These front tie-downs mount directly to the frame, the strongest part of your truck, so your camper stays secure even on long hauls and rough roads. With the camper’s weight distributed evenly and its center of gravity lowered, handling stays steady. You avoid that top-heavy sway that can happen when tie-downs are mounted to the bed or bumper, giving you a safer, more comfortable ride mile after mile.
When the camper’s off, the arms pull right out of the brackets leaving almost nothing visible beneath the truck. The brackets sit tucked close to the frame for a clean appearance and are barely noticeable. It’s an easy way to keep your setup looking tidy without sacrificing strength or convenience when it’s time to load up again.

These tie-downs bolt onto pre-existing holes in the frame, so installation is straightforward and doesn’t require cutting or major modifications. The snug fit means minimal loss of ground clearance and a solid connection every time. It’s a quick job you can do with basic tools before hitting the road.
Made from heavy-duty steel and finished in a black powder coat, these tie-downs are built to handle tough conditions and resist corrosion. Whether it’s rain, road salt, or gravel spray, the durable finish keeps them protected so they hold up trip after trip.
Each arm has two pin holes for adjusting reach and two anchor holes for dialing in your angle to the camper’s mounts. That adjustability helps you clear fenders or sidewalls and keeps tension even across all four corners once you add turnbuckles (sold separately). The result is a tight, balanced hold that keeps your camper solidly in place wherever you go.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a look at these Torklift custom, frame-mounted front camper tie-downs. Now, these are our custom fit camper tie-downs that are designed to fit the 1995 to 2000 Chevrolet C/K Series pickup with an eight foot bed without board or step underneath the truck bed and with a factory installed hitch. Also fits the 1988 to 2000 Chevrolet C/K Series pickup with eight foot bed without board or step underneath the truck bed and with a non-Torklift aftermarket hitch or with a Torklift SUPER HITCH Original 20K. And then finally, the 1988 to 1994 GMC C/K Series pickup with an eight foot bed without board or step underneath the truck bed and with a non-Torklift aftermarket hitch or with a Torklift SUPER HITCH Original 20K.
To confirm that these are gonna work for your vehicle, take advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Input the year, make and model of your vehicle. And our fit guide will let you know if these will work for your vehicle or if we have something comparable that will work for you. These custom tie-downs provide attachment points at the front of your truck bed for securing a bed-mounted camper. The rear tie-downs are sold separately.
The brackets fit tight to your truck's frame with no loss of ground clearance. And the frame-mounted design is going to ensure excellent handling because securing your camper to your truck's base instead of its bed better distributes weight to keep your setup from being too top-heavy. Now, these are gonna be virtually undetectable when they're not in use. The tie-down inserts can be easily removed from the frame-mounted receiver brackets. So, I'm just gonna remove this pin.
And then as you can see, the inserts are easily removed and you can stow these inserts in the back of your truck. And as you can see, it is going to be virtually undetectable. Now, these inserts do have two holes on them. So, you can use the hole that is, what I'm calling the first hole here. If your camper is a little bit wider, you can set it on that hole.
Or if your camper is a little bit narrower, you can slide it into the second hole. And that's where I had it, so I'm gonna go ahead and set it back on that hole. Line up the holes here, run my pin through, and that is secure in the receiver bracket. Now, these are made in the USA of a powder coated steel construction. You are going to receive two front tie-down inserts, the frame brackets, and the necessary hardware that you're going to need to successfully install these, along with an instruction manual to help you through that installation process. These do have a lifetime warranty. And that's gonna complete our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

These tie downs are sill working as advertised. I have travelled over 20,000 mi with them in various conditions with about 10 of that time in dirt roads or 4wd roads. Nothing too crazy, but with my camper and these tied downs I am confident that the camper will remain attached and be secure. It hardly moves around at all. They are worth the money and I can still remember how easily they installedvery welll thought out design and installation!

Hi Jim! I can see why that would be frustrating for sure. The good news is you usually don’t have to do anything drasticmost fixes come down to slightly repositioning the exhaust system rather than fully relocating it. That can mean loosening and adjusting a bolt-on hanger, adding a small spacer, or even tweaking the hanger position just enough to create some clearance. I’ll drop this article here since it walks through a few simple ways to fix it step-by-step, but overall you’re on the right track it’s typically just a matter of giving the exhaust a little more room so nothing is rubbing or under tension. This help article is about a hitch install but it still applies here.

Glad to hear you are liking them, Milton! And I agree, the TorkLift tie downs are superior to the HappiJac tie downs. They are just more secure and heavier duty. At least in my opinion. And that sounds like quite the trip! Was it just a camping trip or did you do some fishing and or hunting?

I reached out to the manufacturer. They advised that they think it is a combination of the Northern light camper anchor point location being situated so far back on the camper and possibly the front of the camper not being all the way against the bulkhead of the bed if it is moving forward still. Otherwise, everything looks typical of a truck camper and truck installation. If it has any room to slide forward, it will in a sudden braking situation.

Jenny thanks for your reply and diligence in reaching out to TorkFit. The NL camper does have forward bumpers for abutting the bulkhead. However when bulkhead contact is made the body of the my 21 Silverado makes contact with the fiberglass body of the camper. The pressure from a recent ‘sudden stop’ and ‘slide forward’ created enough pressure to chip paint on the truck. The bumpers make contact with the bulkhead about 10”-12” above the bed-bulkhead connection. The 90* corner at bottom, this should be the strongest area. I will install stop chocks at future loadings. I’ll also attempt to possibly install the TorkFits in a more vertical position. Thanks.

A year later, I just got back from camping trip. I love the easy set up of these hitches. I’m a 65 year old woman, and I can put these mounts on my truck in less than five minutes. Then, another 10 or 15 to put the chains and turn buckles on, make them tight. I usually drive about 5 miles maybe 10, go get gas, and give all the chains a shake to make sure they’re still tight. If not, spin the turnbuckles a time or Two. And off, I go. I am extremely happy with this investment. Of all the things I bought after buying the camper, this has brought me the most security and feeling of safety. Good luck, happy camping whatever you decide.

Couldnt ask for anything better. I am using them on a regular basis. When not in use I remove, clean and store them in my garage. No rust issues and the brackets attached to the truck are just as solid as when I first torqued them to the trucks frame. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for proper camper tie-downs. PS: Their customer service, as always, I outstanding!
