Features to know about

Haul and Carry with Confidence: Class III Strength for Everyday Towing

When you need to pull small campers, boats, or utility trailers, this Class III hitch has the muscle to handle it. It’s rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 600 lbs. With a weight distribution setup, those limits rise to 9,000 lbs GTW and 900 lbs TW. That’s solid capacity for light to moderate towing, giving you the strength and stability you want when hauling gear or heading out on weekend trips.

Add Versatility to Your Ride: 2" Receiver for Racks and Cargo Carriers

The 2" x 2" receiver opening works with most popular bike racks, cargo carriers, and ball mounts. It’s built for versatility—whether you’re loading up for a ride, adding a storage platform for road trips, or connecting trailer accessories. The receiver gives you a secure fit for all kinds of attachments so you can put your vehicle to work in more ways than one.

Simplify the Install: Bolt-On Design with Hardware Included

You don’t need to weld or modify anything to get this hitch mounted. The fully welded steel construction bolts right to the frame using the included hardware kit and step-by-step instructions. The precision, robotic welding ensures the hitch lines up just right, making it easier for DIY installers working from home with basic tools.

Built to Last: Durable Steel with Protective Powder Coat

The hitch is made from sturdy, fully welded steel and finished with a gloss black powder coat layered over a protective base coat. That combination helps fight off rust and corrosion while keeping the hitch looking clean over time. It’s designed for long-term durability so you can trust it through years of towing and outdoor use.

Thanks, great product.

by:

Product was exactly as ordered. Installation was was easy and it looks great. Fast shipping. Will definitely do business with you guys again. Thanks!

by:

Great hitch. If you have the right tools, it isn't too bad of an install without a car lift. I was able to install the hitch in a few hours. I am only 16 and was able to figure it out! I'm sure you could too! Great buy.

by:

Product was very easy to install. Anyone with some basic knowledge and tools can install this in under an hr. When drilling holes start with smaller bit then work way up to the half in but. Also use some hydraulic oil to help cut and save your bits!! Piece of cake

by:

wish I would have knowen it needed a 1/2" drillbit to drill holes other than that its a great product and e-trailer got it shipped to me super fast will defently be doing more shopping for my 2006 dodge durango at e-trailer.!!!

by:

I have ordered 2 hitches for my vehicles within the last 2 years and these products have always been very good quality and shipped to me on time. Nothing but good things to say about etrailer. If you are on the fence about ordering from etrailer then I can assure you that it would be the correct choice. They also have always been very helpful with any questions I have had or even just following up to make sure I am happy with the product and that it has been delivered.

by:

The service was great and the shipping was quick. Installation was simple and easy. I will recommend E trailer to everyone.

by:

Part arrived quickly and was exactly as pictured on the site. Installation on my 2008 Dodge Durango was straightforward with the help of a buddy of mine who had installed hitches before, and had all the right tools on hand.

by:

I purchased the Curt reciever and T-1 wiring harness 118390. Insructions with the reciever are basic, but clear. However the harnes instructions were a bit confusing, with discriptions that didn't match the pictures. Not to worry... the instructional video from this sight was perfectly clear and easy to follow. Drilling 1/2" holes in the frame bar was the most difficult part of the installation. The rest was simple.

by:

Recently ordered hitch for Chrysler Aspen and it arrived in only 3 days!! What a surprise and everything was described. The in depth videos you have on your sight are awesome and make DIY installation a breeze!! I also can't say enough about customer support, they are polite and helpful and really want to make sure the customer Thanks again and will use etrailer for future needs

by:

This trailer hitch has been on my Durango for a year now and I am extremely happy with it. It was easy to install, has stayed tight and secure. I will order from etrailer again.

by:

Install was straight forward. Excellent finish, looks and works great.

by:

Hitch installation was easy and though the packaged instructions were poor, the video of etrailer.com was fantastic. I recommend this hitch and it's worked great pulling the family boat. Plus it's a great excuse to buy some new drill bits.

by:

Very happy with the receiver. It does stick out a little further than the factory, but not bad. The instructions say to loosen the fascia to drill the holes, but that isn't realistic. You don't really get enough clearance and you would have to hold the fascia up while you drill. Completely removing the fascia is just a few more bolts and will make the job much easier. I personal removed the receiver after drilling to get all the drill shavings out of there and hit the hole with spray paint to minimize rust. This does require drilling 1/2 holes. Start with 1/8", then 1/4", then 1/2" to make it easier and to not ruin you bits. A little 3-in1 oil every now and then to lube the bits is also a must.

What bit did you use? Specialty?

The install guys in our shop use carbide drill bits. It is recommended to drill at a lower RPM with more pressure applied, while frequently oiling the drill bit.

etrailer makes a great product. Got the receiver, wiring harness, and plug holder for a 2008 Dodge Durango. Everything fit perfectly and instructions were simple. Only mistake I made was using a dull drill bit which work hardened the metal I was drilling. Lesson learned.

  • Does Curt Hitch # 13297 Extend Out Past The Bumper on a 2006 Dodge Durango
We have six different hitches compatible with your 2006 Dodge Durango, including the Curt # 13297 that you referenced. All of the hitches available for your vehicle do extend out a bit past the bumper/fascia. The diagram shows the Draw-Tite placement in relation to your bumper/fascia, however, all of the hitches will be extremely similar in placement. The picture is of the Draw-Tite # 75162 which does give you a length - this picture is taken on the back of a 2009 Chrysler Aspen, so your...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2005 Dodge Durango
The cheapest class III hitch for your Durango is going to be the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13072 but this isn't going to be a round tube hitch. This hitch will simply bolt to the crossmember on your car using the provided U-bolts, but you are going to have to drill two 1/2" bolt holes to finish the install. The bit more expensive option # 13297 is going to check all of those boxes you're looking for, and will require no drilling into your crossmember because it'll utilize the existing...

  • Towing Capacity of 2007 Dodge Durango
The bar you are speaking of is capable of towing up to the tow capacity of the vehicle, if the vehicle is correctly equipped. The receiver you referenced, the CURT Class III part # 13072 can handle 6000 lbs, 600 lb TW. When equipped with a weight distribution system, the receiver can handle 9000 lb towing, 900 lb TW. I did some research on the Durango, and found some references listing the towing capacity at 8950 lbs. Some references state that that figure was only for the 5.7 L hemi,...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Harness For a 2005 Dodge Durango
I recommend installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13072 on your 2005 Dodge Durango. This will easily bolt to the impact structure behind your rear bumper. Since it uses this impact structure it will not hang down like the other Curt # 13297. I prefer Curt as they are made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118390 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This will allow you to connect to most small trailers and Auxiliary Lights # C53201. If...

  • Capacity and Installation of Curt Class III Receiver # 13072 on 2006 Dodge Durango
In order to drill the mounting holes into the cross member at the rear of your Durango, the fasteners holding the rear bumper fascia would be removed so that the fascia can be lifted to allow easier access for the drill. The fascia does not need to be completely removed. The foam fascia reinforcement on top of the cross member will need to be trimmed to allow the U-bolts to pass over the frame member, as shown in the install instructions (see link). • Installation, Drilling and Trimming Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Chrysler Aspen
What our installers do when installing hitches on the Aspen, like your 2008, is to first get the hitch in position and attach the u-bolts that go over the vehicle bumper structure. Then, they use the hitch as a template and drill through the bumper structure from the back of the vehicle. Then they drill out the other side. The bumper structure is hallow so you do not have to drill all the way through. It is easier to get the holes lined up correctly this way. Take a look at the instructions...
