The built-in straps will help keep it in place as well. That said, I'd probably go with the CargoSmart Soft-Sided Car Top Carrier part # CS44FR which measures 36" long x 30" wide so you don't have to do as much squishing and it's more cost effective.

  The CargoSmart Soft-Sided Car Top Carrier part # CS44FR is designed to attach to roof rack crossbars or raised side rails. If you have a narrow crossbar spread, the bag will likely sit on top of the bars which is totally fine. That said, I went out to our warehouse and measured the bag for you, this isn't going to be exact but the straps are spaced apart roughly 16" at the front/back and 24" at the sides.
