Now this gas strut's designed to replace a worn out or damaged strut on your boat hatch lid or a compartment door. This will extend to ease lifting your hatch lid, and it does compress to gently close your hatch without slamming. It is a heat treated steel construction, which is very durable.

And then they do a corrosion resistant coating on it so it won't rust, even in saltwater areas.It does easily install in minutes. There's no special tools required. Basically uses a ball and socket installation. It'll attach to ball studs on the inside of your boat's hatch or compartment door. Now, when you do install this, you do want to make sure that the inner rod right here is always facing down, and it is recommended to replace these gas shocks in pairs.

The connection type, this is designed to fit on a 10 millimeter ball socket.Now, when you go to install these, actually, first of all, when you go to remove your old one, what you want to do is get a flat tip screwdriver, and then you just put it under the spring clip right here, pry it up, and that'll release it from the ball socket. Do the same on this end to remove the old one. And then to put the new one on, same way. You'll just pry this clip up. You don't want to take it off.

Just pry it up enough to relieve the pressure right there, and then put that onto the ball socket, push the clip back down. It'll secure it. Do the same on this end. Total length on this, which is measured from the center of this ball, socket to the center of this one, it's right at 20 inches long.
