Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your hood stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your hood to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Custom Fit Hood Gas Strut. Now, this has been designed to fit your 2015 to 2022 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Just input the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our Fit Guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, if your truck's hood keeps closing while you're trying to work on your engine, it's gonna be time to change that strut.
And then if you replace it with this custom fit gas strut, this will make your hood operate again like new. The connection type is ball socket, and let me go ahead and give you the extended length. So I'm gonna be measuring center of socket to center of socket, and as I hope you can see, we're sitting at almost 21 inches. I'm gonna call it at 20 15/16 inches. The compressed length is gonna be about 16 inches.
The dampening groove inside the tube is going to prevent bouncing and provide a smooth operation in any temperature, extending the rod from the tube to open the hood and hold it in place. And then compressing the rod slowly to close the hood without slamming shut. The internal wiper is going to prevent sticking and it's gonna reduce friction by lubricating the rod with oil. This is going to be a quick tool-free installation that's gonna connect directly to your truck's OEM ball studs. And we do have a black powder-coated steel tube and nitrite-coated rod.
They're gonna be rust and corrosion-resistant. And it's always a good idea to replace your struts in pairs where applicable.
