A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the TorkLift Tie Downs

Today we're going take a look at the TorklLift custom rear frame mounted camper tie downs. Now these are our custom fit part. They are designed to fit the 2019 Dodge Ram 3500 trucks with either a six and a half foot or eight foot bed without a board or a step underneath the truck bed. On a custom fit part like this, I do recommend for you to go to the website, use the fit guide, putting your year and model vehicle and it'll show you this will work for your application. Now these tie downs is what will provide attachment points at the rear of your truck for securing your bed mounted camper to your vehicle. We do also offer front tie downs to match these. They are sold separately and they are listed on this product page as a related product.

Now this part here, these will allow you to feel dramatic improvement with vehicle handling and stability and it is the safest way to haul a truck camper because it'll prevent any vehicle sway and camper movement in all directions. You can haul your truck camper confidently by attaching your tie-downs to the strongest part of the truck, which is the frame and the vehicle manufacturers do recommend that all full height sliding camper bodies should be directly attached to your vehicle frame structure and that frame-mounted design will ensure excellent handling by securing the camper to the truck's base instead of its bed, which will better distribute weight to keep your setup from being too top heavy. It'll also help avoid any bed and bumper damage that's common with other tie-down systems that are out there. Now these are a fast no drill installation securing your truck camper to your truck and it'll help maintain the value of your truck and prevent any rust and bed damage by avoiding drilling into your truck bed or bumper. And as I mentioned, these are custom fit for your vehicle. The brackets will fit tight to your truck frame, so there's no loss of any ground clearance when these are installed. It is perfect if you do any off-road truck camping. These are virtually undetectable when they're not in use.

The tie-down inserts., this portion right here, can be easily removed from the frame-mounted receiver brackets by just unhooking the snapper pins right here. Slide out the tie down inserts, and then these parts, the brackets will all be hidden underneath the hidden design of the brackets. Will return your truck to its original look. you won't even know they're on there. Now on your tie-down inserts, when you do go to install them, you'll notice there's two holes to allow you to connect these turnbuckles that will connect right here on the ends so they will not interfere with anything on your vehicle. When you go to install your tie down insert, you use the first hole to extended out from the camper, if you use the second hole, brings it a little bit closer so you can just put it to whatever one fits your application.Once you get your hole lined up, push your separate pensive and it holds it into place.

Now these do have a driver's side and passenger side bracket. Basically, when these are installed, this is on the driver's side, so the shorter side of the tie-down will face the rear of the truck. This is the passenger side. So again, the shorter side will face the rear of the truck and these are steel construction. They have a nice black powder coat finish for durability.

Does include everything I laid out here on the table. The two rear tie-down inserts, which are these portions right here, the frame brackets that mount to the vehicle's frame, and all the necessary hardware to install it. Nice set of detailed instructions and these parts are made in the USA. But that should do it for the review on the TorkLift custom rear frame mounted camper tie-downs.
