Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

2008 Pontiac Vibe

Easy to install, much better than the more expensive one that also connects to the battery.

2008 Pontiac Vibe

A great product at a great price I could not be happier, thank you so much !

2004 Pontiac Vibe

Super easy to install. I didn't even have to change out of my office clothes! Took about 30 minutes working at a comfortable pace.

by:

Very prompt shipping. Very friendly and helpful on the phone. The install went well.

by:

Very easy to understand instructions and to install. Very pleased overall with the product and at a very reasonable price.

by:

Arrived early and in great shape! The installatio video helped a ton! Thanks and I look forward to buying from you again!

by:

I was imagining the worse when I realized that I would be working with the wiring. Simply the easiest wiring I have every completed and everything still worked once done, this is unusual for my DIY projects.

by:

The wiring harness went on easily just as the instructions said.

by:

Beats bodging your own harnessEasy to install, but no good place to stick plastic 'brick' that merges wires together. Self adhesive but few straight surfaces in the unibody. Afraid it will come loose and bounce around in the future.
Wiring is heavier gauge then factory.

by:

Simple Simple SimpleNow that's how you install a wire harness. When they say 30 minutes, that's pretty close and very easy.

by:

The electrical installation was a snap. I first watched your video which was quite helpful. Within 20 minutes, I had the hitch and the wiring done. Thank you for a great product. I will be recommending your to all of my friends and for any future products I need.

by:

Get this kit!!!This was a replacement for a hardwired kit that stopped working. It installed much easier than having to strip and solder wires to the existing car wiring harness. The hardest part was finding a suitable grounding point for the T harness.

Pontiac Vibe

Beware of Pontiac wiringThe issue was not with the product, but with the fact that the wiring of my Vibe does not meet the expectations of the product manufacturer. The wiring harness on my Vibe was NOT visibile pe the installation instructions, and the entire rear compartment had to be disassembled to expose the vehicle wiring. Not an easy installation.

2008 Pontiac Vibe

Great product. Hooked it up in about 10 minutes. I watched the installation video before purchasing this item and it helped greatly. Hard to mess up installing this. Only thing I would change would be to make the wires going to the drivers side lights a little bit longer. It limited where I could mount the controller, but it still worked fine as is.

by:

This is an OK product that works like it is suppose to but could be a lot better in design. Poor instructions. The instructions do,nt tell you but they intend for you to simply run the flat trailer harness out through where the back hatch closes on it. I refused to do that so I cut it and ran it out a rubber access hole just below the left tail light and spliced, soldered, insulated back together. Much cleaner, professional look underneath.

by:

Hitch installed in 5 minutes. Wiring kit installation was 10 minutes. Instructions were spot on.

2006 Ford Focus

I have bought 2 tow bars from etrailer.com, one for my 2006 Ford Focus from like 5 years ago, and another for my 2004 Pontiac Vibe this past fall. Both arrived on time and were super simple to install. I had trouble installing my Pontiac Vibe tow bar, but that was because the mounting holes on my car were a bit rusted over. I called customer support who walked me through cleaning those out, and I got it installed right away then. Their wiring harnesses are also super easy to install and the directions are clear and concise. I highly recommend etrailer.com for any towing bar and wire harness needs. I now can tow my sailboat wherever I want to go!

2005 Pontiac Vibe

Gwen really helped me by sending me video with great audio explain in detail how to install the wire harness. at first got frustrated with the paper instructions, after speaking to Gwen, the video she sent and listening to the audio of the color of the bulbs and wire to connect to, it was a snap. Thanks Gwen for you help and great video instructions.

  • Correct Towing Capacity of Curt Hitch for 2004 Pontiac Vibe
The correct capacity for Curt hitch # C12234 is 2000 lbs towing and 200 lbs tongue weight. I took a look at the owner's manual and it states that your 2004 Pontiac Vibe has a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 lbs, which is the weight you would need to go by. That hitch does come with a drawbar and pin and clip, though if you are looking to tow you will also need a 4-flat connector, which you can add with T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118458. For a 1-7/8" hitch ball you would need # A-80...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Required to Carry a 64LB E-Bike With a 2005 Pontiac Vibe.
It is possible to use a bike rack like the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 as it is rated to carry bikes up to 65lbs and will work with a class I or class II receiver on your 2005 Pontiac Vibe. The rack itself will weigh 45lbs giving you 109lbs total for the bike and carrier weight. This would allow for you to carry a second bike if needed. The EasyFold also includes an aluminum ramp to assist with loading and unloading the bike. If you use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12234 on your...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to a Trailer and Brake Controller for 2007 Pontiac Vibe
There are several parts you will need to add electric brakes to a trailer. First, you need to replace the idler hubs with a hub and drum assembly. The hub and drum assembly that you need will depending on the bearing numbers stamped into the metal of the inner and outer bearings. I have included a link to a video that will help. After you have determine the correct hub and drum assemblies, finding the other parts will be easy. Since you already have a brake mounting flange, you will not...

  • Parts Needed to Tow Small Trailer with 2007 Pontiac Vibe
For lighter duty vehicles like your 2007 Pontiac Vibe there are only 1-1/4 inch hitches available as the 2 inch hitch size is for larger vehicles that need additional capacity. So best option we have is a hitch in this size like the Draw Tite part # 24812. The recommended ball mount is then the # 3593 which has a rise of 2-1/8 inches. For a 2 inch ball you'd then need the part # 19258. You'll also need trailer wiring to control the trailer lights which for that you'd want the Tekonsha...

  • Changing Idler Hubs on Small 5x8 Trailer to Electric Brakes
With a smaller trailer like you describe, electric brakes would be my recommendation both from a cost standpoint as well as the ease of installation. For the trailer, you would need two hub/drum assemblies and two brake assemblies. To determine if the hub/drum assemblies we offer are compatible with your trailer spindles, you will need to pull one of your idler hubs off, and look at the inner and outer bearing numbers. The hubs we offer, part # AKHD-545-35-K use # L68149 inner bearings...

  • Difference Between Trailer Hitches for 2004 Pontiac Vibe and Pontiac Vibe GT
The only difference is that Curt has one trailer hitch that fits a 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT, part # C12221 and one trailer hitch for a 2004 Pontiac Vibe NON-GT, part # C12234 while the Draw-Tite # 24812 will fit both models. The Draw-Tite hitch is a Class I hitch which requires the use of Class I accessories so my recommendation is to go with the option from Curt, with the right hitch depending on if you have a GT or not. Both the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12221 (GT models) and # C12234 (non-GT...

  • Does Tow Ready Custom Vehicle Wiring # 118458 Require a Battery Connection, 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT
The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118458, does not require a direct connection to the battery when installing and can be used on your 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT. However, the benefit of a system that does include a direct connection to the battery, like Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 55057, is that it protects your vehicles sensitive wiring from too much amperage draw from the trailer lights, which could damage the electrical system on your 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT. The fuse protected...

  • Trailer Wiring Options for a 2005 Pontiac Vibe GT
There are 2 possible trailer wiring options for your 2005 Pontiac Vibe GT. The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118458, that you have referenced would be the easiest to install. It has 3 sets of connectors and a ground wire. The 3 sets of connectors simply plug in line with your vehicle tail lights. • Difference Between Available Trailer Wiring Harnesses for 2004 Pontiac Vibe
The powered converter on the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11141425 and the Curt T-Connector # 55057 will require a direct connection to the vehicle battery to power the trailer lights. This will essentially protect the vehicle wiring and electrical system from damage. Because these harnesses use a powered converter, it will have a higher amperage rating when compared to alternatives that have a standard converter. With this in mind, if you only plan on towing a trailer...

  • Towing a Trailer with Separate Brake Lights and Turn Signals with a 2005 Pontiac Vibe with 4-Way
It sounds like the trailer has separate turn signal and brake light circuits. This is not common on trailers in the US. Trailer wiring for vehicles also have combined turn signal and brake light circuits so that is one problem. You will need to install a converter, # 118158, to separate out the signals. You will replace the 6-Way on the trailer with a 4-Way trailer end, # HM48110. Then you would hardwire its wires to the input side of the converter; green to green, yellow to yellow,...

There are two connectors that you will be connecting to on the back of the taillight housing. One is a 3 prong and one is a 2 prong. • Does the Heat Shield on a 2007 Pontiac Vibe have to be Trimmed to Install a Trailer Hitch
The only note in the actual instructions for Curt Trailer Hitch, # 12234, are for a different vehicle on which this hitch also fits. However, we have found that it is possible that the heat shield in question will need to be trimmed using aviator shears. Heat shields are thin pieces of metal that help to dissipate heat from the exhaust. Trimming a portion will not negatively affect the performance of the vehicle and the process is actually very easy. I have included a link to the installation...
