Smaller heat port than expected, but does put the heat out.

I bought this heater because a Teardrop Trailer I rented had one and I wanted one for myself. It is easy to use, warms up the cabin area nicely and quickly, and doesn't blow the fuses. I tucked it in an empty cubbyhole where I wouldn't knock it onto the bedding and start a fire, then rotated it on its foot so it pointed down toward me. There is a note on the tag to turn it off for 5 minutes after running it for 20 minutes, which I did. It is probably not a good idea to go to sleep with this on unless using a timer of some sort.

Great products, the heater is a great solution for a failed heater core in a pinch. The insulated vents inserts is perfect for insulation in winter, sun shade in winter. Thank you!

The product overview was great! Ordering was excellent. The product is not as good as I originally thought. The heater seams cheaply made and I'm not sure if it will hold up. The heater works as advertised but doesn't push as much heat as I thought it would. Time will tell, I haven't really used it yet as I attend to.

Not a fan! I have had this product for a year now and it is not a quality product. The unit is cheaply made and doesnt not blow enough heat to really use it.

so far I have decided this type of heater is basically a waste of money. a hand held hair dryer puts out more heat than any of these types of temporary heaters. this particular one was as big of a failure as any other brand I have tried, unfortunately. I don't have a photo. I gave it to my friend down the street to see if he could make it work.

How To Turn On Heat of 12-Volt Heater and Defroster # PTW5009
There's a rocker switch on the side of the 12-Volt Heater and Defroster # PTW5009 that you referenced that allows you to pick heat or fan. If you rock the switch towards the word "heat" it will put out heat and defrost your windshield.

For DC electricity, I can help you out. You can run a 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 sold by the foot from a 6-way or 7-way connection from the 12V to a deep cycle 12V battery and then run the battery to a ground on the trailer. Heater # PTW5009 draws 13 amps at 12 volts which equals out to about 156 watts. I did a little research and from what I could find it is not ceramic.

Do Kat's Heaters Defrost Fans Put Out Heat
The Kat's Heaters Defrost Fan # KH43101 does not put out heat. It is just a "heavy duty" fan to better circulate the warm air inside of your vehicle. If you're wanting something that will actually put out heat you could use the 12-Volt Heater and Defroster # PTW5009 or the Rampage Radiant Backseat Heater # RA3501.

Can This Unit Be Installed With An Auxiliary Switch To Function When Truck Is Off?
The Performance Tool 12-Volt Heater and Defroster can be left on between power cycles with an auxiliary switch if you desire. It will draw about 13 amps at 12 volts which equals out to about 156 watts, so you will want to take that into consideration for your application. I don't recommend leaving it on for long periods of time as it will eventually drain your vehicle battery and the manufacturer states that the heater shouldn't be ran for more than 20 minutes at a time with 5 minutes...
