substantial scrapes on it but it fitted very well. The installation instructions didn't mention that you had to release the muffler but that was not a problem to accomplish. Very speedy deliver of the product. Nice product.
I had concerns about how difficult it would be to install this hitch. I should not have worried. It could not have been any easier. Less than 15 minutes and I was done, and that included the time to unpack the box. It helped that I had another person working with me, but I could have done it alone.

Once out of the box and read through the instructions....the installation only took 10 -15 minutes tops! All the holes lined up, and good spacing from the body and muffler. My new Curt trailer hitch C12030 is one fine addition to my 2011 Tucson. I researched a great deal before choosing the Curt. The videos made all the difference. I was a bit concerned that the car pictured with this unit on line was a Kia Sportage. But I can assure you that it fit my Tucson like a glove. Many of the models stated the need to lower the muffler for installation and this one did not. I liked that but, I did need to lower the muffler! The great part was it was no problem due to the excellent videos provided on the site.So I knew just what to do and it was not much effort. The hitch is very heavy and well constructed. I installed it all alone and again got a great tip from another reviewer on line who said that he had used the carton that it came in to help raise it into position when assemblinng that first bolt on one side. That was all I needed. I was done in less than 30 minutes and it looks great!
The hitch came in either bent or welded together crooked so the holes did not properly align with my vehicle. Could only screw 3 out of the 4 bolts when trying to attach it. Extremely disappointed to receive an inoperable product I wasted time trying to install.

Ordered this product on Wednesday morning with standard UPS ground shipping and it arrived the next day.
Installation was a breeze, with the only difficult part was me installing it alone. I'm not a mechanic but have some technical knowledge. Still only took about 10 minutes to do. Super easy install, and great customer service. I will continue to tell everyone about Etrailer, and will be ordering another class 2 hitch for a 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

Hitch arrived quickly and well packaged. Item exactly as described on the web site, installation instructions received with the hitch are clear and concise. Installation was a breeze, took me about a half hour (as outlined in the instructions for DIY installations), though it would have been easier with two people. Looks good on the Tucson, nice and neat, especially with the hitch cover attached, the bar is hidden. Will be using it, primarily, to hold a cargo carrier.

Hitch worked flawlessly. Used it for a cargo carrier also ordered from etrailer to move my daughters stuff back and forth from college. Still tight, no rust, great product.
It took a few minutes to figure out how to fit the hitch around the muffler, but once we accomplished that, we had the itinstalled in 10 minutes. The price was extremely affordable. I bought a hitch for my last vehicle at three times the cost. I received free shipping, and it arrived in two days. Unbelievable! I'll be using the hitch mainly for my bike rack. It looks and works great. I am very pleased and impressed.

My brother and I were able to install the hitch easily. I dont think I could have done it alone. It wasnt hard, but I appreciated the extra hands to hold it in place while it was bolted into place.
Nice quality. Easy to install. Also ordered the tow ready T-one connector easy to do it yourself trailer wiring. Was just as easy to install as in the how to video's. Great job on those videos. Would do this again anytime

A perfect fit! Fast delivery. Great pricing. Easy to install. Remember to drop the muffler down b4 installation. I used a floor jack to raise the unit into place. Installed in 30 minutes.

I love this product and I don't use the term "Love" all that lightly. I received my hitch promptly after ordering it and it was in good condition. Once I got my vehicle in the air to do the install I realized that the installation could not have been any easier. It took just under ten minutes to install the hitch using the four bolts provided and the factory bolt hole location. Done, over with, on the ground, and now I'm already using the hitch to take my bicycle out. I'm thrilled! And no, I did not get paid to say that. Thank you for making it easy!
Product received in a timely manner, was well packed. Installation was easy and the instructions were very easy to follow. I will be using the hitch receiver for our bike rack, so no wiring needed for trailer. Very good fit and hitch is not obvious. I like the look. I would recommend this for any one looking to add a hitch to their Sportage...a lot cheaper than what Kia wants to charge!
Previous car had one and a quarter inch hitch, got totaled by a deer on vacation. So all my accessories bike rack, cargo carrier and towing accessories were already one and a quarter. This particular model was one-on-one quarter. So no need to buy all two inch accessories or an adapter. Bolted to my 2011 Kia Sportage in just seven and a half minutes. Without bike rack on or tow hitch in can't even tell it has a trailer hitch. Black finish on product was in perfect condition, so I suggest using a large piece of spare carpet in driveway, as not to ruin the finish. Only using it for day use at this time have not gotten light kit.

Hitch itself fit well. (Minor issue: about 1/4" skewed side-to-side with respect rear bumper, bit cannot say if holes in hitch or weld nuts in frame were the cause.) Not really visible from behind, and will not affect function. Good, simple instructions.
Excellent quality bolts; had to use them to ream out weld nuts after initial cleaning (as specified in instructions), due to bolts being exposed to weather for 5 years. No problem, just tedious (repeated insertions with spray lube, retract, clean bolt, spray, and insert a bit farther on all 4 weld nuts).
Not bought a local Reese ball mount (hitch is a Curt); Reese will not fit Curt; got a Curt ball mount and I'm all set.
Wiring with the wire harness kit was easily accomplished; only "work" is securing the 16-ga battery wire under the vehicle securely. Put this wire through same grommet as wires supplied, and followed brake lines as anchor points. Used my own, heavier wire ties for this (also used more than the several that were supplied).
All hooked up and ready to go; a really good value, I think.
I didn’t install this myself...it went on a 2011 Kia, and I expected to have to deal with frozen hardware, and I was right. But ordering was a snap, delivery was faster than I could possibly have expected, and not that I’m in the market for another hitch soon, when I am I’ll be back.
2016 Kia Sportage LX AWD. It took me 10 minutes to install this hitch. No need to drop the exhaust, just roll it in between the exhaust tip and the fascia and bolt it up. Stop wasting your time looking elsewhere online for hitches.

It sounds like the hitch was severely flexed in the shipping process. Normally you can bend it back into place but in your case it looks like an exchange or return would be better. I will make sure this is taken care of - be on the look out for an email!
