    • Makes up for height difference between RV's hitch and towed vehicle's base plates
    • Also lets you mount a bike rack, cargo carrier, or other 2" hitch accessory
  • Provides either drop or rise for adequate ground clearance
  • Constructed of sturdy steel
    • Solid shank for suprerior strength and durability
  • Resists rust and corrosion with black powder coat finish
  • Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock sold separately
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers
  • Drop/rise: 6"
  • Receiver: 2" x 2"
  • Tongue weight: 400 lbs
  • Gross towing weight: 10,000 lbs
  • Length: 14" overall
    • 3-7/8" From center of hitch pin hole to angled brace
    • 9-1/2" From center of hitch pin hole to center of pin hole
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Not what I expected. Product is over designed and much, much to HEAVY. Also the horizontal pin to pin dimension is 10 inches, much to long compared to the blue ox unit at 71/2 inches. However that was my mistake in not ordering the more expensive blue ox unit. I should have sought technical help before placing an order.

by:

Very well built and finished. I'm using this hitch adapter to level my tow bar while flat towing my jeep. It works perfect.

by:

I bought this drop hitch because I carry a motorcycle sideways on a rack behind my SUV. The SUV sits high so pushing the motorcycle up the ramp is difficult and lowering that rack makes loading and unloading easier and safer. The SUV also has the spare tire on the rear door and this drop hitch moves the rack out about two inches giving me more room for the bike. The big thing about this drop hitch is it’s strength. My bike weighs 350 pounds this hitch is rated at 400 pounds but it can probably handle much more than the class III hitch itself.

by:

I recently purchased the 6" hitch extension from e-trailer... which fit perfect thanks to the wonderful help I received from Debora H. Without her help and all the time she spent with me on the phone I would have purchased the wrong one...again. I appreciate all her help, she saved me from another frustrating purchase and return. The hitch extension she recommended fit perfect for my application and was less expensive than the one I was originally looking at. Thank you again for your help.

This high-low hutch adapter was exactly what I needed for The proper height to tow my dinghy/car. Very well-made & no worries about being able to handle the weight. My tow vehicle is a 2017 Ford F150.

by:

Received the product in excellent time. It is just what we needed and were very pleased that we could get the drop hitch made by Roadmaster as it will match the tow bar that we have on out motorhome and tow vehicle.

by:

Great product. Heavy duty, well-made. Works perfect for my custom hitch application.

Great product, functions as advertised

by:

I needed this high/low hitch receiver to bring the hitch up to level to pull my jeep behind my RV. It works excellent, very happy with it one year later!

by:

works great, it is the right drop for the toad car so it pulls level. I have seen some toads being pulled and the hitch receiver is to high so the front of the car is being pulled at an upward angle, which is not a good idea.

by:

I installed a TorkLift Eco Hitch on the front of my F250. It sits higher than most front hitches. I need this drop receiver to lower my motorcycle below my line of sight! VERY heavy duty!

by:

The product works as described. There is one problem in compatibility with a Blue Ox tow bar. The pin holes in the receiver are pressed rather than drilled. This process decreases the inner receptacle size and it has to be increased by manually filing the inside of the tow bar receiver. Structurally well made.

by:

Just what you need if your 4 wheel drive pickup is too high. I use it to get my wheel chair ramp close enough to the ground to use.
Very well made.

Thanks for the feedback, but did want to let you know that this adapter is intended for flat towing a vehicle only. IF you are needing a significant drop ball mount you might consider the Gen-Y line of ballmounts. For example the # 325-GH-515 might be a good option since it does provide a 10 inch drop, and may still allow you to use your existing ball mount.

by:

I needed the Roadmaster high-low adapter to drop my tow point down so my tow bar was level between my Motorhome and my Chevy Colorado. It works as advertised and even with the weight of the truck pulling on the drop of the bar it is solid enough I feel very confident that I will be able to tow for many carefree miles.

by:

Works like a charm! I bought an entire toad tow package kit wiring, breaking system tow bar, base plates everything ! My ranger all the way to Mount Rushmore last year and everything worked great! The trailer support was excellent whilst I was installing everything! Multiple calls to tech-support got me through and made for a successful install. I would not hesitate to buy From them again!

by:

Worked great to level the tow bar out between our lifted Jeep and the RV. Very stout and glad we went with heavier duty unit

by:

My motorhome was to high to tow my Jeep so I needed this hitch adapter to bring the tow bar inline with my vehicle.

The 6" drop hitch was just what I needed to level my tow bar between my (Georgetown) RV and (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara) towed vehicle.

It is a very strong, solid piece. Just completed a round trip between 700 mile round-trip with no problems.

The run-through of the unit dimensions in your video really helped to ensure the unit was the right fit for my RV receiver and tow bar.

Solid chunk of metal. No problems. Need to keep areas that rub treated for rust, but thats expected.

by:

Created a nice level towing setup for my 2018 Chevrolet Colorado behind my 2023 Entegra Esteem Class C motorhome.

by:

outstanding, order it, and they got it right out!

by:

Great product, exactly as desribed.

by:

Exactly as Alex described. He helped me pick after I explained to him what I was trying to do.

by:

Very solid.

by:

Simple to install and absolutely needed to keep the tow bar within 3" of the hitch height. Plus when I went over a steep driveway in my 30' Winnebago Vista, I was concerned that this may bottom out - but instead, there was a frame rail under the RV that scraped instead. This unit was well clear. If you find yourself in a situation where this could scrape the ground, it is easy just to put the brake on in the car and pull the release pin on the this unit. Then, reconnect later.

Great. It is really needed to ensure no more than a 3 height difference between car and RV. Also found that on a steep driveway, the underside of my F53 chassis on my Winnebago Vista dragged slightly and this hitch stepdown was nowhere close to touching.

by:

Using Maximus-3 tow hooks had to rise my receiver on London Aire to level up with a Rubicon-X

  • Solution for Towing Trailer Level that is 6 Inches Higher Than Tow Vehicle
I do have a solution for you, however high-low adapters like the Roadmaster # RM-048-6 that you referenced are only designed for flat towing a vehicle. They are not suitable for towing a camper/trailer. To get the rise you need to tow your trailer level, you will instead want to look at a ball mount with around a 6 inch rise. I recommend taking a look at the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 2793. This ball mount is compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers, features a 6-3/4 inch rise (or an 8 inch...

  • Scooter Carrier for Rear of Motorhome
We do offer a motorcycle/scooter carrier that's rated for use on a motorhome, part # UF48-979033 from Ultra-Fab. As long as the scooter's tires aren't wider than 5 inches, the carrier should be compatible with your scooter. In order to use a motorcycle/scooter carrier, the hitch on the motorhome would need to have sufficient capacity to handle the 300 lb weight of the scooter and the 45 lb weight of the # UF48-979033 carrier. There is no way to add a bike rack and bikes to the Ultra-Fab...

  • How to Raise Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for Additional Ground Clearance
A hi-low adapter like the part # RM-048-6 you mentioned is designed for a rolling load like a vehicle being flat towed behind a motorhome. Although it hasn't been designed for a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack, it can be used for that purpose. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent..

  • Can an Extender be Used with the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Bike Rack Clearance?
That's definitely not a good situation. If you raise the bike rack up a bit will that give you the clearance you're needing? Adding another extender to your Roadmaster Adapter # RM-048-6 is never a good idea because it adds more potential fail points and pretty much every adapter manufacturer states not to use more than one adapter either. What I like to recommend to people is the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-304. If you flip it upside down you can use the...

  • Does Curt High Low Adapter part # C26FV Have a Tongue Weight Rating
Hey Eric, since Curt designed the high low adapter part # C26FV for flat towing vehicles only it was never tested for a tongue weight rating and therefore it doesn't actually have one. Instead we have the Roadmaster part # RM-048-6 which also has a 6 inch rise/drop but has a tongue weight rating of 400 lbs. You can't tow a trailer with this but you could use a hitch cargo carrier or a bike rack.

  • How to Gain Ground Clearance For a Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier on a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander
To resolve your ground clearance issue with your cargo carrier, I would recommend getting a cargo carrier with a rise in the shank like the Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18110. I am not aware of a trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver that will fit on your 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. • Is There an Option to Lower the Trailer Hitch Receiver for Motorcycle Carrier Use?
There really isn't an option to lower your hitch 6 inches and carry 400 lb motorcycle with carrier. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 is the strongest option with a 400 lb tongue weight capacity that doesn't account for the weight of the carrier, so is not a working option. Adapters simply are not strong enough for the tongue weight you are seeking. Your best option is to use the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise...
