Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four-way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2017 and newer Nissan Rogue Sport vehicles, and on a custom fit part I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, this harness provides a four-way flat trailer connector for the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with five-pull, six-pull, and seven-pull adapters that we do sell separately on our website.Now, this will connect very quickly and easily. Basically, you just locate your connection points, which are in the rear cargo area.
Plug in these T-connectors, one on each side. One on the driver's side, one on the passenger's side. Ground your white wire and then run your black power wire to your vehicle's battery. Now, this harness includes this black box here, which is a taillight converter. This is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of our trailer.
It is a power module, so it connects directly to the battery and this will avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. The converter is constructed using SMT technology, which is Surface Mount Technology, it'll give you a consistent reliable performance.It will help maximize your trailer light yield and intensity, while producing minimal heat, and it also ensures superior operation on any rough road conditions. Also comes with this nice dust cover for your four-way connector, so basically if you're not connected to your trailer, you can put the cover on there, put that over the terminals, it'll protect them from any elements or from any damage. The maximum amp reach for the stop and turn lights circuits is three amps per circuit. For the taillights it's six amps per circuit. Now those come with everything shown here on the table. I'm going to sort of go through here and describe how all these connect.It does have a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how to install everything with even pictures on it where it goes. Basically, again, what you want to do is gain access to the rear cargo area and you'll find your connection points in the instructions that'll tell you where they're at.
You start on the driver's side. You want to take this T-connector that has the yellow wire in it, that's for the driver's side. Unplug the harness over there. Plug this in there. Take your other T-connector with the green wire, that's for the passenger side. Run that over to the passenger side, do the same. Unplug it and plug this in between. Then your black box here, you want to make sure this attaches to a good flat surface so it doesn't bounce around.They do include a double-faced tape you can use. You can even use a cable tie if you'd prefer. They even have a hole mount right here that you can put a screw through and hold it into place. Once that's all done, you run your bonded wire with the four-way out towards the back, and your two remaining wires are going to be your white ground wire and your black power wire. The white wire has eyelet on it, you want to connect that to a good clean ground if there's one nearby. If there isn't, you can use this grounding screw to make your own ground. The last wire's the black power wire. Now, that needs to run to the front of the vehicle, connect to your vehicle's battery. They do give you this extra length of wire to do that and the connectors.Put a butt connector on there. Connect it to one end of this length of wire, run it up to the front. Now, you don't want to run this directly to the battery. You want to run it through this inline fuse holder. Take your other butt connector, connect it to one side of the fuse holder, just like that, and on the other side of the fuse holder you'll take this eyelet connector, install it, and then connect that to your battery. Pop open your holder, take your included 10 amp fuse, install it into your fuse holder, close it up, and your system's all ready to go. Now, they do give you some extra cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring. The only issue that I ran into was trying to follow the installation instructions, my connections were not behind the panels. I had to remove the plastic housing for the lights to access the connections. Once I figured that out the project went smoothly.
I actually hired a mechanic to install the wiring. And have not used it on a trailer yet to test it. It seams like a worthy product so far
