Features to know about

Haul Everyday Loads with a Strong, Class III Hitch

This Curt trailer hitch receiver is built for real towing. With a 2" x 2" opening, a 5,000-lb maximum gross trailer weight, and a 500-lb maximum tongue weight (6,000-lb GTW and 600-lb TW when used with weight distribution), it’s ready for small campers, boats, or utility trailers. The sturdy square-tube design keeps things stable when you’re loaded up, and the fully welded construction gives you the strength and confidence to haul consistently.

Simple Bolt-On Install Without Extra Work

You don’t need to weld or modify anything to get this hitch in place. It bolts directly to your vehicle’s frame using a complete hardware kit that’s included in the box. The precision, robotic welding ensures the holes line up right where they should for a custom fit. It’s straightforward for DIY installs and fits cleanly without drilling or unnecessary fabrication.

Built to Resist Rust and Road Wear

The gloss black powder coat finish over a protective base coat gives this hitch serious corrosion resistance. Whether it’s road salt in winter or moisture from towing near the water, that double-layer protection helps keep the steel strong and looking good over time. The finish also adds a clean look under the bumper that blends in well with most vehicles.

Ready for All Your Gear

Since it’s a 2" Class III receiver, you can use it with most ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers without needing adapters. Just add the accessories you want for your next trip—whether that’s hauling bikes to the trailhead or attaching a cargo basket for extra storage—and you’re good to go.

by:

Great quality, very easy to install. Only thing, had to trim the bumper cover about 3/8" for proper fit.

by:

Perfect fit. Took less than hour to install it. Love it. Thanks etrailer

by:

by:

The hitch installation was easy and done in forty-five minutes. William

by:

Great web site and fantastic customer service. So many good videos products and installation

by:

Working great for my 2003 Mitsubishi montrero sport. Fast shipping. I received the it in 2 days. Thank you for great service and great price.

by:

Was able to install within about 30 minutes and it matched up perfectly. Had to drop spare tire down long enough to bolt hitch on and then raise the spire tire back up. Perfect fit.

by:

Great price easy install, works great. Instructions were clear and I was able to get the hitch installed in less than 45 min

by:

The shipment came very fast, and installation was relatively easy. The hardest part is trying to reach the top of the bolts to put the nuts on...which has nothing to do with this product, just the design of the vehicle! I would definitely purchase from etrailer again.

by:

Awesome product! Effortless ordering. Etrailer gave me express delivery!it IWhat wonderful service and a great product. I highly recommend etrailer!

by:

Curt Receiver - perfect fit, all hardware included and etrailer is on it! Not my first order here and each time they get the order out fast and it's right. My first stop for RV needs.

by:

Hitch arrived extremely fast. With all parts. Simple instructions and easy to install. Didn’t have to drill any holes, matched up perfectly. It actually took me less time to install as it took for me to figure out how to lower my spare tire. Looks great and I couldn’t be happier with it.

by:

Product was exactly as advertised. Bolted up to my Montero Sport perfectly. etrailer.com expedited shipping on one of my other items to make sure they both arrived on the same day, which was very thoughtful. Thanks for the great online shopping experience.

by:

I tried getting a hitch locally and they were all at least $100 more than etrailer. I got one form U-Haul for about the same price but they had to special order it and when it finally came in, it was the wrong one and was used! The how-to videos made installation a breeze and I did it in less than an hour.
Thanx a lot!!

by:

This is a good, solid product; fit perfectly with the two thru-frame long bolts and one fully threaded bolt into the threaded hole-into-frame.
After some phanagling of the full-size spare tire on a chain, fit my '01 Montero Sport perfectly (as eTrailer predicted it would). thank you eTrailer! -jon

by:

Awesome!!! Bolted right in place just like in the video. Looks really good on my Montero Sport. Price was right on. Shipping was alot faster than i thought it would be. Now ill be able to tow my war eagle boat. I wished that i would have bought the wiring harness and all as a package deal and saved a couple bucks.

by:

I received the my trailer hitch earlier than expected, in 3 days instead of 5 to 7. It took me 30 minutes to remove the transportation hooks, 30 minutes to install the hitch. I am very satisfied with the product.

by:

If you are not pretty handy, the wiring for the trailer is challenging. Figuring out how the wiring in the vehicle is routed and planning where/how to install the trailer kit is not for the faint of heart. One wire on the kit was about 2 feet short and needed a spliced extension.

The trailer receiver 13223 went in without a "hitch" and it looks great.

by:

Excelent product, great service , fit it perfectly, 30 min , and was installed.

by:

Easy install, great fit with no mods. Love it.

by:

The hitch was easy to install. The bolts that came with it were too long si I had to purchase shorter ones. Other than that, no issues.

by:

The hitch was delivered in 3 days and came with all the hardware needed to install it correctly. Had to push the spare tire a little forward and discard the tow hooks that were already on it but it all fit great, it took about 40 min to install it. I would say this is a great hitch.

by:

I just wanted to say that I was really happy with this Trailer Hitch Receiver, and very very happy with the service I got from eTrailer. The hitch receiver was very easy to install. It took me less than an hour, but I was very happy with the results. I highly recommend this product, and etrailer for all my vechicle acessory needs.

  • Trailer Hitch for 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited
We do indeed offer Class III receiver hitches for the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero and Montero Sport (two distinctly different vehicles). For the 2001 Montero, use the Curt Class # C13800 III hitch. • Creaking Sounds After Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
The first thing you will want to check is the hardware used to install the trailer hitch on your 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. If the hardware is not properly torqued down to the specifications indicated in the instructions (linked to the right for reference) then that could be the issue. The hardware has to be torqued to the specifications. Too loose and the hitch can come off. Too tight and it can damage the hitch and vehicle frame. If the hardware is torqued properly then you might...

  • Is The Hopkins Tail Light Converter HM48925 Correct For A 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport?
I would be happy to help! The Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit # HM48925 you were looking at is the correct wiring harness for your 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. This kit is a universal kit that will get spliced into your factory tail light wiring to power your trailer connector. It is different than what is needed for the non-sport models as those models have a harness available that will plug in inline of the factory tail light connectors, and would not require any splicing. There should be no problem with your automatic transmission when towing as long as the transmission is in good working order and you stay within the towing capacity that is recommended for your 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. • Does the Spare of a 2000 Mitsubishi Get Reinstalled After Trailer Hitch Install
Sometimes after you install a hitch when you go to reinstall the spare tire you end up having to angle the spare as you raise it back into position so that it will fit correctly.
