Notes:
Have you ever hit a bump while towing and had that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones? It's a common feeling. Most clevis hitches are made completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the shock when you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it beats up your equipment too, leading to premature wear and tear on both your truck and trailer.
Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch Air will change all that.
Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air acts like a small suspension system between your truck and trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from unnecessary wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.
The body of the Shocker Hitch Air is designed to pivot back and forth on the shank, kind of like a seesaw or teeter totter, as the air bag, which sits directly beneath your truck's receiver, and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock.
When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces, the unit pivots so that the air bag can isolate and absorb the energy. When your trailer jerks forward or backward, the 2 cushioned bumper stops help soften the force.
Using the easily accessible air valve on the side of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the Shocker Hitch Air's air bag to best accommodate your trailer's load. If you're hauling heavy-duty landscaping equipment, for example, you can add air to account for the increased capacity. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your underloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.
Finding the right pressure for your setup is simple. Once you've hooked up your trailer and the tongue weight is pushing down on the hitch ball, there will be a gap between the top of the adjustable channel and bumper.
Inflate the air bag until the bumper rests flush against the top of the hitch. Once the gap is gone, you'll know the air bag has the appropriate amount of air pressure for your load.
If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit of the Shocker Hitch Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.
Adjusting the height of the clevis to accommodate for a different trailer takes almost no time at all. Just unclip the adjustment pins and grab the easy-to-grasp handles to remove them. Then slide the clevis up or down to the desired position. Once you have the correct height, reinsert the pins and secure the clips, and fold back the handles so they're out of the way. Then you're ready to go.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at the Shocker Hitch HD air cushion clevis mount for your 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, this heavy-duty shock-absorbing receiver hitch is going to give you superior comfort while towing by reducing road shock and chucking, using airbag and bumper stop technologies. This hitch does feature an industrial strength airbag and cushion bump stops here at the top that are gonna dampen chucking and road shock. And this is going to hook your trailer to your tow vehicle with the included clevis pin mount that you see here.
So this is gonna be perfect for towing your hay wagons and hydrous tanks and other farm applications. And like I said, this is gonna fit your 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. So this is going to give you a maximum gross towing weight of 20,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 2,000 pounds. But of course, you always wanna remember that a towing setup is limited by its lowest rated component, whether that be your vehicle, your hitch, or another component. Now, a few things I wanna make you aware of upfront before we go any further.
This will not fit SUVs, CUVs, or sedans due to limited clearance. This will not fit a 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver even with a reducer sleeve because typically trucks with a 2 1/2 inch hitch have deeper frames. This does require 5 inches of clearance below the bottom of your receiver tube and it requires a minimum of 7 inches of clearance between the center of the hitch pin hole and the rear-most part of your truck. The receiver opening should be flushed with your bumper or protruding from the rear of the vehicle to give you that best fit. Now, this 1 1/4 inch pinhole is going to accommodate a variety of equipment.
Let me see if I can give you an overhead view here just so you can see. And the inside distance between the tangs is going to be 3 1/4 inches and the outside distance between the tangs is 4 3/4 inches. And included here are two easy to remove pins. If you notice we have these large rings here. I can fit up to four of my fat fingers through there and they do fold back if you want them out of your way as well.
So no more fumbling with small hitch pin heads. And then as I fold this one back out like that, on the other side here, we have large clips as well. So this is really gonna be really simple to get that height adjustment that you're looking for because those pins and clips are gonna be easy to remove and replace. This is gonna give you a drop from a half inch to 3 1/2 inches. And then the distance between the vertical adjustment holes on center is gonna be 1 inch. You can mount any shocker hitch accessory, including a ball mount, a pencil hook, and drawbar attachments, all those items. Those attachments are sold separately, but you can find them here at etrailer.com under the related products tab on this product page. So this air hitch works a lot like a teeter totter with the airbag on one end in your trailer coupler on the other end. And as your trailer exerts force downward, this unit is going to pivot and the airbag's going to absorb the energy. And then when your trailer jerks backwards or pushes forward, the two cushion bump stops that you see right here are going to reduce the force for a smoother ride. Now, this airbag is easily adjustable. For heavier loads, you're gonna add more air. For lighter loads, you'll let air out. And as you can see here, we do have a Schrader valve here with the cap. So this is gonna be very easy to get that air adjustment that you're looking for. Now, to determine the correct amount of air to use, you're just gonna hook your trailer up and then load the trailer the way that you're going to tow it. And then you're going to go ahead and add air until these bump stops begin to compress. And once they begin to compress, then you should have the right amount of air in your airbag for your load and you're gonna be ready to go down the road. On the other side here, we do have a zerk fitting here at the pivot point that's gonna make lubricating and maintenance very easy. This is constructed of grade 50 steel plate construction and a cold-rolled steel shank to give you maximum durability. It's also shot-blasted and powder-coated to help prevent rust. And I do like the finish here. It's a textured matte finish, so I think that's gonna hold up really well for you. The hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch. And if you notice, this does also include a pin and clip, but I would recommend taking a look at our hitch pin lock options that we have [email protected] just to protect your investment on the back of your truck. In case you we inchesre wondering, the distance from the center of our first hitch pin hole to the center of the hole here on our tangs, we're sitting right about 11 1/4 inches, and then moving to the second hitch pin hole on center, 12 1/4 inches. Now, if you do decide to pick this up, we would love to hear back from you regarding your experience getting this set up and using it. And you can share your experience with us by dropping a comment or leaving a review on this product page. And if you leave a review, you can actually leave photos for us as well so we can see what this looks like in action with your particular towing setup. But either way, we would love to hear back from you. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
