Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit in a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500

Hi, Jesse with Etrailer. Today, we'll be taking a look at the Way Safe Safe Load Gooseneck Ball Kit on our 2022 GMC Sierra 3500. This kit is for trucks that have the OEM prep package, and today we're working on a truck that has an eight foot bed. However, this will work just fine with a six and three quarter bed. One glaring thing that sets this apart from all of our other gooseneck ball kits is gonna be that built in scale, so that's gonna give you an instant reading once you load your trailer. You'll know what your tongue weight is, and you won't have to worry about stopping by the way stations.

So your gooseneck ball kit will come in this nice below molded case. You could also keep it in here if you're not currently using it. It also comes with a rubber cap to cover up the hole when your gooseneck is not installed. A key, or two keys, because it locks. Your safety cable anchor's here, and the ball itself.

Getting everything set up is super simple. You'll take your anchor here, push down on this clip, rotate it, slide that into place, and then rotate that 90 degrees. That's locked in, and you'll take your ball here with the key. Make sure that this little push pin is pulled out, (object clanking) and slide it into place, and then just push that key hole in. These are on the smaller side for clevis hooks, but I was able to eventually get it to clip in.

You'll see this kind of obstructs me, so we'll just have to rotate it that way, and it will engage. The bolt is two and five sixteenths, and it's made of a rustproof stainless steel, so that will hold up to the test of time. The maximum gross trailer weight that you can have on this ball will be 30,000 pounds, and the vertical load limit is 7,500 pounds. Just be sure to double check your owner's manual for your truck, just to ensure that you can handle that weight safely. Here's a closer look at our scale here.

You'll see that it goes up by 1,000 pound increments all the way up to that maximum tongue weight of 7,500. One thing some people worry about is the added height. Since it has that built in scale, it is gonna sit just a little bit higher than other gooseneck balls. So the. From the bottom of the truck bed to the top of our ball here looks like eight inches. So when you're not towing your trailer, since this does lock, you could leave it in here, but you'll probably want full access to your bed when you're not towing. So it's super easy to uninstall. Just pull that rubber cap off the key, pop that out, and that'll come out, and you can put it into your case. Then for our safety cable loops, we'll just push down on the silver part, rotate the black part, and it comes right up, and you'll want to rotate those back just to make 'em store in the case better. Same with this one. Comes right out. And then to cover up our hole, we'll use it included rubber cap. If you're shopping around for gooseneck ball kits, this one's gonna function just like the rest of the other ones, and also have that added benefit of the built in scale. So whether you're towing multiple trailers, or just want to really nail down your load and your tongue weight, this is gonna be a great option for you. Anyways, this has been a look at the Way Safe Safe Load Gooseneck Ball Kit on our 2022 GMC Sierra 3500.

  • How Much Taller is Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball Compared to B&W Ball
Hi Kelly, nice setup! The Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball # WS74ZR measures 8-3/8" from the base with an overall height of 11". The same measurement on the B&W # BWGNXA2061 is 5-3/4" so it will sit approximately 2-5/8" taller once installed. More than likely that will be enough to get your the clearance you need when parking. • Does the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit WS74ZR Work w/a Anderson Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch?
No, I am sorry Dan it will not. The Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit item # WS74ZR is going to be too tall for a Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel hitch like item # AN77VR. You'll want to use either a regular gooseneck ball like item # C60692 or the Andersen Ultimate Connection Adapter for Factory Gooseneck Hitches w/ Pop-In Balls item # AN27VR. What kind of trailer are you pulling?

  • How Tall is the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit WS74ZR?
Hey Denise. The top of the gooseneck ball on the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit item # WS74ZR is going to sit 8-3/4" from the lower ridges in your F-350's bed or 8-1/4" from the top of the taller ridges. The height of the ball is 10" tall from the ball bearings to the top of the hitch ball. A standard gooseneck ball like the Curt item # C60627 has an installed height of 5-1/8".
