Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Curt EZR Double Lock Under-bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch. This is a heavy duty under-bed hitch that lets you tow your gooseneck trailer. Does use the double lock system here which will provide added security because it uses two pins that holds the ball in place instead of your normal one. The locking mechanism, the double pins, are zinc plated on the mechanism to provide superior corrosion resistance. If you notice the ball's a chrome plated hitch ball which will easily remove when you're not towing and give you complete access to your truck bed.The nice feature about it is you can just flip the ball over like this, drop it back into the hole and it will store just like that. Release your handle and it locks it into place.
Then they do have an included rubber cover right here. That'll just keep the grime out of the ball hole when it's being stored. Then you have complete truck bed access. If you notice around the ball hole has a nice chrome ring surrounds the hitch ball hole to provide a tight low profile look. The handle here has a nice comfort grip handle and it can be positioned on either side of the truck bed. We just have it installed for accessing it on the drivers side wheel well but if you wanted to put it on the passengers side you could also do that.It does use the 5/8" fixed spring loaded safety hook-ups right here that are built in.
The hitch does have a carbide black coat finish to it which is durable and corrosion resistant. To install this it's an easy one person installation. It does require a custom installation kit which we do sell separately on our website. I'd recommend to go to the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it will show you the correct kit you need to install this. We do sell that kit separately. Also when you do install this it will require a 4" diameter hole in the truck bed in order to access the ball.
Also four 1/2" diameter holes for the safety chain u bolts to come through. Another nice little thing they add to it if you notice this bright orange center locator here. What's nice about this is it will help eliminate any drilling errors. In other words when you go to drill your 4" hole you don't want to guess where you're going to drill it. What you want to do is before you install this chrome surround here, you're going to install this from underneath the truck, before you install this chrome surround what you do is you take your center locator, drop it in the hole.
Then when you put that up against the truck bed from underneath it has a center hole here that you'll drill a pilot hole through there and that will come up through your truck bed. That will give you an idea on your truck bed where to use the pilot hole to drill your four inch hole. This will stay in there. What's nice about this . You don't remove this because once you install this it will be up in there. When you drill down with your four inch drill bit, as you're drilling it as soon as you start seeing orange shavings appear then you know you've drilled far enough. You know when to stop. Nice little feature to add to help installation. Also if you notice here there's a section of u shaped rubber edging. You'll install that after you've drilled the hole in your truck bed. They give you this rubber edging to install around that hole so there's no sharp edges. Also there's a couple accessories that Curt builds that you could use on this. They have a Curt X5 Fifth Wheel Adapter Plate which we sell separately. It allows for fifth wheel towing part number C16220. Basically what that is, it's a set of rails having center posts on it so you can drop it right into the ball, lock it into place and it will give you rails to attach a fifth wheel hitch to in your truck bed. Another accessory we offer is a Curt 4" offset hitch ball part number C602. That'll create additional space between your truck cab and trailer. What that is the ball has a 4" offset so when you drop it in here and lock it in the ball will be set back 4" from the cab.The ball size on this . Let me just open this back up and we'll pull the ball out. Just like that. The ball size is your standard 2 5/16 diameter. Gross towing weight capacity is 30,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 6000 pounds. Again just to show you what you want to do to start to tow your gooseneck. Drop it into place. Release your handle. The two pins will lock it into place. You're all ready to go.Again just to remove it and store it. Pull your handle. Turn it to hold it open. Pull your ball out, flip it over. Drop it into place. Let your handle go to lock it and then take your rubber cover and put it in there. Simple as that. That should do it for the review on the Curt EZR Double Lock Under-bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch.
